Someone got on the train in Hove all suited and proceeded to read the daily mail. I must admit i was astonished, i thought it was a guardian town.

suzycreamcheese · 18/05/2007 21:56

hayes...
hey you must glaze for most of the day..everyone is snob nob about something...

hayes · 18/05/2007 12:23

no I just switch off/glaze over at snobs of any description

IntergalacticWalrus · 18/05/2007 12:21

DP buys the Sun on occasion too. I actually quite enjoy reading it. I love the fact that they get on the moral highground on one page, and on the next they show tits. Marvellous.

DP hides it inside The Times though when he buys it. snobbo

Lilymaid · 18/05/2007 12:21

We have the Sun, Daily Mail and Guardian in our work kitchen. It just about sums up the different strata. Mind you the Sun readers earn the most. And the Daily Mail annoys me the most.

sweetkitty · 18/05/2007 12:17

DP buys The Sun as it's 15p and he has a long commute and likes the sudokos and the crosswords, now and again when bored I'll have a read, I hate the way nearly every story has to have a sexual slant on it. Also we have the Scottish Sun so you get the front page being some Scottish trivial story then inside you get a little bit of other real stories going on in the world. For instance frontpage headling would be "Naughty minister gropes blonde" inside in a tiny column "on by the way Australia sank into the sea yesterday"

Gobbledigook · 18/05/2007 12:09

It is a pile of poo and I flick through it in about 10 seconds flat and then tut. Dh buys it - he says for the sport, he LOL at Dear Deidre but it's probably for the t*ts.

Hey, at the same time, believe it or not, he's a pretty intelligent guy and knows far more about current affairs and the history behind things than I do. He reads widely though - not just The Sun.

we use the sun for running transplant stories. why? because its one of the most read newspapers in the country and cover health topics very well.

current article will be in the NOTW hopefully

JeremyVile, you must be that mythical person who intimately knows every Sun reader on the planet! How fab and groovy for you.
Clearly I must bow down to your superior judgements.

littleolwinedrinkerme · 18/05/2007 10:59

Well of course I don't know any Sun readers so possibly couldn't comment ....

foxinsocks · 18/05/2007 10:57

how totally outrageous - Dear Deidre is the most entertaining column in any paper

JeremyVile · 18/05/2007 10:46

....yet still more broad-minded than a Sun reader!

OP posts:
AlistairSim · 18/05/2007 03:12

Not unreasonable, just narrow-minded.

MrMariella · 18/05/2007 01:55

JeremyVile · 18/05/2007 01:55

oh, Build a bridge and get over it.

night.

JeremyVile · 18/05/2007 01:48

Bassmamma, what i think is horrendously vile and snobbish is that the Sun (star,sport,express....) is written by a bunch of middle class tossers who aim their rag at the working class (a group to which am very proud to belong)and believe that they have to dumb down, sex up, sensationalise and out and out lie in order to make it digestable by the working class. As though we are a bunch of mindless morons.
You must know what i mean surely? If not then compare the coverage of the same story by say the Sun and the Times for example.....you'll get it, i promise! I used to read the Sun oh god and the Mail . It wasn't til i could compare that i realised just how crud it all was.
BTW, reading articles online is free....Bargain!!

yep. There are many ways of understanding folks. Only one of the limitied ways is what paper they read.

night.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 18/05/2007 01:18

I was on a packed train a couple of days ago. I nearly fainted, none of the Guardian/Telegraph/FT readers gave me the seat. I got off that train, on to the next, a young Mirror reader got up to offer me his seat (I'm pg too). Definitely made me think again about judging ppl on what they read. I don't know how long this will last.
