She's middle class all of a sudden. Keep thinking of Richard Briers and Felicity Kendall.

Me and dh call each other babe, always have done and I really like it. We call the dc's sweetie, darling, sweetheart and others.

Could never call dh darling, it just wouldn't be right We only use soppy terms of endearment in a sarcastic way.

Our last words to each other last night as we went to sleep were "night night fuck face" "night night arsehole"

I use 'sweetie' or 'sweet pea' or 'love' for the dcs.

I use sweetheart for kids ...not just my own . Can't help it ...it just comes out.

I must admit I never ever thought that terms of endearment was class issue

When we were in the west country recently a middleaged female assistant in a Clarks called me 'dear lady'
Loved it
'Are these the right size, dear lady?'
'Would you like to pay over here, dear lady?'
[to a colleague] 'Could you put the payment through for this dear lady?'
It was thoroughly pleasant
But then I call everyone darling
My children, their friends, DH (esp when I'm cross), my parents, my sister, school-gate friends
I can't be expected to remember everyone's names ffs

Fraid dh and I are the endearment couple, and I know it probably annoys some people, with our darlings and babes, but we don't care. Life's too short, we like it, so every one else can go take a hike

I call everybody by terms of endearment! But then again I am very middle class...

There is one quite senior partner at my firm who insists (even in front of clients) on calling me "Dear"...

And I am such a wuss, I never pluck up the courage to say anything to him...

I call OH by his surname, always have. If I use his first name, he knows he's in trouble and if I call him darling, he knows I've either forgotten his name or he's getting lucky.

I think darling is lovely. I can't remember exactly now but it's from a very nice Anglo Saxon word.

Although as people comment on the thread there are class issues on the words people use there is also a separate issue of couples having their own special words for each other as well which is entirely up to them what they choose.

I tend to call DH "Love"and everyone else "hon" except my son who's sweetheart or my little man.

Me and my dh call eachother honey, darling, sweetie, sexy, chubby, grumpy arse. Depending on our moods. No matter who is around. Believe me we are not high class!!!!
