I think doing it whilest a small baby is in a cot is very diffrent to doing it while child of any age is in the bed next to you, also i just dont under stand how any one could get aroused when you basically eye ball to eye ball with your child

I sure in cultures were people live in one room or huts this happens but not in the wester world were we dont have 6 family memebers to a room not when you have the CHOICE TO NOT HAVE SEX WITH A CHILD SLEEPING IN YOUR BED NEXT TO YOU WHY WOULD YOU DO IT.

I remember being woken up by the sound of my mother going at it with my stepson dad in the next room when I was about 10. No child should ever have to hear that shit

Andreynolds87 · 08/11/2024 16:14

It's sexual activity which, so is masturbation are people saying ok if childs asleep

solidgoldbrass · 26/06/2012 21:36

I think cats are much more offputting than sleeping babies - cats have a way of looking at you with such contempt.

bitofcheese · 26/06/2012 17:32

kelly - dh makes her go out of the room, i feel she looks at me looking pissed off. mind you, she always looks pissed off :D

KellyElly · 26/06/2012 14:32

bitofcheese yeah me too, they always stare. Freaks me out Grin

BonnieBumble · 26/06/2012 14:09

Why do people feel the need to overshare so much these days? If you want to have sex with the baby in bed, fine go ahead and do it. No need to tell all and sundry about it. Who cares?

Hownoobrooncoo · 26/06/2012 14:04

I don't think I'd feel comfortable. Trying to remember if we have as we have co slept a lot and have a big bed, honestly can't remember but probably no. I wouldn't judge others though and if they're happy for some quiet, gentle sex then so what, won't harm the baby.

bitofcheese · 26/06/2012 14:02

i feel awkward having sex infront of the cat.. :D

its not a FAVOURITE sheep or cow Grin, its the orphaned ones that they couldn't get adopted by another sheep or cow mother so they took it indoors so it wouldn't die LOL!

Shoesme · 26/06/2012 13:56

Me and the ex once had sex with our baby in the same bed, it was all going fine until he moved his arm so it touched mine, sort of killed it after that for me.

Latara · 25/06/2012 23:50

Yes pet water buffalo.
A bit like when farmers have their favourite cows or sheep.
In some Eastern European villages even in the 1940s the family's few farm animals would sleep in the cottages to keep the family warm...
Same principle but with water buffalo because it was rural Philippines approx.

I don't think you can buy them at Pets At Home though.

biddysmama - you mean have sex in another room as in Not The Bedroom With The Lights Off Missionary Position Only? Shocked actually. Just shocked.

LucieMay · 25/06/2012 23:17

pet water buffalo Grin

toofattorun · 25/06/2012 23:15

Gross. I could never do that.

biddysmama · 25/06/2012 22:55

i have my 20 week old and 22 month old sharing my bedroom, should we not be having sex in there

or shock horror we could do it in a different room?

Latara · 25/06/2012 21:58

PMSL at being watched by kittens :)

Latara · 25/06/2012 21:56

Sorry Ragamuffin, i'm looking over my spectacles in a prim way.
Noooo just still wrong.

catgirl1976 · 25/06/2012 21:49

Sooooooooooooo......... a third of Swedish women are child abusers?

That's quite a statistic .................

Grips required I think

RagamuffinAndFidget · 25/06/2012 21:49

Oh FFS Latara we're talking about parents having sex with their baby lying asleep half a metre away, not men beating their wives and making their entire brood of children watch.

Up until DS1 was twelve and a half months old we lived in a bedsit. One tiny, cramped room with a piddly little kitchen and a pathetic excuse for a bathroom. We had nowhere else to go and have sex, the closest we could get to privacy was the sofa, which was still touching our bed. We still HAD sex. DS1 is nearly three years old now and, as yet, doesn't seem to be affected by all the sex that was had in close proximity to him. He never woke up, we were quiet, it was all alright. Let go of those pearls, ladies.

Herrena · 25/06/2012 21:48

DH and I were once, ahem, getting busy when we happened to look around.

Our new kittens (barely 10 weeks old) were perched on the extreme end of the bed, huddled together and staring at us with expressions of utter horror.

That put me off sufficiently to never EVER want to try it with a baby in the bed!!

I don't really care what other people do though Wink

KellyElly · 25/06/2012 21:47

Monkey you are not understanding me. I am saying it is the choice of the individual whether they do or don't have sex whilst pregnant (some people think this is gross and many don't ) or do or don't have sex whilst their child is in the bed hence individual choice. My original post which you replied to was about how you can get turned on with a child sleeping beside to to which I replied then how can you get turned on with your child kicking and moving (alert and awake inside you). Whether you think these things are the same or not does not change the fact that people will make an individual choice how, when or where they have sex and what they find acceptable.

EclecticShock · 25/06/2012 21:42

Well, horses for courses :)

Latara · 25/06/2012 21:39

BTW I was kindly informed that i look very 'prim' by one of my patients recently - so i do have my 'prim' image to uphold you know. :)

monkeymoma · 25/06/2012 21:34

"Monkey child beside you child inside you - some people are comfortable to have sex in one or both of these situations and some aren't. Its individual choice isn't it."

no, co-sleeping sex is usually much much more of a choice than pregnant sex

pregnant sex choices: do it or have no sex life at all

co-sleeping sex choices: do it, go into another room or even onto the floor, or have no sex life at all

I don't think its wrong so long as the child is asleep and not physically touching, but I wouldn't choose it - there are plenty of other oportunities to have sex, didn't have as much choice when it came to pregnant sex though so its not at all the same

Latara · 25/06/2012 21:34

No. Ick. Just Wrong.

Everyone i know who grew up in cramped accommodation here or abroad chose not to share beds or even rooms with children if other options were available.
Some examples:

My grandad lived in a 2 bedroom terrace with his parents & 12 siblings; all had to watch their father beating & abusing their mother in close proximity until his father died young.

A Fillippino colleague grew up sharing a 1 room home with 5 children, parents & water buffalo.. but when she came here & got married she put her baby in their 2nd bedroom. She loved her childhood (especially her 'pet' water buffalo!) but hated sharing a room with parents & having no privacy; so didn't want her child to have the same.

One of my friends only just moved out of her 1 bedroom flat shared with her 2 yr old & her boyfriend. The 2 yr old had a cot bed in the lounge - my friend did not feel comfortable having sex with her child asleep in the same room.

Even a friend who had to share a studio flat with her boyfriend & his 2 kids would not have sex if they were at home too.
And when a colleague decided to put her new baby in a Moses basket next to the bed for the first 3 months - she told her husband that sex was only allowed when the baby was in another room.
