HEELIES.............annoying children

Using them in the shops today,, i was trying to buy a swimming costume, left kids with dh for the pleasure of looking at myself in a full length mirror in a swimming costume, much tears, and then being confronted families of children using heelies in the shops. grrrrrrrrr., and SOMebody run over my toe with her pram

I don't think they're any worse, but it's odd that people wouldn't dream of letting their children rollerblade round Sainsbury's, would they? Though I did once see a kid on a trike causing havoc in our local one!

Why are they worse than roller blades or skate boards? Of course they shouldn't be using them indoors but that's the fault of the parents for not teaching their kids to use consideration and common sense. Of course my DS would never ever do that......I hope

LOL. So shaming! Although I think I'd almost rather weelie around the South Circular than do the 16 girls, pizza & terrified DH scenario!

Friend of mine saw a child going round St Albans Cathedral on heelies last week. Shouting and giggling needless to say.
There's a time & a place for everything - my kids run riot with the best of them...
...in the woods, at the park, in the playground, playing sport. Not at the shops or in a place of worship (even though I'm an atheist).

PMSL at the thought of myself on weelies. You'll all ROFL, but when scooters first came in I bought myself one at great expense to scoot to work on. I didn't realise that everyone would either laugh at me or hate me or that I would die of exhaustion at the meerest hint of an incline!!!!!! I am a prize muppet!

at bugsy and offspring belting round the South Circular on heelies. A good turn of speed definitely possible in the Forest Hill/Catford downhill drag!
Batters, IIRC you had hell on legs at dd's party last year with all those minxes and the home cinema. Surely a bracing trundle with mostly complete strangers round a suburban park miles away is going to appeal

Bugsy, I do honestly feel Richmond is the place to aim for in your case. I suggested Greenwich Park as I just knew getting to Richmond was a non-starter for us travelling in the other direction

I think there is one in Richmond Park too. I'll give you a definite answer nearer the time. It'll depend how strong I'm feeling about being in the car with the children for the 7 hours it takes to get from one side of London to t'other!

Hey batters (and bugsy too) bring your scary mini-daleks on the Maude walk Tigermoth and I are organising in Greenwich Park in May
I do find it disconcerting when a child is walking along one minute and then glides silently past you the next, in shops though. As though they are on castors...
Have not seen any Heely incidents in shops round my way...

I really disagree with this blanket ruling of stupid with weelies. A child may behave in an irresponsible way while wearing them, but just wearing them in a shop is not stupid in itself.
My DS wears his alot. He loves them & gets a great deal of pleasure out of them. He has never once knocked into anyone or done anything "stupid" in them.
Both my children were harder to control as toddlers when they used to run around without looking where they were going. Perhaps we shouldn't allow toddlers in shopping centres either - they can be pretty "stupid"!
(Can you all tell how much I loathe the word "stupid"? )
