Neighbors habits that annoy you.

When people pull up outside your house early in the morning (to give a neighbour a lift) and they have the engine noisily 'idling' for 10 minutes or more instead of being considerate and turning the engine off while they wait.
Every sodding morning. Don't need to set an alarm.

It's not as if it's the middle of winter and the car needs warming up. It's not an old car either.

Atm they are very shouty at their kids it is last week of the holidays here andi think they are stressed but fgs they need to calm down.

vjg13 · 15/08/2016 09:53

Drive way blocking, dog barking, excessive garden maintenance, power tools have become the sound track to a summer's day!

BeautyQueenFromMars · 15/08/2016 09:52

Compared to many of these, our neighbours' habits are pretty mild. Still bloody annoying though!

They are naturally loud, emphatic talkers. Which is fine, until it gets to gone 11pm and they're having spirited, enthusiastic conversations at the tops of their voices in their kitchen with the doors and windows wide open. So we either get no sleep due to the noise, or get no sleep due to sweltering in the heat as we've had to close the windows to shut out the noise.

They also cook strong, stinky fish about twice a week. With every single window and door open. So we either have to put up with the smell (which we all hate), or again shut all of our doors and windows and put up with the heat.

And we can't complain because they're not doing anything unreasonable, just slightly inconsiderate!

The house on the other side is currently empty and up for sale. Fingers crossed we get quieter, non-fish-loving neighbours on that side Grin

I can't think of anything ours do that's particulary annoying beyond daily noise (dogs, kids etc) which is just life and I don't mind at all.

I have do my hoovering very early though (7am) as it's the only time I have around working very long day/night shifts. My neighbour's never said anything but I do wonder if they hate me.

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 15/08/2016 09:46

Ned I have a neighbour like that. Only she's not on my street, she's on the street behind but her kids are out and screaming from about 7am through till bedtime and it doesn't matter where you are in my house, you can hear her bloody kids.

She screams at them, they scream at her, they scream blue murder for no reason. There is no such thing as An Indoor Voice in that woman's life and I'm just grateful I don't live next door to her.

Dogsmom · 15/08/2016 09:44

Our neighbours aren't bad but we get loads of people using our drive to turn around on, it drives the dog up the wall and makes her bark which wakes the baby up.

We also have the girlfriend of a guy opposite and up a few doors who insists on parking opposite our drive instead of outside her boyfriends house so it's awkward to reverse out.

Beth2511 · 15/08/2016 09:43

Calls her fucking cat in repeatedly and very bloody loudly bang on bed time...

'hugo' 'hugoooooooooo' 'HUGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' 'come to mummy hugooo'

On repeat for 30 minutes

blitheringbuzzards1234 · 15/08/2016 09:39

In a previous house we had a noisy couple next door. He must have got cheap/free coal and every night about midnight, come rain or shine, whatever the season, the man would come out to the coal bunker, open the lid letting it fall back with a wallop, shovel the coal loudly into the bucket, drop the effing lid down with another wallop, stomp up the path and slam the door. We couldn't settle down to sleep until after this commotion. Also every weekend they'd come back from the pub and start a fight, sometimes I swear they must have been bouncing each other off the walls/furniture. Lovely when they were sober.

Greyhorses · 15/08/2016 09:38

Mine peeps through the garden fence when he thinks I can't see.

He also is obsessed with parking outside his house even though he has a tiny space and his stupidly long car does not fit. He ends up parking right up to the edge of my gates so I can't see to pull on or off and end up not being able to get on my own drive Angry

EssentialHummus · 15/08/2016 09:38

I have a "I bin 'ere 35 years, me" council tenant in a flat downstairs. Well done love. I'm sure smoking weed at 11am - midnight every hour on the hour has massively contributed to your longevity.

bonjournono · 15/08/2016 09:35

Our neighbours are very nosy. If we are ever in the garden, he will come and stare to see what we are doing. He stands just beside the fence where he thinks we can't see him. Hmm

Parking over our drive so that his other 2 cars can fit on his drive without being blocked in.

Having loud conversations late at night on their drive so we can hear it when we're in bed.

Verbena37 · 15/08/2016 09:34

We no longer talk to our neighbours because when we divided up our shared lawn totally appropriately and discussed with them by using the title deeds of the houses, they then decided we had moved the line and he had a massive go at me.

I cried because he was shouting over me in front of our builders and the. My DH decided to go round and talk to them that night and ended up shouting at them and slamming their front door as he left!

Oops!

They are really strange though. For the first year of them living here, she would hang out her washing and throw the peg bag (attached to the washing line) over to my side of the fence....leaving a manky cloth bag over our fence that visitors used to ask what it was. Really strange.

However, even though they barely speak to us, he decided he would bring in my bloody wheelie bins every week after the bin men have been and leave them by my front door as though he is being kind!

mando12345 · 15/08/2016 09:34

Letting their dog out at anytime between 11 to 12 pm in the back garden for a late night wee, and it just barks and barks! So irritating if I have an early night it usually wakes me up! Worst thing is in the hot weather we can't open our window as if we do the dog always wakes us up!

We have always had a dog and have never let ours do this.

Middleoftheroad · 15/08/2016 09:32

Pushing paper and leaves etc down the drain so it will eventually clog

All having loads of cars which cannot got on their drives and which thry park outside and then either start late at night orcearly morning, engine running for ages and various doors slamming on cars - surely you only need to open driver/passenget side, maybe the boot = 3 shuts, I counted 8 last night outisde my window grrrr x

Skittlesss · 15/08/2016 09:32

Arguing nearly every time the man comes home from work at 10.30pm. We only moved in a month ago. I don't know their names or anything but I know a lot about their private life :(

coolaschmoola · 15/08/2016 09:32

Dropping their bottles into the recycling box that is just beyond my lounge wall, right next to an air brick... Crap my pants every time!

AGruffaloCrumble · 15/08/2016 09:30

My neighbours stare in every time they walk past and I am always without fail breastfeeding. You'd think they'd learn by now!

pleasemothermay1 · 15/08/2016 09:30

Them currently haveing 7 dogs and listing to them bark all fucking night

VioletBam · 15/08/2016 09:28

Mine have a cat...lets call her Molly. Every evening at 7.00pm the lady shouts the cat in.

Moooooooooooooo LIE!

Moooooooooooooo LIE!

In an almost musical voice! I grit my teeth every time. The cat never goes in either!

liquidrevolution · 15/08/2016 09:27

Naked sex in the garden. Even in winter Confused. I wouldnt mind but she is a yowler and it wakes us up Hmm.

NorbertDentressangle · 15/08/2016 09:26

Juggles his ladders.

Well, not literally juggling them obviously but rearranges them noisily , usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

No idea why or what he does with them but it's annoying.

SlinkyVagabond · 15/08/2016 09:25

In old house, three students lived in next door terrace. Fine and dandy. Then we could hear this weird repetitive noise every night after they'd been to pub. Thud, thud, thud, rattle. Drove me absolutely crazy, not really loud, just enough to keep me awake. Then I realised-dart board! Asked them to move it to an internal wall, no problems.

NedStarksHead · 15/08/2016 09:25

Letting their kids scream and shout all day long.
At 8am, 11am, 1pm, 5pm & from about 6-9pm they just scream, and scream and scream and run up and down the stairs and we can hear every single fucking scream and every single time one of their brats kids loses their shit and has a meltdown which is about 10 times a day

All the while they stand outside smoking pot making my garden stink of it.

I used to be tolerant, but now I am not. They are raising beasts, not children.

DrPixiePants · 15/08/2016 09:24

Mine had a cockerel. Enough to said.

bestofbothhovis · 15/08/2016 09:23

Smoking weed right under our window (we are in a flat). Making the shared garden an absolute mess. Having tons of people come and go from there house. They all congregate outside their front door which is right under our living room and bedroom and they're noisy as anything
