Mine has told me over the years:
She was very annoyed to be pregnant with me
I shouldn't have children
She was surprised I was having a wedding
I am a manipulative cow

I'm so sorry you were so badly failed by your mother but as you should know (and I'm sure you do know deep down) this is not "mothers" generically, its "your mother".

I think you need to get some help with this because it doesn't sound like you've processed it properly but calling an entire class of person a "bitch" is toxic and self destructive.

Please talk to someone about how you feel, don't carry this sort of toxicity around with you.

Soukmyfalafel · 24/05/2025 18:13

My mum is likely on the spectrum (as probably I am) and can be brutally honest sometimes. Also sticks to stereotype types and uses astrology to gauge people's character. She is still an amazing mum in other ways and has really been there for me. I just ignore her verbal crap and filter it out.

Older women have a knack for brutal honesty and I'm going that way too! I just don't think you have the mental bandwidth to keep up appearances or think before you talk anymore! Just give as good as you get. Say "that's great, because I'm actually annoyed it was YOU that was pregnant with me too."

pointythings · 24/05/2025 18:12

I'm so sorry you have a rubbish mum. They are not all like that. Mine was great - not perfect, but great. She overcame a seriously abusive childhood determined not to make the same mistakes with her own children, and she didn't.

Step away from her and make your own family.

My mum is AMAZiNG, in almost every way. Just is. An all round fab human being. Lots of people are. Some, less so. The labels don’t help. And don’t call women ‘bitches’ or ‘bitch’, it’s crappy and makes it hard for people to see beyond the word. As in no one will take you seriously,
Stop swearing and use real words.

@greenbeansqueen you're the not the language police.

The Op may express her frustration as she chooses. Quite why you've even bothered to type out your irrelevant opinion baffles me.

TallandTaller · 24/05/2025 17:17

Any consolation OP my mum said similar to me ❤️

My mother is nice to everybody except me.it infuriates her that i have my perspective. I told her she hurt me and she has made it all about her so i get it.
And it is so hard to NOT CARE
i am trying to not care
💐

wigjuice · 28/07/2021 18:04

Minestheoneinthegreen How's about a little empathy for someone who is obviously going through some horrible shite, she only knows what she fucking knows, and certainly not your mother. You be grateful for not having hers, your attitude to someone in distress is hideous! Shame on you!

paisley256 · 28/07/2021 18:03

Sorry you never got the mum you deserved Flowers

MintyCedric · 28/07/2021 17:58

@pandarific

Well some mothers are annoyed you - GASP - appear to be a person independent of them with your own thoughts about things and not a perfect little clone of them.

surprisingly common, that.

Yep, my mum was fabulous until I reached my mid teens and started making a bid for independence.

In my mid-forties now and she still likes to try and clip my wings.

Tbf she has good points too...has helped me out financially and with child care and when she's on form is hilarious, but sadly we just don't 'get' one another and probably never will now.

Zombie thread resurrection. 🧟‍♀️

pleasedonttextmyman · 28/07/2021 17:52

and ignore greenbeansqueen

some people are only on here to wind posters up.

pleasedonttextmyman · 28/07/2021 17:51

You are unlucky and your own mother has serious issues. It's not about you, it's her. It's very hard to get your head around it when it's your own mother, but it has nothing to do with you.

Funnylittlefloozie · 28/07/2021 17:51

2 year old zombie thread re-animated by a bored teenager. Right....

OneMamaAndHerGirl · 28/07/2021 17:48

Mothers aren’t bitches, yours is!

My mother isn’t a bitch, I’m a mother and I’m not a bitch.

wigjuice · 28/07/2021 17:18

@ViciousJackdaw

If you are a dog then yes, all mothers are bitches.
Better than being a failed cunt eh!
ViciousJackdaw · 28/07/2021 17:08

PrettyLittleFlies · 28/07/2021 17:03

As you can see, a lot of posters are bitches too 😢

Your mum is abusive and I'm sorry for what you've been through and are still going through. There are some good, supportive threads in relationships, maybe repost in there?

RowanAlong · 28/07/2021 17:01

Sad to hear these! Sad that people have really terrible mothers, and also sad for myself that mine, while not ‘terrible’, definitely isn’t many of the lovely things described above.. endlessly supportive, encouraging, my best friend, showing unconditional love etc. Trying to be better at it for my daughter..

wigjuice · 28/07/2021 16:41

Amongst many other things, mine told me she'd have no problem stabbing me, asked me when I was 14 if I fancied her husband yuk! Got married without telling me, said if I died she'd take my youngest in, but the other 2 would go in care. Unsurprisingly we are, apart from the odd card and polite thank you on messenger, non contact. Mind it took me till I was 45 to achieve this status, went through so much guilt. On the other side now, thankfully.

Smartiepants79 · 28/07/2021 16:38

You mean SOME mothers are bitches.
Mine is a fantastic mother and grandmother.
I’m sorry that yours wasn’t.
There are obviously many, myriad reasons why she was the way she was.
What were her parents like?

Chailatteplease · 28/07/2021 16:33

Mine is too.
Thankfully I have a lovely MIL now.
