To hate it that it gets so personal on here sometimes.

The majority of people on mn are very nice but i think it gets too personal sometimes when there is a debate going on. I just don't get how some just can't seem to voice opinions constuctivly without knocking someone down because then it seems to catch on and before you know it, some poor sole is getting insults left, right and centre.

I do wonder why mn isn't moderated better. I realise that lots of threads under different topics are started each day, but the ones that get nasty and personal are usually the very long threads that last days so shouldn't be that hard to seek out.

I do wonder though when someone is getting a thrashing in a debate, how that person must be feeling really. Then i wonder about the people who are typing the nasty stuff whether they would say the stuff to a persons face in real life. I doubt it because it's very easy to hide behind a keyboard.

Sorry this is long but the personal thing is the only thing that annoys me about mn.

kks, if it upsets you that much, it is sometimes the right time to take a break.

Beetrootccio · 18/04/2007 15:03

kks - are you the original KS btw?

clairemow · 18/04/2007 15:02

kks, I think the problem with moderating the site is that it's impossible to monitor all the posts on all the threads on MN, so the MNTowers people are reliant on MN members themselves reporting anything abusive. You can click on the little exclamation mark on the right of each post to report to MN, and if the post is offensive, it will be deleted. I have seen entire threads deleted too..

oliveoil at that insult to you - how horrible.

OO at the risk of sounding like a stalker, you always make me laugh out loud

nimby · 18/04/2007 15:01

good point kks, sometimes it is very easy for people to hide behind their not-rl names. I bet there are some subjects that people dont bother posting on because its just not worth the hassle.......
yes agree to don hard hat!!!!

expatinscotland · 18/04/2007 15:01

I must have left it there, Aitch .

Oh, wait, I don't go on babycentre, mainly because I went on there and there were some folks I knew in RL, and I knew they were talking out their e*se on there.

Blondelle · 18/04/2007 15:00

I think the lack of moderation is what makes MN work so well.

I was always getting my posts deleted at babycentre for saying things like 'i don't think you should wean your child at 12 weeks because it may harm them' which results in a big hoo ha and the post gets taken.

Hilllary · 18/04/2007 15:00

I know what you mean kks I got a right grilling from a MNetter yesterday, she just picked me out, never heard of her.

AitchTwoOh · 18/04/2007 14:59
