HORRIBLE UNPROFFESSIONAL - AVOID!

Last year, deposit was taken, work man named Kieran didn't get back to me after two months, so i then asked for my deposit back. The company ignored me until responding today! Kieran Gayson took my money, refuses to refund, and the company says they aren't liable even though he works for them! AVOID at all costs, i am an existing customer, carpet and vinyl are worse than DIY self-adhesive panels! Please PLEASE shop around first. i used them initially as i was a single parent, had no money, and just moved into my home.

UPDATE: he is now agreeing to refund me. I will however update this post, once he does. However, i wont remove it due to warning other vunerable people.

Just got an update email and thought I'd come back to this thread with actual figures - I've had Easipay Carpets in 3 times now but for the second time I wanted to shop around. I knew that Easipay was cheaper than Tapi, which is also Carpetright now. I requested a quote from Pay Weekly Carpets, Easipay Carpets, Pay Day Flooring (which is now Pay Weekly Flooring??) Let's Pay Weekly and JBM Carpets. I'll list the experience me and the wife had cause it's saved in my phones notes still:

We got Laminate in living room that also goes into dining room and kitchen (open plan), and vinyl in the upstairs bathroom.

  • Pay Day Flooring/Pay Weekly Flooring - Didn't turn up to 2 appointments, staff were rude trying to book back in so we cancelled.
  • Let's Pay Weekly didn't turn up because I just wanted a quote and "wasn't a sale". Tried to book in again with a nicer rep and was told no, the original rep wouldn't say that (i sent them the texts). Booked in with him again, their representative text to say do I actually want the flooring this time. Told him we still wanted a quote, they cancelled with me, no quote given.
  • JBM carpets £1300 (ish) , £90 a month for 10 months with a £400 deposit and £450 fit fee. Most samples were very basic, others were nice but a lot more expensive and a longer wait as they don't typically stock it. Representative was nice though. Fit is a 6 week wait.
  • Pay weekly carpets £1100(ish) all in, but the total to pay was actually just over £1500 as they charge 30% interest too. Samples were again basic, £480 fit fee. Fitting is a 3 payments (months) wait. Rep was nice though.
  • Easipay carpets £840(ish) with £200 deposit and £64 a month for 10 months. Samples were really nice honestly but they've got a more luxury range which is more like stone/marble, it didn't work out that much more expensive but the fit fee was a bit higher as it's harder to fit and we just wanted the wood look so didn't go for it. £280 fit fee. Fitting is the week after the first payment is made, we made it at the appointment, got a call the next day and a fit date for the following week. Flooring, deposit and fit fee were all cheaper than the other 2 companies.

It was absolutely a no brainer for us, but different reps might have different prices to match the income of different areas so i'd say definitely shop around. The last 3 I think are definitely cheaper than the highstreet (tapi) but not sure about the first 2 as we didn't actually manage to get a quote from them.

The service: we've had easipay back for the bedrooms in October and their new carpet samples are gorgeous, we've had 2 reps out from them and both were really helpful and nice and the office staff are amazing any time I need to call. The fitters themselves have always been the same team of a father and daughter - kept me well up to date with where i was on the jobs that day and where he was/ how long he'd be. He did the bulk of the fitting himself which is literally perfect, no faults at all and she gave him a hand, took photos as proof it was done then tidied up after him.

It was cheaper for us overall to go with the payment plan even if we paid it all in one rather than go to Tapi, the fit fee on its own is twice the price with tapi and you have to pay for all the extras like underlay, door bars and beading - all free with easipay. The first time we went to Franks too which were cheaper than Tapi but I doubt they'd be as cheap as easipay for everything all in honestly and Franks don't price match with pay weekly companies. I'd say go there for a quote even if you want to pay in full cause it'll probs be cheaper still.

10/10 experiences every single time.

This might seem a bit condescending but;;;
Ive been in my flat 2 years. At the time ALL my money was going on literal essentials like duvets and food and ovens and washing machines. So i had concrete flooring.
The concrete was dusty; cold; difficult to clean; and felt like hell.
No money saved up; couldnt even pay the deposit for pay weekly floors; vouldnt afford lino scraps.
Did all the hacks. Painted the floors ; that helped for a bit. Got cheap rugs; but it looked tacky and unfinished; grouted stick and peel tiles to the hallway; looked fabulous... for 4 months now the tiles have chunks missing; I even went to habitat for humanity to get cheap laminate; £30 a box down to £5 a boc; learnt to fit it myself; sawed it myself; and it looked great too; until the laminate swelled and the mismatched colour affected me.

I did the saving too. Got my floors wuoted to be £600. I saved multipled times rhe most I ever got to was £450; i thought do one room at a time but couldnt choose ehich room to do kept wanting to do cheaper or private; took too ling and an emergency like the car wpuld ruin the whole thing.

I finally have about a thousand pound. I could go spend 600-800 on a priavte fitter that may take longer; charge me: or could give me a really good price. Who knows?

But my choice now is pay weekly. All the charges on it seem measly compared to what Ive saved. And the money will go in the credit union Ill take a tenner out a week to pay the floors but hopefully be able to save atleast 20 a month anyways now! If i pay it off credit will go up; i can get floors done at different times; can do blinds or furniiture! Who wouldnt...

In the meantime yes Im in debt .. im paying someone back for the lixury of getting to keep the money in my bank. But Ive just oaid off other plans so I know I can do it. Then worse comes to; that money can be used in a car emergency etc or atleast sit in credit union for a while.

It just works better for me than handing over all my savings. And its quicker they do so many people a week. Set prices; all of us low income; less likely.ill be scammed tban if me as an unemployed young female eith no knowledge of house diy and floors ill get mugged off.

Dingle66 · 19/01/2024 13:25

Please help I live in a flat so yes ido need stair carpet but I've had message from a perso called jason and in regular contact and then ias the other pay weekly on FB and they have given me know date and they are telling me the other one who heeps in touch and given me a date is saying it's a scam what do i do

walm · 28/09/2023 12:59

I've used Easipay Carpets - the rep I saw had different sets of carpets with different quality/value and the cheaper options were still really nice feeling. They didn't do a credit check on me and they don't charge interest like a lot of places - we priced up with Tapi and Carpetright as well and Easipay were actually cheaper! Had my stairs, landing and living room done!

ballito7 · 29/05/2018 18:47

Love used them and after arguing with them and having the carpet fitter return and fix the problem this is what i am left with and was told this is how it is supposed to look like. When ever i hoover the whole square of the carpet lifts up and also the carpet is rippled on stairs and lifts up. The carpet has not been stretched hence the ripple effect. There is alot more wrong and have complained but the general manager in swindon Richard said there is nothing wrong with the carpet 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

marioncr · 18/04/2018 11:21

there is another pay weekly on fb and he is an scam so he could be the one with poor reviews he has the same name

marioncr · 18/04/2018 11:20

pay weekly dont charge interest if you read their thing online it tells you that its just something that is affordable for people on low incomes

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 17/04/2018 21:01

Just save up and buy some decent carpet when you can afford it.

FissionChips · 16/04/2018 19:54

A quick google shows multiple poor reviews,- deposits taken and no carpet arriving, poorly fitted, more money taken than should have etc.

BiddydeBint · 16/04/2018 19:45

Can't you buy some nice offcut from your local carpet warehouse and find a handyman to stick it down? Ask on Facebook. My friend did this. Her carpet and underlay cost £80 and she went on fb and offered £50 to someone who could fit it. It looks good and it was good hard-wearing carpet too

marioncr · 16/04/2018 19:39

i know someone who has used them they are an real company you pay for the fitting upfront i believe but its not that expensive i think its from £40 to £80 im thinking about using them myself as i need new flooring for my front room regards marion

kylie123 · 16/04/2018 19:03

I have just had them out today paid £40 deposit took card number and expiry date to take £10 per week. Just properly read all the paper work and it states your basically renting the flooring and you get a minimum term to rent for which is how ever long it takes to pay off it does state though you pay £1 a year after that is paid off not sure why that is can anyone that's had it confirm?

marioncr · 09/03/2018 03:47

i saw one of their van outside an neighbours today i think its an great idea they dont credit check you and there is no intrest charges either they give you £400 in credit im going to use them as i would like the laminate it looks like laminate anyway lol im going to contact them my friend they are ok and you pay £10 an week at leastit makes it affordable for people who cant afford to pay for the carpet up front x

Kpo58 · 26/02/2018 23:11

It's worth buying the gripper rods and underlay yourself.

I paid £30 for a box of rods (only needed half the box), but Carpet right were quoting me £70 for them. The same with underlay, I bought much better quality underlay, but for less than the cheapest one in the shop.

ThisLittleKitty · 26/02/2018 22:02

Argh that's not good that they won't help out. I need to replace my bedroom carpet in the future but dreading it as have to get my bed out the room and to do that the whole thing will need to be dismantled to fit through the door so can't even be bothered. But I feel your pain.

Whycantithinkofaname · 26/02/2018 21:38

I've ordered through them. £390 for my living room that's with underlay, the carpet sample looked of decent quality. I paid £40 deposit and have to pay £60 on the day of the fitting. I ordered months ago but haven't actually got round to the fitting as I may be moving again so want to wait until I'm in a new house. The thing that put me off is that I have to pull the old carpet up and move all the furniture from the room myself. I don't have a partner so asked if the person fitting would be able to help me shift it on the day and was told no. Fair enough but I have a small house and all the furniture would have to sit outside until the carpet is down there is no way I can do this on my own. So not actually sure what I will do when it comes to fitting as they don't work weekends and have no one around to help me during the week. I understand it's not their job to help but from speaking to a few other people who have bought carpets elsewhere they've told me the carpet fitters have always been happy to help shift the furniture. I don't know if this is standard I rent privately so have never had to have a carpet fitted.

CakeAndChocolate · 26/02/2018 21:28

SCS do carpets and also offer interest free credit (minimum spend of £310, whereas carpet right have a minimum spend of £500)

Fudgesauce · 26/02/2018 21:17

Carpetright offer 4 years interest free you are better off going to them.

ThisLittleKitty · 26/02/2018 21:15

Thanks Brazzle but I'm really not sure how to measure stair carpet so wouldn't know what to order.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 26/02/2018 21:00

Instead of pay weekly, can you not save up and order from something like this site

www.moreforyourfloor.co.uk/carpets.html?dir=asc&limit=28&order=price&p=2

We used them a few years ago when on a tight budget, got a 4x7 metre decent carpet for bout 60 quid.

A long shot but some LA offer tenants a semi furnished add on.
Would that be applicable?
New carpets or lino for £10 weekly. It's council scheme so check yours.

ThisLittleKitty · 22/02/2018 12:56

Thanks for the pics the carpets do look lovely. Definitely going to contact them.
