What do you get irrationally annoyed about?

I have been smiling to myself at 'am I being unreasonable to want to go to the BBC HQ and bite someone' and 'am I being unreasonable to be Homicidal with Rage about ...' threads

I am generally a chilled person ... I can't get myself worked up about parent and toddler car parking threads for example ...
And laughed till I cried over the 'grapes' thread years ago on Mumsnet ...

BUT: When I help my children do a jigsaw puzzle and find at the end that there is a piece missing I get soooooooooooooo irrationally angry that I want to chuck a chair out of the window ....
Obviously I don't ... as I am a 'nice mummy' and I would scare my children. But inside I am screaming "Where is that faaaaaarrrrrking jigsaw piece????????"
I have to go and take deep breaths and calm down or have a gin
I am the same with lost shoes.
And if someone parks their car on the pavement on the way to school and I have to push the buggy out onto the road to get past I have to suppress an urge to run my keys down the side of that car

So, what silly thing do you get irrationally cross about????

four, coz that really gets my back up as well. There was a question when I took my driving test: "you're driving down the M6 at 68 mph. Which lane are you in?" I hope they FAILED everyone who didn't answer "left hand lane, unless I'm overtaking"

clairemow · 28/02/2007 13:11

think we're three of a kind on motorways matey and frog!

clairemow · 28/02/2007 13:10

oh yes, apostrophe's in the wrong place... LOL. Hate that.

cold callers on the doorstep who refuse to leave information so that I can make an informed decision.

people who drive in the middle lane of the motorway when they aren't overtaking.

oh dear, feeling quite narked now. off to start another thread...

mateychops · 28/02/2007 13:10

YIAM, I'm like that too! And I get called a control freak. Delighted to know that I'm not alone in the world.

ThisFrogIsGonnaWhoopYouAss · 28/02/2007 13:10

People who drive in the middle / outside lane of the motorway when there is nothing to the left of them. FFS if you are not overtaking the GET BACK INTO THE INSIDE LANE, MUPPETS

yeahinaminute · 28/02/2007 13:07

The inability of the rest of the household to load a dishwasher correctly - despite numerous "masterclasses"

It's:
Fork tines - UP
Knife blades - DOWN
Spoons separated to prevent "spooning"
Check that large dishes are loaded at the back to allow clearance for the whizzy thing
Cups, glasses etc on top tray

It's not rocket science ffs - it's a practical household task

fryalot · 28/02/2007 13:02

(they're 21/2 and 1 btw)

ipanemagirl · 28/02/2007 13:02

Newsreaders who are falling out of their tops
(sorry started another thread on telly addicts about Kate Silverton and her gratuitous breakfast cleavage today) Just be a grown up and put it away you're at work!

fryalot · 28/02/2007 13:02

when the little ones are awake, I let them talk to the caller. It amuses me, keeps them quiet and probably annoys the SH*T out of the salesperson (hee hee)

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 28/02/2007 13:01

Oh that would make me irrationally annoyed!! Or maybe even rationally annoyed! Three times a week, that's still a lot!

fryalot · 28/02/2007 12:58

yes. Did it and everything was fine until a STUPID, STUPID, STUPID man went and registered for something on the internet and gave our phone number out.

(irrationally annoyed at dp again now)

Keep meaning to do it again but tbh, it only happens about three times a week now.

ipanemagirl · 28/02/2007 12:58

Happy Daddy I want them to eat their dog's poo and then I want them to be put in prison for ever where they will not be allowed to keep a poo making machine.

I hate the word MOIST and the wrong use of "literally". And people who say "It's a no-brainer" and "Do the Math"
Those annoy me hugely.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 28/02/2007 12:57

Squonk have you tried the Telephone Preference Service?

robbosmum · 28/02/2007 12:57

these are so good, i am pmsl,,, especially custardo who must have steam coming out of her ears 24/7

fryalot · 28/02/2007 12:54

when people ring to try to sell me something. It's always when I've just got the kiddies off to sleep, the phone wakes them up, then the caller HANGS UP because they wanted dp and not someone with a girlie voice!!!

(although I don't think that's too irrational, I just wanted to get it off my chest)

ThisFrogIsGonnaWhoopYouAss · 28/02/2007 12:52

When people ing while I'm in the middle of something! I mean, they have absolutely no way of knowing that I am up to m eyes in something, but I still get really mad, and am often quite rude and hang up on them

doots · 28/02/2007 12:50

Custardo - you have made me laugh today, you're really angry
Oh and I'm one of those f*ckers who parks by a pump and then goes in to buy something but only when it's not busy and because I want to be able to see the children if I've left them in the car so there....

Cloudhopper · 28/02/2007 12:46

I'm irrationally annoyed about the lottery for school places in Brighton, considering I don't live there.

clumsymum · 28/02/2007 12:44

LieselVentouse

Your anger about that isn't irrational. I'd plant a banger in your lawn and next time the dog is about to crap there I'd set it off (long electronic fuse required obviously).

And I'm a dog lover, owner of 2.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 28/02/2007 12:44

Oh talking about dog poo: (tmi alert)

It really annoys me when one of my dogs does a poo, and I go to pick it up, only to find it's cold. Which means... it's another dog's turd!!! That someone else hasn't picked up! Of course I can't put it back, so I pick it up, and then hunt for my dog's turd as well to pick that up!

LieselVentouse · 28/02/2007 12:39

Yeah and I want to kill the man with the Westie who only comes round and 6.30am (which is actually the time I get up) and lets his dog craap all over our garden and out the bit at the front where the kids play. I'll be ready for him tomorrow (my anger on this one does slightly worry me)

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 28/02/2007 12:36

Oh Squonk, yes, "literally". My favourite quote though came from a colleague who said, "oh she's such a suck. She's literally licking his bum," which rather than making me irrationally annoyed made me pmsl!

shonaspurtle · 28/02/2007 12:32

That whenever dh cooks there is a film of oil over every surface of the kitchen including the floor, door handles...

That the spread tub is full of totally mangled spread full of toast crumbs

That my next door neighbour has to slam her front door to shut it because there's something wrong with the catch. She gets home at odd hours of the night and this has been going on for 6 months

Ok, these are annoying things but I really want to stab the people involved and sometimes my barely contained rage scares me a bit

LieselVentouse · 28/02/2007 12:32

Have to agree with you about bap and gusset though. I hate the word pamper as well

fryalot · 28/02/2007 12:32

When people use the word "literally" when they don't really mean it..... eg: "He worked so hard, he LITERALLY worked himself into the ground"

WHAT? You needed a spade to dig him out?

He had to tunnel up to you so he could have a cup of tea?

You mean he worked quite hard, don't you?
