I couldn't help it

I heard him go stomping into the boys' room (they are 2 and 4) and say, in his best righteous no-messing voice, "WHICH boy has spilt something strange on the bathroom floor?". Silence. "WELL?". Silence. More stomping as he goes back to the bathroom to assess the damage. Then back to the bedroom. "Right, now this is VERY serious. WHICH boy poured something strange into the bath and then danced in it? WELL?". "Nobody, Daddy, it was just an accident, we spilt some of your green shampoo." DH: "Now, I KNOW that's not true, because there are muddy footprints in the bath!"

DH: "Right. Now I want you both to go STRAIGHT to sleep, and I do not want to hear any giggling or silly noises. If I do, I will come up and take away Bed-duck AND Minty." (their bed-friends)

He's still stomping about downstairs in a mood about it, it's only a bit of shampoo, fgs

farting with intent - DEMERIT!

pmsl

marieg76 · 19/04/2007 11:00

I am getting some very strange looks from my colleagues (sitting here laughing to myself) - I've just had to pretend that I have hiccups as I'm making strange noises trying to suppress my laughter.

Funniest thread in a while - thanks ladies!

PinkTulips · 19/04/2007 10:55

pmsl at poor twinset sitting in a puddle infront of a room full of boys!

MrsThiery, my ds does that too... i get ever so cross and pull him away from the boob and he just goes into fits laughing at me, and then i end up in fits of giggles.... so of course next time he feeds he bites me again. my nipples may not survive him!

UnquietDad · 19/04/2007 10:36

I love the "Which boy...?"
Sounds like he models himself on Mr Wilkins from Anthony Buckeridge's Jennings books.

OrmIrian · 19/04/2007 10:34

Poor Mr Greensleeves....

Pre-kids you never ever realise just what humiliations await you.... LOL.

BrownSuga · 19/04/2007 10:27

Please stop , I'm about to fall off my chair. Must go read the times to get all serious again.

oliveoil · 19/04/2007 10:22

IcingOnTheCake · 19/04/2007 10:19

suzycreamcheese · 19/04/2007 10:15

Fillyjonk · 19/04/2007 07:36

am rofl at twinsets difficulty, also

VeniVidiVickiQV · 19/04/2007 01:45

How on EARTH could he expect them not to giggle or make silly noises after he had said "Or I'll take Bed-duck and Minty away"?

Because, at the ripe old age of 31, I am stifling a giggle just reading it!

twinsetandpearls · 19/04/2007 00:43

i had never noticed it but now it is driving me mad - thanks!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/04/2007 00:41

But whilst on the subject of tellings-off, I wish the NS&I advert would stop giving me the finger. It's putting me off my MNing.

I found myself shouting at a boy in class just before the holidays as he keeps farting deliberatly and as I heard myself bellowing at him across the room to stop "farting with intent" I just thought I sounded so ridiculous that I started to giggle and I couldn't stop and before I knew it I had peed my knickers meaning that I had to change my lesson as if I could not leave my seat as I could feel a little puddle on my seat!

MrsThierryHenry · 18/04/2007 23:50

My friend's brother mooned at the teacher, then the school sent a letter home to his folks. When his mum confronted him about it she was shaking, I tell you, shaking, and had to walk out of the room so that she could laugh without him knowing - but bless him, he got the wrong idea and thought he'd made her so angry that she couldn't bear to look at him!

I have a 4 month old who I tell sternly not to bite me during bfing...when I do, he laughs! Is this normal?!! Or is he a psycho...mwahahahaharrr (actually he's lovely)xx

WendyWeber · 18/04/2007 23:42

Oh I do love threads like this - cackles at every post

And I've done it myself and they have smirked and I have got madder. It's a thankless job being a snotty parent.

Greensleeves · 18/04/2007 23:42

LOL Hunker

I remember one of my primary teachers going completely ape-shit because some of the boys had been getting together at playtime to piss in each other's shoes

I remember being in a lesson (as a student teacher) where the teacher had to tell two boys off for flushing their socks down the toilet. Their OWN socks.

Greensleeves · 18/04/2007 23:40

No, they're not at all uncomprehending, they know exactly what the're doing and they are deliciously mischievous, I heard more suppressed giggling after dh had left them

Blu · 18/04/2007 23:39

I can just imagine Bed-duck and Minty in orange boiler suits, shackled and being carried on stretchers out of the room.....

did they dance in it?

SparklyGothKat · 18/04/2007 23:38

'something strange' started me lol-ing!!!

mollymawk · 18/04/2007 23:38

You are very reasonable.
And this has made me laugh as I struggle with some tedious work. Especially the 1950s schoolmaster act ("Which boy...") applied to two no doubt uncomprehending little ones.

MrsWottinger · 18/04/2007 23:38

bed-duck? does he have ducks for all occasions? well, i suppose there's toilet duck. efficient but not what you'd call cuddly.

Greensleeves · 18/04/2007 23:36

Yup, Bed-duck and Minty are still in their respective boys' arms
