HEELIES.............annoying children

Using them in the shops today,, i was trying to buy a swimming costume, left kids with dh for the pleasure of looking at myself in a full length mirror in a swimming costume, much tears, and then being confronted families of children using heelies in the shops. grrrrrrrrr., and SOMebody run over my toe with her pram

Tort - Who collects the fines? Can you be let off with a warning if you dont live in the town and didnt know their.............

I always think they are going to go through a shop window or something like that, then the parents would want to sue someone no doubt.

i was tlaking to my bf about this the other day, saying i expected to start seeing signs on shop doors saying they arent allowed in because of health and safety issues

two days later i was in a local garden centre , and lo and behold there was the sign!

no didnt do that because my mother would have been vee cross.

But I did however have a complete melt down in M and S arround clacker/space hopper age........... because Mum wouldnt buy me some red shoes (red patent wedgies) I screamed kicked and cried "all I waaanttt is soooome shoesssss"
Poor Mum. Much rather a child ran over my foot in some heelies that made that noise!

DS2 did go all big eyed and say plllleeeeaaaasssseeeee mommy, but was told NO.

I really dont like them. Ds wants a pair and he's been told no. How can they encourage exercise? All I see is children using them not actually walking Too risky imo considering their feet are still growing etc [sound like my mother know]

furcoatandnoknickers They have put signs up around the town and have fines of upto £500 (iirc)if anyone is caught wearing them.This includes scooters and other skates too.

oh tirnanog - I looooved clackers..banned because someone broke their wrist. We were always trying to do that, so we could miss school!

arf arf arf.....yeovil town have banned children from wearing them????? How are they going to inforce that?? Make them take them off and walk bear foot? Or impound the children till their parents get back?!!
How silly. Its just another craze. Its not gangs beeting up old ladies, or steeling sweets, or vandalizing stuff- they are just children.

I do however agree that in confined spaces THEIR PARENTS should tell them not to.

One of my daughters has them and she knows she musnt use the wheels in shops etc...and she doesnt.

I certainly would also tell another child not to do it if they seemed to be behaving dangerously to others.

We dont need laws for stuff like this, we just need parents to take charge of their kids and if not be prepared to step in.

I wouldnt have any objection if another parent told my child that they thought it might be dangerous.

I know we could get into arguments about how they would say it and would they use threatening behaviour etc. BUT come on honestly would you bollock my child or just politely tell them???
Well I wouldnt bollock yours either.
Neither would most of the people on mumsnet, neither would the people in my town etc. etc.

..........get the pop-corn?...........

It's the fact that they are a danger to others that makes them so blimmin irritating though.

But they are like any childhood craze aren't they? Potentially dangerous but usually short lived. I mean, what abour pogo sticks for example? Lethal!!

And as for space hoppers - my brother impaled himself atop a spiked fence thanks to his ! Ahhhh- those halcyon days!!!

I was thinking about these today as I walked around Tescos with children rolling past me. It can't be good to have to walk on your toes. I think they look awful and hope the phase will pass before dd gets any ideas!

The child did not give a stuff when she knocked the lady over, did not even say sorry.
Why should i feel sorry for her?
It was her own fault.
