.....to think my neighbour is unreasonable????

She called me up to ask if I'd remove some weeds from my garden that are growing near her fence - and ivy that is growing up some parts of her fence.

The fence is very long and mainly covered by trees on both sides so it's hard to actually see all of it - plus we can't actually get to all of it. The parts that she can see are clear of weeds. Also it's on the side and isn't a main feature of our gardens iyswim.

I'm preg and have 4 kids so doing this will be a trouble plus not immune to toxo and there are alsways cats coming through the gardens.

Told my dh & he just laughed at her calling!!

maisym - you sound like me! Our gardens full of trees & bushes & new things are always springing up courtesy of the birds planting [ahem] things for us.

I love it but next door don't - they have a tiny bit of perfect lawn & loads of slabs & stone chips everywhere. Most of their plants sit on these in pots FGS!

Then I don't understand what she wants you to pull up, do you? Perhaps all those lovely plants you like by the fence ARE weeds, and are creeping under the fence and DESTROYING her lifes work? If so, then she's not being completely unreasonable is she?

lol GW !!! I'll send you some apples from all our apple trees - perhaps that'll be the next thing when they fall in her garden!!

The area along this fence is full of trees and plants - don't know what (must be weeds!!! - perhaps we brought them as well!!

The ivy isn't a problem as it's only growing in the shade where we can't get to the fence & not much of it either and the other weeds I like.

I leave the garden to flourish - don't use chemicals and just enjoy being outside with my kids. She gardens everyday!!!!

If the weeds & ivy are spreading thro' the fence she can remove the ones actually in her garden herself. If they're just near the fence & still in your garden then they're none of her business. If she still moans I'll send you some pics of our garden & you can show her them & tell her to just be glad she's not our neighbour

She's a bit of a fuss pot isn't she? Do you like the ivy? If you're not bothered either way I don't see why you don't just hack it down.
We once have someone put a letter through our door about cutting the hedges out the front - they were SCRATCHING them as they walked past! This person put letter through door and ran off like a dog in the night though, didn't have to live next door to them.

Oh God, mine said the same but then added "we never had these kinds of weeds before you moved here"....i brought them with me you see...in the removal van...thought to myself "ahhh these weeds will look lovely there in that spot" FFS!!!!
Let them grow grow grow and be wild...tell her you never even noticed! that will piss her off. heheheheheehe!

Tell her that you are happy to do the weeding if she will mind your DCs and have your bump whilst you do it!
