I live in an area that is a muslim majority, Labour won by a landslide. A muslim candidate. I had female muslims knocking on my door, handing me leaflets, and they couldn't even speak English when I questioned them.

I think that the navy ships are effectively British territory. So if they pick someone up, and that person states that they are claiming asylum, they have to be brought back to the UK for processing.

Not to mention the practicalities eg a naval ship is generally huge and can’t intervene with a small dinghy.

I’m all for helping genuine asylum seekers. However, boat after boat arriving is overloading our support services. Our NHS is already struggling, our schools are crumbling, people are struggling to eat. We should be looking after each other first and foremost. Our country simply can’t afford to keep taking people in.
