To expect BMW drivers NOT to overtake on a (mini) roundabout?

Is it too much to ask? Or are ALL BMW drivers so arrogant as to think the world revolves around them (especially X5 drivers)?

psst hereiam - let the thread die. I thought that I had got away with being provocative but if you bump it into active conservations someone may come along and take me to task!

hereiam · 20/04/2007 19:42

2 threads in 2 days, I should have put...!

hereiam · 20/04/2007 19:41

and I drive a BMW... a lovely one and its my 2nd BMW. Love it... it makes me a petrol head.

I've killed 2 threads in 23 days so this will be my 3rd in 3 days no doubt!!

Spidermama · 20/04/2007 19:00

That shut you up.
Too scaredy cat to say it to our faces then?

Actually I confess my BMW cost £150 from Ebay.

Spidermama · 20/04/2007 18:22

I drive a BMW.

HyperspaceManatee · 20/04/2007 18:21

A friend of mine had an X5 but got rid of it because of its extremely poor MPG

handlemecarefully · 20/04/2007 18:20

Although I agree without reservation that overtaking on a mini roundabout is supremely fuckwitted irrespective of the make and model of vehicle that is being driven

handlemecarefully · 20/04/2007 18:19

I just wish people would call a spade a spade and admit that the reason they don't like BMW X5 drivers (I don't drive one btw) is because they are pissed that they don't have £50,000 to spend on one

MerryMarigold · 20/04/2007 18:16

yeah, i'm a prejudiced f*wit - me, and many others. so the answer to your question, hana is 'yes'.

volvo estate? Gas guzzling monsters! That electric whizz car thing or the prius (or whatever it's called) is more MN friendly or a good old fashioned pair of legs (bike for long journeys with one of those scary looking dangerous child troleys attached to the back!!!)

handlemecarefully · 20/04/2007 18:02

"do people really see a BMW and think these things? Really? "

No, only the fuckwits hana

MerryMarigold · 20/04/2007 17:57

i didn't know you could still get rovers!!

i imagine the MN crew to be more the volvo estate gang...

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 20/04/2007 17:49

you won it? how? I would also drive a rover if I won it (and would probably drive like a blind 80 yr old too, as is the rule!!!! )

Manictigger · 20/04/2007 17:35

Oooooh how dare you!!!!!! (You.....BMW driver ) Actually I do only drive a Rover because I won it. I would actually prefer ANY car with 4 doors so that I still have a working back by the time lo is walking.

Gingermonkey · 20/04/2007 17:21

I do agree tho, actually with the BMW drivers as a general rule are twats theory, although some of us are very nice (and I suppose technically as a mini driver I am a BMW driver and I do admit to acting a bit lairy in my mini and to quote DH drive like a maniac ).
Rover drivers IME drive like 100 yr olds and have no concept of the road, does anyone else agree? >>>>

MerryMarigold · 20/04/2007 11:24

sorry, bossykate. didn't mean to make you angry. but i am feeling scarred by one to many run-ins with rude BMW drivers. i'm sure you're not an arrogant driver, but many are - and that's why they have this reputation. it's not just jealousy (i am fine with audi, saab, merc, lexus).

lol norks!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/04/2007 17:04

I rarely notice makes of car - they all look the same.

At least they do from high up in my Range Rover

hana · 19/04/2007 17:00

maybe I'm just not aware of it
hardly drive it though, dh calls it our expensive tesco trolly....

bossykate · 19/04/2007 16:59

hana, i honestly think they do, i've been treated noticeably worse by other road users since we've had ours. will see what dh thinks.

hana · 19/04/2007 16:49

do people really see a BMW and think these things? Really?

hana · 19/04/2007 16:48

oh foghorn, snap.
A Very Considerate Driver, me

Furrymummy · 19/04/2007 16:48

My faith in humanity is restored

FoghornLeghorn · 19/04/2007 16:46

Nope ! I used to drive a BMW 3 series and I am a lovely driver

Furrymummy · 19/04/2007 16:45

You are totally unreasonable. Don't you know that BMW drivers own the road? Indicators are optional extras and they have a special button that allows them to move straight into Lane 3 from the sliproad onto the motorway.
How dare you get in the way of the BMW with your unworthy scab car!
I nearly got ran into by a BMW driver who wouldn't slow down from 90 when I was cruising at 70 past a slip road he wanted to go down. Tosser. I know one BMW driver who is nice, and I'm sure there are lots of others too. But it seems to me in my 60 mile round trip up and down the A19 every day that way too many people driving big German executive saloons (I've seen this attitude with Audi and Merc drivers as well)need lessons in being courteous to people who don't drive posh fancy cars.
