HEELIES.............annoying children

Using them in the shops today,, i was trying to buy a swimming costume, left kids with dh for the pleasure of looking at myself in a full length mirror in a swimming costume, much tears, and then being confronted families of children using heelies in the shops. grrrrrrrrr., and SOMebody run over my toe with her pram

IMO Heelies are another route to fat kids who will not get enough excercise from walking/running the same distance they are 'sliding' on (or whatever they call it!). America - top example.

Sounds just like my dd, whom I call stick-insect when she calls me bouncy-castle, cheeky monkey! She's not super-coordinated but not hopeless either.

I would love some myself but know that I would spend most of my time on my bottom.

I don't think that Heelies annoy children though, do they?

My children love them especially using them in crowded shops when people are trying on swimming costumes. Well ....they probably would if they were allowed to. Actually while we're at it, why don't we just ban children from public places... annoying, noisy little things that they are...

Sauce - she's 6 and a half (the half V.important to a 6yo ).

She used to be very clumsy, partly because she's always been quite tall for her age and therefore a bit gangly! So we sent her to dance lessons and this improved things hugely.

She desperately wanted heelies which is unusual as she's not a very demanding child normally. She was promised them as a reward for something.

She is a determined madam though so I knew she'd persevere till she got the hang of them.

DD1 has a pair - she is very very controlled in them although it took her a couple of days to get used to them.

She LOVES them!

I have read some pretty heavy criticism/warnings on these Heelys now that I've actually Googled them to find some for dd's birthday. Stories of how dangerous they are, etc. I would never subject my children (nor anyone else!) to danger but how much truth is there in this? Are they any more dangerous than rollerskates? Would they be suitable for a 7-yr old?

No point letting yourself go just because you have kids, is there now? And who knows, I may get an unexpected visitor and it's always nice to be dressed up them (I shall bake a cake now too, just in case )

phew, it took me an hour but I am dressed and looking really quite gorgeous now (if I say so myself!) This cocktail dress and stilleto combo are just perfect for doing the housework in

I need to get a life and get dressed, and ds has had a poo so I should change his bum (but he seems quite happy sat in it!). Mumsnet is evil and stops me from doing anything useful around the house.

MAMFAF, if you are having a dig at MY spelling then carry on i have dyslexia and im used to it.
Both my children can spell very well thank you, in fact DS1 has a very high IQ despite also having Tourettes (feel free to take the piss out of that too if you like) we are used to sad little people like you!

Parents who let their children skate around shops knocking people over are stupid. Sorry if my oppion upsets those of you who fall in to that group.

dd1 would love a pair

I saw a little girl using them yesterday in Yeovil! She was holding her dad's hand and didn't seem to be causing anyone any problems.
