I apologise if the title offends.

I have a (not so D)H who is working very hard at the moment, Leaving the house around 10am back around 10pm

Last night I was feeling very drained from a tough day with the boys aged 3 & 4 as they had been whiny and clingy, I had earlier gone out to the site to deliver donuts and drinks to him and his friends who are working together on a big project. Came home made dinner, put his in the microwave ready for him and sent a message saying I was going to bed. He replied ok

Then he comes in storms in the bedroom ( I was asleep) going why the hell are you in bed?? where am I supposed to get dry after my shower (rather than dry himself with a towel, he spends around an hour with a hairdryer blasting him whilst he fiddles on his phone) I respond, I was asleep it is one room of the house, use a different one, he grabs the laptop slams the door storms off, comes back and says oh I suppose I will have to sort my dinner as well, i say yes its in the microwave

Shower goes on

Then off

Screw you its my damn house and if I want to relax in my bedroom I will.

At this point I move onto the sofa, not wanting to provoke a big row, figuring fine he is just stressed.

So he gets dry (hairdryer turned full whack) turns the hall light on wakes up the eldest boy, who is happy to see him and he him, bangs and crashes about getting his own dinner. We haven't spoken since.

We have been married 7 years and I still hate the noise of the stupid hairdryer, WIBU to respond to any further rubbish with its insertation? There is another hairdryer that lives in the study, so its not as if I was suggesting he didn't use the stupid thing

Glitter, that is very funny. Love the promise that it is an 'effortless' way to dry - how much effort do we need to avoid, in this age of obesity? Is towelling yourself down a major stress to most of us? Anyway, I don't believe it's effortless (unwanted mental image of having to grasp your ankles in order to get your underneath bits dry).

ObiWan · 23/08/2011 17:32

Until he was 8?! Wow, that's ..interesting.

I'm not even sure whether it is appropriate to laugh now. But my face is still Grin

Glitterknickaz · 23/08/2011 17:31

The only time I've used one in this fashion was post caesarean to dry my wound, on a v cool setting..... that was a godsend.

hester · 23/08/2011 17:30

Hmmmm. Yes, I think I would kill him.

Leave the bastard.

Glitterknickaz · 23/08/2011 17:29

looks like he's not alone in his preferences

ChocolateTeacup · 23/08/2011 17:29

Yes he does and I hope he kicks himself, I think he thought he would grow out of it, we were together 6 months, or until I first spent the night...

Blimey Pork!

Hmm was my reaction followed by Angry when he kept at it
It is his hairdryer, and he gets through a lot of them. his dad dried him until he was 8 and then got him his own one for his bedroom,

I am the only one stupid enough to live with him, we got together quite young

No he is a PFB

Slow typing, sorry x-posts!

ObiWan · 23/08/2011 17:27

I know it's bad form to derail threads, but I now have a burning Grin question.

Does your FIL know that his son spends an hour alone with a hair dryer because of him? What does he think?

And how long were you together before he disclosed this oddness?

PorkChopSter · 23/08/2011 17:25

Just when you think you've heard it all Shock Can you just tell me what your reaction was the first time he got the hairdryer out in front of you?
Is it your hairdryer? Does he have his own, dedicated to the purpose of? Did his dad dry him until he left home? Has he ever lived with anyone else? Does he have siblings?

ChocolateTeacup · 23/08/2011 17:19

know*

They all no but they just accept it as another one of his ways, but they don't have to live with it

How on earth do you explain this to friends and family if you have people staying over or vice versa? Does his friends not take the piss?

This would drive me fucking nuts, but then I have a very low tolerance for people doing ridiculous things!

Quenelle · 23/08/2011 17:18

He dries himself with a hairdryer? That's hilarious.

I had to dry myself with my tshirt today because I didn't pack a towel in my running kit this morning.

[heroic]

I didn't burst into flames or anything.

YADNBU by the way.

lachesis · 23/08/2011 17:16

I'm amazed at how many people go on to marry completely whacked up people like this. I dumped such weirdos at the dating stage. Dries self with hairdryer as Dad did when he was a baby . . . hmmm, fucking screwball. Dump.

olgafromthevolga · 23/08/2011 17:15

Phew, well done you - hope he grovels suitably this evening

ChocolateTeacup · 23/08/2011 17:14

No he doesn't they both have eczema, which I have convinced him will flare up with the drying

olgafromthevolga · 23/08/2011 17:13

have just had terrible thought - does he dry your DC's with the hairdryer? If he does then I think you need to nip this in the bud very quickly, or else future generations could be stuck in an endless cycle of hairdryer hell

Xiaoxiong · 23/08/2011 17:12

I am absolutely crying with laughter at the image of your DH with a phone in one hand drying himself off with a hairdryer. He is mental.

ChocolateTeacup · 23/08/2011 17:11

I still do, at the very least I expect grovelling when he does come home tonight

olgafromthevolga · 23/08/2011 17:09

Lord, I would want to throttle someone who insisted on drying himself with a bloody hairdryer, especially if they insisted on waking us all up when doing it.

ChocolateTeacup · 23/08/2011 17:09

Nope just a normalish bloke with normal hair and a high electricity bill

OP posts:
feralgirl · 23/08/2011 17:08

Christ, you are much more patient than I am. For waking me up and then waking up one of the kids I would've gone fekkin bananas. Hide the hairdryers until he apologises.

utah · 23/08/2011 17:08

Wouldn't the heat from the dryer make him sweaty, sounds very strange

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 23/08/2011 17:07

Is he a werewolf? Would explain the hairdryers (hirsutism) and the mood swings.
