To expect my neighbours to stop flicking their lit fags and food over into my garden???

I live in a terraced house, my neighbours keep flicking their lit ciggarettes into my garden when they have finished with them, have also found a few on my rabbits hay, which anyone would know is really dangerous in this weather.

They also keep throwing food into my garden, scotch eggs, My dd is anaphylactic to egg, its really getting up my nose, they keep denitying it but it can be anyone else.

What can I do?

Am I being unreasonable?

The other day, I read about a kitten that was snatched and dropped again by an eagle - watch out for low-flying cats .

Hilllary · 18/04/2007 14:16

Hi LilRed, will do (I dont spend my life on here honest, just putting on some ads)

Really Dabbles gosh I didn't know that, Why do people do it, whats the point? I wouldnt dream of doing that, even when I bought our puppy I went to my next door neighbour(the other one) to make sure it was not affecting them in any way (noise etc), I think its the fact they know of my dd's allergies and of the extent of them too, plus the possiblility of hitting a child with a lit fag, we keep ourselves to ourselves done nothng to offend them

I will put my camcorder on and see if I can catch footage (have a night Vision camera too)

Thanks for that, Did laugh at the thought of chain smoking Seagulls

lol flipflopper - have visions of rough looking chain smoking seagulls flying 'round yer house dropping litter

fryalot · 18/04/2007 12:12

dabbles, that's a fab idea.

Dabbles · 18/04/2007 12:12

I had this problme, neighbours throwing lit cig butts into garden. so i constacted the community poilice officer. Littering offences now extend to private property and they can issus an on the spot fine. get community police office round, gather evidence and give to him to bring back round to them and threathen a fine! it worked for us!

flipflopper · 18/04/2007 12:11

a seagull once dropped a mini pork pie in our garden...
don't think you could blame them for lit fags though....

kimi · 18/04/2007 12:01

Round it ALL up and post it ALL back through their letter box!

Washersaurus · 18/04/2007 11:57

No helpful advice, just wanted to voice my sympathy for you with your nasty neighbours - it is terrible how much of a negative effect a family like that can have on your life. I agree with the others who recommended contacting the council or police - even if they can't help you directly they may be able to give you some useful advice.

chocolattegirl · 18/04/2007 11:38

How about those nets you can fit at the top of fences to stop balls coming over? It may not stop the fags but it should catch the scotch eggs.

What a bizarre thing to do - throwing eggs around.

LilRedWG · 18/04/2007 09:18

Call the police and see what they advise. It may be that a visit from the local bobby will scare them enough

Hilllary · 18/04/2007 09:13

Well I'm thinking/hoping its the teenage daughter flicking them out of her bedroom window, I dont want to go around there, very rough lot, I've voiced my dissaprooval over the fence.

Do you know which individual it is doing it? Agree that you shouldn't go round - they sound really nasty.

spykid · 18/04/2007 09:08

Ah, then I wouldnt go round

Agree, phone environmental health

Hilllary · 18/04/2007 09:08

Its not my dd, she's only 3, dont have scotch eggs in my house & I dont smoke

Call Environmental Health and/or the police.

Hilllary · 18/04/2007 09:07

Yes we all own our own houses, they are not a nice family, they were out in the garden with their little ones (about 4 kids under teh age of 6) cousins and sisters etc. The father was calling them "fekkin Ugly selfish Btchs" "stupid whores" etc, they were singing nursery rhymes and he said if you dont shut your bleep bleep mouthes you'll be f'ing sorry" then he put them in a corner of the garden and sprayed them with a power hose

I would throw them back, thrn have a word

LilRedWG · 18/04/2007 09:04

Poor DD

LilRedWG · 18/04/2007 09:04

Agree with Squonk - contact the council and ask for advise. Is this their DD doing it then?

Hilllary · 18/04/2007 09:03

No squonk they know she is allergic which makes it worse, Its like attempted murder cant be anyone else. She cant even mix due to the extent of her allergies and I have to home educate too.

do they own their house?

if they are causing a nuisance you can go to environmental health and ask your council about the anti social behaviour officer.

if its social rented there are other things you can do

fryalot · 18/04/2007 09:02

Can you contact the council? It's ridiculous that you are scared to let your dd play in your own garden.

Hilllary · 18/04/2007 09:01

Hi LilRed, they know she does it, she is totally out of control, I think I will flick them all back, feel a bit bad throwing stuff over the fence but at the end of the day its theirs originally,

I'm worried that a lit fag end will find its way to my dd playing or end up in my dd's pram when she's in the garden. Also If my dd comes into contact with an egg she will go into anaphylactic shock within minutes, I'm scared to let her out.
