to ask if anyone has had a psychic reading that was extremely accurate?

One that could not be down to cold reading. For example, giving out very specific details such as exact dates, unusual names, basically precise facts that cannot be fished for or guessed and are not vague?

My mum was given a reading by an astrologer (not psychic) and it had several things including ships - meeting someone involved in working with them - I think he even did a drawing of this...

FFW a few years she met my stepfather who at that time worked with fibreglass and other models but out in Saudi Arabia etc... a few years later he got a job in National Maritime Museum as a ship model conservator - no interest or details about ships before though...

little bit woo

fackinell · 11/05/2015 15:09

No I agree, that's why I said that was sensory. I do think they're much smarter than we give them credit for though. They are in touch with their instincts and use them for protection. I think humans could do be capable of this more if they trusted their instincts. I always advise to go with the gut.

FromSeaToShining · 11/05/2015 15:02

Some dogs can sense when their owners are about to have an epileptic seizure. They aren't psychically seeing the future, though. They have an ability to sense minute physical changes that people cannot observe. It's not controversial to say that various animals have different sense perceptions to humans (better hearing, etc.).

fackinell · 11/05/2015 15:01

TTWK, by foreboding I mean a feeling of something about to happen and not in a good way. It's commonly known for animals to take themselves off to die, dogs barking a strangers who turn out to be wrong uns, some of it is instinctive or sensory like an animal that can smell a diabetic or epileptic attack coming on.

My Gran's dog saved my mums like after she was playing in the garden and took unwell. He pulled at Gran's dress, whimpering and pulling her outside. From what I could gather my mum wasn't breathing (none of us can remember if it was choking or how this came about and DGran is no longer with us.) he knew something was wrong and as far as I'm aware he had no medical qualifications.

I had a reading when I was about 21 and it was a pile of rubbish.

My Mum was talked into one when she was about 23 by some friends she was away with. She was horribly sceptical especially when she came back to say "Well that was a pile of bollocks. She described the man I'm going to marry and it's either John Smith or

fackinell · 11/05/2015 14:53

Smileandnod, that sounds concerning!! Have you got support around you? I can't do any kind of remote reading but PM me if you want to chat. Thanks

fackinell · 11/05/2015 14:48

Thank you, Meerka.
I agree, there are so many charlatans out there that are a disgrace. I once paid £60 to see a 'TV psychic' in London. First of all she was a no show but I called her and she came out ranting about it being inconvenient. She was also completely stoned. Nothing she said made any sense, she fished for answers and added bits that'
were totally irrelevant. I told her I was not happy with the reading and neither was my friend. She got quite nasty about it. Awful experience but she we paid up as she seemed a bit unpredictable.

I have a few stories like that, that's why I had my minimal fee and no pay rule if they weren't happy. I wouldn't dream of ripping anyone off.

HellKitty · 11/05/2015 14:48

My cats run around like crazy just before the weather changes. I was always told it was because of the change in pressure in their ears.

TTWK · 11/05/2015 14:45

Fackinell, it is obvious that animals must be able to feel their senses. Or they wouldn't have them. They can see, hear, taste, smell, touch. Some have other senses we do not have, like magnetism, atmospheric pressure (which we can sense very poorly, like our ears popping on the tube), and sensing electrical signals, like sharks homing in on their prey. All this has been scientifically documented by examining animals and dissection. Proper experiments, and peer reviewed by others. This is what they use to sense storms, earthquakes, etc. Some of their senses are better than ours, so they can detect things sooner than us.

Now you seem to be making a claim that no science can back up, that they have foreboding, whatever that is. I take it some kind of ESP. What EVIDENCE do you have for this. The onus is on you to provide evidence or this extraordinary assertion.

Hakluyt · 11/05/2015 14:42

fack- I'm sorry you feel criticised.
But surely you don't expect everyone to just accept what you
say without question? Oh and I am a migraine sufferer and find the atmosphere around thunderstorms impressive and headachy. I assume other animals react to pressure changes in the same sort of way. No treason to believe there is anything paranormal about it.

SmileAndNod · 11/05/2015 14:40

Actually thinking about it I probably couldn't take any more bad news at the minute. I'd like to know though if my children will be ok and looked after should the worst happen.

I'm sorry for your losses fackinell, MC is just shit. Hoping for happier times for you

Meerka · 11/05/2015 14:36

I do think that almost all psychic readings are wrong and therés a LOT of charlatans in the field ... I suspect that quite a few of the charlatans actually genuinely do believe in their own powers, too.

I simply don't see how that can lead to saying that it is entirely impossible in all cases though. In a way I'm reminded of kangeroo care. It doesn't work all the time, but there -is- something in it. Though it was dismissed for a very long time. They don't know -why- it works sometimes but it does. Something very subtle going on there that can't quite be isolated.

Actually to really ascertain if there's anything in ~some~ people's psychic 'powers', I suppose you'd need to have someone recording their readings over time and see what proportions of their predictions were accurate, compared to the predictions of people who claim to be non-psychic. I can't see any other way of getting an accurate picture of it. Even then the methodology would be difficult. Perhaps get the test subjects to write down their predictions and see how many come to be accurate after 15 years? otherwise the recorder might influence results subtly.

(again, fackinell I think you've been absolutely gracious about all this).

fackinell · 11/05/2015 14:32

Still waiting to hear how you now what animals feel...

fackinell · 11/05/2015 14:30

Sorry to hear that, Smileandnod. Same here, I'll be booking one in soon as I can.

I agree, there's so much that we haven't even scratched the surface, we don't even know all there is to know about the conscious mind.

TTWK · 11/05/2015 14:30

A little vague but well done. You must be feeling rather pleased with yourself.

Any more vague than "I dreamt about No 8, and it was on the first day of G8"

Really? Honestly?

SmileAndNod · 11/05/2015 14:24

I am finding all of this quite fascinating and fackinell you're being very gracious. I probably err on the side of believing that there are lots of things that we don't understand. Wish I could go to someone to read my future as I'm having a shit time at the minute.

fackinell · 11/05/2015 14:18

A little vague but well done. You must be feeling rather pleased with yourself.

fackinell · 11/05/2015 14:17

TTWK, how do you know what animals feel? Is t that a little too like psychic phenomena for you?

Enjoying these stories though.

TTWK · 11/05/2015 14:16

I will honour what you asked and give you no 78.

The bus that was blown up was no 17758 on the TFL fleet, which has a 7 and an 8 in it. But, the train blown up at Aldgate was a C78 type stock.
The bombings were on 7/7 which is spookily close to 7/8
" of the victims of the first bomb at Aldgate were aged 30 and 48, which adds up to.....gasp.....78.

I could probably find lots more is I didn't have a life!

MamaLazarou · 11/05/2015 14:09

I had a tarot reading back in 2012 as I was desperately lovesick. I don't usually believe in that sort of thing but like I say I was absolutely desperate. I didn't tell the tarot reader anything, only that I wanted to know if things were going to work out with this guy I was obsessed with. He gave a me a very detailed reading and typed it all out for me. He told me that things would NOT work out with this guy but that I would get together with someone else, said I already knew him, described how we would get together and how happy we would be. Every single word of it came true.

I found the printout a year or two after we got married and showed it to my husband - he was really freaked out by how accurate it was!

Of course there is a reasonable explanation. But it's fun to wonder about.

"There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy..."

FromSeaToShining · 11/05/2015 14:03

I heard a story about a woman who worked in the South Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. When the first plane hit the North Tower, an announcement came over the loudspeaker that their building was secure and everyone should return to work. She thought she should get out of the building anyway and called her husband who told her to trust her instincts. She did so, left the building, and survived.

Was there anything psychic in her decision? I certainly wouldn't say so. Nobody knew what would happen on that terrible morning. This woman couldn't have predicted that another plane was going to hit the South Tower or that both buildings would collapse. She just knew it was a frightening situation and wanted to get as far away as she could from that scene of chaos and uncertainty.

fackinell · 11/05/2015 13:59

Finding the constant criticism quite draining today actually. I may bow out of this thread soon but I will honour what you asked and give you no 78.

TTWK · 11/05/2015 13:50

Animals use their senses to sense a storm coming, not a feeling of foreboding. They use hearing, smell, sensitivity to atmospheric pressure, which due to evolution, are in many cases more highly developed that ours.

Your dream of the 7/7 bombings (which is very vague anyway) is classic confirmation bias. I bet you've had loads of dreams about terrible events, most of which you don't even recall because they don't come to pass. But after the bombings you taken your dream and made it fit the event.

Number 8, the day of G8. Come on! If it had been another number you dreamt you would have found something else to fit it, the number of the bus blown up, the number of dead, the time of the bombs, etc etc. Or the gap between 2 of the bombs.

Give me any number from 1-100 and I will google the events of 7/7 and find a way of making it fit.

FromSeaToShining · 11/05/2015 13:50

Why is it that "psychics" nearly always identify extremely common names? It always seems to be names like John or George or Anne that "come through." Now if someone happened to say, "Your grandfather was Ambrose Aloysius Bullfinch," that might be quite impressive. I still wouldn't believe in the existence of psychics but I'd think the guessing was quite inspired.

I have two friends who visited the same psychic. She had no idea they knew each other. She told both of them that "someone called Michael" was important in their lives in some way or another. (Neither of them had any connection with anyone by that name beyond a few acquaintances.) Obviously that was simply her go-to name since Michael is a very common name in the English-speaking world.

fackinell · 11/05/2015 13:22

I believe that was your gut instinct actually. It's a primal thing, like when animals sense a storm coming. Slight changes in the atmosphere and that feeling of foreboding. Very similar happened to me about the London bombings. I didn't know what, where or when I just knew something was about to hit us in London (I lived there at the time.)

I saw fire, explosions and the number 8 over and over in my dreams. I was convinced it was Live 8 but it turned out to be the day of the G8. It all made sense after but I wished it could have been clearer. Mind you, how can you explain THAT to the police?

Re the holiday, my friend knew the budget, it was a very cheap deal and I knew she was doing it that day. Not a shock at all.
