to be put off by the amount of money spent to make programs for comedy relief?

Surely they could just put that money to good use here and abroad.

AND I'm absolutely DISGUSTED by the gluttony and drunkeness in the Fame Academy house. they are doing this for STARVING people. Get a grip on reality.

Some smaller charities have practically no overhead - friends of mine run this one, for example

Soweto Connection

and they have no overheads except bank charges transferring money to the groups they support - about 99p in every pound donated goes to work on the ground in townships in Africa. But without the bigger charities spending money, raising awareness, nobody would understand the issues enough to support Soweto COnnection. In a way, they are free riding on the bigger charities.

Still, I prefer to give to them, cause I know the money is going straight to work

Have always been suspicious, I think it rates as one of the worst for the amount it takes for 'administration'. Think the celebs only get involved because it's good for their image. Children in Need is the only one I've heard of where all the money donated goes direct to the good cause.

I agree. I have heard it said that the larger the charity, the lesser the percentage of its funds go to good causes. Comic relief has lost the plot completely.
