Uncharted territory

OP posts:
BatchCookBabe · Yesterday 20:42

You have joined half an hour ago, after apparently knowing nothing about Mumsnet or what it is, and before the first page is full you're berating and bashing the site, and saying how unfriendly and unwelcoming everyone is, and all that jazz, when you haven't spoke to 99% of the posters! You didn't even start with a hello, or 'I'm new here can I say hi,' you've just come on and started having a go.

Not sure what you were expecting @Conways after coming straight in attacking us.

It’s about anything and everything. What do you want it to be about? Say what you want to talk about or ask advice on and then posters will respond accordingly (or not- there will always be posters who are rude or weird or want an argument, just like anywhere on the internet but you don’t have to engage with everyone who replies to you if you don’t want to.)

Waitingfordoggo · Yesterday 20:45

But what it’s really about is penis beakers, Pombears, screaming at the Sistine Chapel and cancelling the cheque, among many other things. Increasingly, AI seems to be getting involved, unfortunately.

Conways · Yesterday 20:18

Pardon?

Granted.

Undones · Yesterday 20:53

You have to learn morse code to read.
Every 8 out of 10 threads have i have he as my kids have SEN in the first 3 lines.
Mostly everything is over dramatised or exaggerated.
Everyones a high earner and owns something big.
The list goes on really.

Basically a load of made up shit to get a reaction from strangers.

MozzieFreeZone · Yesterday 20:58

@Undones
I think a lot of posters are skint !

EmpressaurusKitty · Yesterday 21:13

When I first came around 15 years ago it was about quiches, zombies & missing toasters.

Needmorelego · Yesterday 21:18

Advice
Gossip
Speaking in Code ("DH/DD/DS" etc)
Arguing about regional variations about what a bread roll is called
Being bitchy
Benefits Bashing
Hating Men

SummerBlueskies · Yesterday 21:20

A lot of posters will tell you to leave your husband over the slightest disagreement.
Others will tell you YABU when you don’t want to hear it
On the whole though I’ve had lots of great advice over the years, I scroll by threads that don’t interest me.
If you post looking for genuine advice and support you will usually find it, if you post to wind people up you will usually find your people.
That’s it in a nutshell

persisted · Yesterday 21:31

I have learned that my housekeeping standards are appalling, I am screwed when I retire, and where to buy some really good trousers. Top stuff.

As ever though if you ask a silly question you get a silly answer. If you don’t like that I’m not sure the internet is for you, let alone mumsnet.

EmailsaysOOO · Yesterday 21:44

You ask a question, receive responses, interact with the posters , give thanks , learn things and change other people's views on various topics..

MissingMeadow · Yesterday 21:51

I asked you 2 questions you've just ignored yet you're saying we are unwelcoming.

Hayley1256 · Yesterday 21:54

LTB, getting your ducks in a row, No is a complete answer, it's an invitation not a summons, if your throwing a party you need to provide a good amount of food, don't be a CF, 1 glass of wine means your an alcoholic and people asking if 5k a month after bills and main expenses is enough to live on 😅

Doozycan · Yesterday 22:39

I come here to read the comments as alot of them are bish bash bosh and after what reading this OP post very enlightening.
itotoko whats this anyone ?

Ukholidaysaregreat · Yesterday 22:41

Bloody love Mumsnet. If you aren't enjoying it, maybe it's not for you?

baroqueandblue · Yesterday 23:48

It's about picky teas, snapping and farting, head tilts and tinkly laughs, and if you don't already know that then YABVU.

IYSWIM.

ErrolTheDragon · Yesterday 23:58

Conways · Yesterday 20:31

To be honest it popped up when asking chat gpt something and I thought let's give it a go, but the heading I suppose I was after wasnt in the drop down list hence 'uncharted territory'.

what heading were you hoping for? Not everything under the sun has a specific topic, and some of the headings may not be obvious?

titchy · Today 00:02

Tbf OP needs some credit for ‘uncharted’ rather than the often used ‘unchartered’. OP Pedants’ Corner might be right up your street.

Unchartered waters are areas where you can’t rent a yacht, aren’t they?

Deadringer · Today 00:51

Its like walking into a shop and asking people what it is, instead of looking around and figuring it out. Weird.

Frankenspencer · Today 00:52

Op giving some early flounce game.

DoAWheelie · Today 00:58

It's a site to warn you about the spider willies if you get darked on.

And naice ham, pom bears, and penis beakers.

Flannelfeet · Today 01:06

I thought this was reddit I was on 😱.
