Uncharted territory

OP posts:
SummerBlueskies · Yesterday 21:20

A lot of posters will tell you to leave your husband over the slightest disagreement.
Others will tell you YABU when you don’t want to hear it
On the whole though I’ve had lots of great advice over the years, I scroll by threads that don’t interest me.
If you post looking for genuine advice and support you will usually find it, if you post to wind people up you will usually find your people.
That’s it in a nutshell

Advice
Gossip
Speaking in Code ("DH/DD/DS" etc)
Arguing about regional variations about what a bread roll is called
Being bitchy
Benefits Bashing
Hating Men

When I first came around 15 years ago it was about quiches, zombies & missing toasters.

MozzieFreeZone · Yesterday 20:58

@Undones
I think a lot of posters are skint !

Undones · Yesterday 20:53

You have to learn morse code to read.
Every 8 out of 10 threads have i have he as my kids have SEN in the first 3 lines.
Mostly everything is over dramatised or exaggerated.
Everyones a high earner and owns something big.
The list goes on really.

Basically a load of made up shit to get a reaction from strangers.

Pardon?

Granted.

Waitingfordoggo · Yesterday 20:45

But what it’s really about is penis beakers, Pombears, screaming at the Sistine Chapel and cancelling the cheque, among many other things. Increasingly, AI seems to be getting involved, unfortunately.

Waitingfordoggo · Yesterday 20:43

It’s about anything and everything. What do you want it to be about? Say what you want to talk about or ask advice on and then posters will respond accordingly (or not- there will always be posters who are rude or weird or want an argument, just like anywhere on the internet but you don’t have to engage with everyone who replies to you if you don’t want to.)

BatchCookBabe · Yesterday 20:42

You have joined half an hour ago, after apparently knowing nothing about Mumsnet or what it is, and before the first page is full you're berating and bashing the site, and saying how unfriendly and unwelcoming everyone is, and all that jazz, when you haven't spoke to 99% of the posters! You didn't even start with a hello, or 'I'm new here can I say hi,' you've just come on and started having a go.

Not sure what you were expecting @Conways after coming straight in attacking us.

.

AuroraBloom · Yesterday 20:41

My advice is if you want advice don't post in AIBU.

Conways · Yesterday 20:40

Ok thank you

It's about rainbows and unicorns.

You will get support and advice if you actually ask for it. You will also get a fair amount of negative feedback but that’s par for the course with an anonymous forum. But you started badly. If you asked something like: what do most people use MN for? You might have received some more succinct replies. Your ‘uncharted territory’ means nothing and leaves it open to the responses you have had.

Conways · Yesterday 20:37

Gosh I thought this would be welcoming yet its quite the opposite. How sad 😢

Support or advice maybe. Ive clearly come to the wrong place 😒

Depends on what kind of support and advice you're after. What are you looking for?

To be honest it popped up when asking chat gpt something and I thought let's give it a go, but the heading I suppose I was after wasnt in the drop down list hence 'uncharted territory'.

Did you not bother to look around first? Confused

Its like reddit, discord, fb groups etc.

Ive not been on here before and was genuinely interested but already not a nice experience

Well the thing is, when someone starts a thread with a very brief post like ‘Uncharted territory’ this is the kind of thread that happens & they gradually grow more random.

Anyway, welcome to MN, it has lots of threads that are about parenting but also loads of threads that aren’t. It might be the biggest mainly female chat site but I’m not sure.

Have a look round & dive in.
