We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

Our @Mumtobabyhavoc is alive because she liked my post 💕 Thinking of you!

I too like your 'go pouch' @SingleThreadJoiner2. I tend to use either a canvas summer bag or a leather winter bag so I do usually have what i need. I've learnt to take whichever season's bag it is with me wherever I go, but typically I learnt that the hard way, and only in the last couple of years...

I now have a rucksack as well, which for two weeks I have prepared daily for the following day's exercise so at nearly 60 I finally feel like I'm a proper adult ( I wish I'd been as organised when the children were small!)

I love windy weather @BerfyTigot but I'm probably an oddity in that regard so I cannot blame you for staying in. Well done for doing more with your dad's house. I'm doing similar with my mum's. Babysteps.

I was intending to go out on my bike ( I've just downloaded the sofa to saddle app) but as it's quite gusty and I haven't sat on the thing for at least five years, I decided against it and did a walking workout instead ( a mama mia one on youtube should anyone be interested) They sound easy but I got a proper sweat on this morning.

I've come over all @Peridot1 and brain dumped and written a list. It's a good feeling. Have a lovely evening with your friends @Peridot1 🧡

Hoping all those with workmen in/expected survive it. So worth it in the end! My kitchen is looking very jaded and something needs to be done. Neither DH nor I are doers so these things wait for far too long. I have no excuse as I'm mostly in charge of my own work workload, but I just never quite get round to making home improvements. Tidy and uncluttered is as good as it gets. But it's starting to feel a little bit drab.

Being the rebel that I am, I'm going to ignore it all and get my nose stuck in a book. Leftovers for dinner as it is every Saturday.

Best wishes to all!

BerfyTigot · 19/09/2026 12:13

Well life got in the way and I failed to make it to the charity shop. But I am decluttering another bag of books from dad's so all good.

Wild and windy weather here so I'm not venturing out!

I do like the idea of the go pouch @SingleThreadJoiner2 That's another project for this afternoon.

Well done everyone!

RunningKatie · 19/09/2026 11:44

Also hoping our @Mumtobabyhavoc is ok.
Today's been busy already, out this afternoon at dc's activity.
I've fixed the shoe rack, again!
Now trying to order a blind on a website that's not overly mobile friendly, just checked and it's in store so I might just give up and drive over.
Today I need to organise a food shop and generally make loads of stuff in the house magically disappear so the workmen can just get on. 2 weeks of chaos but it'll be wonderful when it's done.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Peridot1 · 19/09/2026 10:19

Morning all.

Hope @Mumtobabyhavoc is ok. She hasn’t been around for a few days which isn’t like her.

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - sounds like a satisfying task!

@WintersFrog - sounds like a lovely day.

I had PT session yesterday morning and then made up DS’s bed, stripped mine and washed bedding and remade bed. Did towel wash. Dusted dining area. Including ceilings - so many cobwebs! And did coffee table in sitting area.

Today - dishwasher is done. About to clean the lights over the dining table and the kitchen island. Now it’s getting darker in the evenings we put the lights on last night and i realised how bad the lights are! Also need a quick supermarket trip and post office to drop off a returns parcel. Then a general tidy round and vacuum. Hall needs dusting too. We are having friends over for dinner tonight so a bit of a house reset needed. Need to clean downstairs loo too. Tomorrow will be a nothing day!

Have a great Saturday all.

WintersFrog · 19/09/2026 06:55

The weather was beautiful @SingleThreadJoiner2 and we had a lovely day thank you. We're familiar with the place so we just walked in the gardens and I started a little bit of Christmas shopping in the shop.

This week has flown by and I'm quite surprised it's Saturday already. I would like to do a bit of a reset at home I think. I particularly want to sort out clothing, and clutter has started to creep again.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend 😘

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 18/09/2026 10:23

What fun @WintersFrog I hope the weather holds!

I am off work today too and am having the MOST satisfying time, I've emptied out my assorted handbags and rucksacks and tidied everything away, then made a "go pouch" of the basic things that I need whenever I go out (wallet, tissues, hair tie etc). I feel lighter and happier knowing that everything is just in one place now!

WintersFrog · 18/09/2026 08:55

That's brilliant @SingleThreadJoiner2 😆 You really couldn't make it up!

I grew up in a hamlet that had a pub, a chapel, a post office and it's own football team. Now it's just a suburb of the local town, which I still live in. The pub was demolished and turned into flats, the chapel is now a house, the post office is now two houses and the football pitch is currently a building site. But it is still on a bus route so that's something.

Hope you are all well. Day off today and we're planning a visit to a national trust place so I'm off to make a picnic.

Peridot1 · 17/09/2026 17:01

You couldn’t make it up could you @SingleThreadJoiner2? Glad it’s gone!

Hope @Mumtobabyhavoc is ok.

And everyone else of course!

not much achieved today here. Cleaned one window sill in kitchen and washed what was on it. Stripped DS’s bed as he is away tonight. Washed and hung up his bedding. Emptied and reloaded dishwasher. Then neighbour came over for a coffee to discuss some village shenanigans. He and DH are both on parish council. Then I went to M&S to return a jumper. Had lunch. Tried on some clothes. Bought nothing. Did a supermarket shop and came home.

Arrived back to find a parent from the school across the road parked in our driveway. She got a bit of a fright when I leaned on the horn! And then I wrote a strongly worded email to the head of the school.

Have a good rest of the day all.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 17/09/2026 16:28

I hope this isn't too outing but I thought you would appreciate this little story
new fridge delivered this morning. Hallway is a bit narrow at the moment due to a currently displaced item of furniture in the way, but after much huffing and puffing the delivery guys get it in the kitchen via the narrow side passage and the back door.

Old fridge - we had paid for its removal and scrapping. Apparently it's bigger and heavier than average (we didn't choose, it was there when we moved), after even more huffing and puffing they conclude it can't fit through the back (there was something making the passage too narrow) and they can't take it from the front because they will damage the item of furniture. So they leave it standing in the middle of the kitchen and told me that once I figured out a way to make space I could book a removal. And leave.

My lovely polish builders turn up, take off the door to make it lighter, and with considerable effort lift it over the obstacle in the narrow side passage and deposit it outside my front door, slightly mocking (to me) the delivery guys.

I called to rebook collection, was told that my husband who had placed the order and who is currently abroad had to write to them to authorise me to speak on his behalf. As he had given them my email address for the order I wrote said email and gave myself the authorization and called them back and hopefully the fridge will be gone by Monday at the latest....

watchPhone · 17/09/2026 15:55

Just checking in to see if @Mumtobabyhavoc is OK Flowers

mumofoneisonozempic · 17/09/2026 12:29

Left home at 8, just got home now. New phone secured after old one was damaged (long story). Only at the bargain cost of £30 per month for two years! 😖😖😖

Had to ask directions to the phone shop from an actual human, as had no Satnav! Luckily this guy drove and knew London well.

Sweeties and a coke zero for me, for surviving last night without a phone. I think I actually slept very well.

Love to you all, will catch up later - do take care, especially @Mumtobabyhavoc nothing matters more than our loved ones and our health 🩷

petalpower · 17/09/2026 09:49

Love the tiles @RunningKatie !
Hope you're ok @Mumtobabyhavoc - you have such a lot on your plate.
Good job on the newspapers @BerfyTigot . It’s amazing when doing something that seems like a small job makes such a big change.
I’m in a village too @Peridot1 and love it here. Not even a village shop here but we do have a community pub.

BerfyTigot · 16/09/2026 22:02

Today I recycled a LOAD of newspapers from my dad's house. Doesn't sound like much but I'm the only person who throws out stuff there so it's had a significant effect on the state of the house.

Tomorrow I'm tackling books, and taking them to charity shop.

RunningKatie · 16/09/2026 21:40

Hope all is ok @Mumtobabyhavoc
Delighted the tiles have been well received, I'm nervous for the job starting but hoping it goes smoothly. Last few times we've had trades in it hasn't been without drama.
Dc2 is under the weather, gone to bed early which is unheard of. We're waiting on an ENT referral but I think we need to see if we can get it escalated.
Love the mirror story @Peridot1 - glad there is a happy ending!
I still need to send off a box of books to World of Books. I promised the cash to dc1 to buy more books. I'm taking some time back from work soon so that might end up on the long list for then.

watchPhone · 16/09/2026 12:05

Morning slowly working through lists and lists of boring minutiae. I’ve managed to trek mud in everywhere from dog walks! My lovely walking boots that took me to Base Camp, across the Pyrenees and up mountains are dead - the leather has split right across the front - probably from drying them out on a radiator. They have been relegated to dog walking shoes.
Today’s list:

  • resolve the mystery of how the ladder that was hanging across the wall (on a bike rack) is now perfectly upright and propped up against the wall. Builders next door ???
  • brush up mud
  • work out which bins go out tomorrow
  • empty dishwasher and refill - how can one person use so many dishes!!!
  • empty the slush from recycled pods down drains
  • put away all the cleaning stuff from yesterday
  • chase up progress on my car 😱
  • Clean front of ovens
  • Been chatting to ChatGPT about one of the plants so been training it up a coir pole to see if the numerous tiny leaves become big leaves 🤣🤣
  • gather up all the random pegs 🤔
You can tell sibling is on holiday🤣. Have a great day all, SoE
Peridot1 · 16/09/2026 09:30

Ooh. Nice tiles @RunningKatie! I like them. They aren’t giving me prison vibes…..

@Mumtobabyhavoc - Hope you are ok?

Village life is very nice. It is a nice place to live. Some people you never see but the social ones are very nice and like a party! Not sure it does my liver much good though! If we had a shop it would be even better.

So. Bed-gate. We now have a collection day so can order the new bed. Had to threaten to escalate the matter as although I accepted the offer of a refund and collection they then ignored me despite two emails.

And Mirror-gate! Well it made it on to the DHL van on Tuesday. And I could live track it. I was delivery number 58. Tracked it through the morning and early afternoon. Then got the message driver was on way to drop number 57! Yay! I’m next!!! But no. Live tracking was switched off and no mirror was delivered. Yesterday morning I saw that it was back at the depot…. Then I got a message it was out for delivery. Would be delivered between 12.51 and 13.51. Which was way more precise than the previous day’s information. Live tracking showed I was drop number 31. Kept an eye on the tracking but didn’t want to get too excited. 12.51 came and went. At about 13.30 a van appeared. A man got out with a small box. And came to the door. Then said “hang on, I have something else for this address I think”. And there it was. My mirror. Finally!

Anyway. Jobs done yesterday - laundry, kitchen, hallway vacuumed, garden sofa cushions aired in the sun and then put away for winter. Some pots moved. Some weeding done. Some clothes tried on in front of new mirror. And went for a walk.

Today: dishwasher is emptied and one load of laundry is done. About to go for a walk. Then I’m going to clear out the fridge hopefully and give it a clean. I am going out for lunch with my neighbour so not sure how much else I’ll get done. Need to iron a shirt for DS. Might strip my bed too.

Have a good day all.

mumofoneisonozempic · 16/09/2026 08:11

@Mumtobabyhavoc I know the feeling, although you are balancing so much more - take all the time you need, we're here 🩷🩷

Youre doing an amazing job x

WintersFrog · 16/09/2026 07:08

I like those tiles too @RunningKatie!
I've got to get washing folded and away, put sheets in to wash then off to do some work followed by gym class. I need to drop off some of my mother's books to a local charity bookshop. They are in good condition but World of Books don't want then.
And I still haven't turned up my track suit bottoms.

WintersFrog · 16/09/2026 06:58

@Mumtobabyhavoc has it all caught up with you? You've been doing it all for everyone. Hope you can rest, and feel better soon 💕

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/09/2026 22:59

Dying here. Be back soon. 😵🥀🖤

I love them @RunningKatie
!!

mumofoneisonozempic · 15/09/2026 16:55

Tbf @Peridot1 your village sounds so lovely 😄, despite me loving city life, I can imagine strolling through giving it my best Kim Tate (I know you said it has less drama than emmerdale 😄)

I do feel guilty honestly. I am a worrier really.

Hope your mirror came, well done on getting your refund xx

@WinterFrogs i slept this morning but still feel very very bleugh. Did manage to pop to tescos and got a bargain on dd's sprinkles (40p a pack, down from 1.40!) which is her cupcakes sorted for a while. You made me laugh out loud re swimming. Life comes at you fast, honestly.

@RunningKatie its bloody hot here!! cant enjoy my cosy season properly - hopefully you'll get aircon on the train though

@watchPhone that's quite a list, hope it wasnt too taxing

Best to you all, on the greatest mumsnet thread going.

Just gonna spend the evening with dd relaxing and doomscrolling before attempting to get her to eat an egg noodle stir fry for dinner, and then giving her her instant noodles

🩷

RunningKatie · 15/09/2026 16:43

Here are the tiles @Peridot1 - dc2 has already said they look like chains and we're in prison. So, that's a jolly start!
I'm in the office tomorrow but with lunch laid on so one less packed lunch to sort tonight. Just need to sort my office appropriate outfit out.
Next week I'm in London and it's due to be 24 degrees! I'm leaving at 5am, home at 9pm, so whatever I wear is going to look crumpled and tired by the time I get back.
Just off to walk dc to their activity then I need to go for petrol and empty another bathroom cabinet. Who knew micropore tape had an expiry date on it?!

Daily Project Round 10
SingleThreadJoiner2 · 15/09/2026 12:00

I agree with @WintersFrog I love the sound of @Peridot1 's village life!!

Highs and lows here - yesterday was exhausting (left home to get train to London at 7am, back home 7pm) but worthwhile, on site day tomorrow cancelled mercifully, builders making good progress with the kitchen units.

But still chasing snagging, and this morning they set off the kitchen fire alarm while I was running a meeting, so had to rush off apologetically for a few minutes to sort it out. Also trying to get a parcel stuck in FedEx customs limbo unstuck...

WintersFrog · 15/09/2026 07:45

I don't blame you @BerfyTigot! It's the only way. That kind of dental work is very traumatic, even though you are numbed.

And don't be fooled about how productive we are! Personally I present my successes with a flourish purely because procrastination is my natural state of being 😎

My dad had a phrase about being either a good example or a horrible warning. I tried to be the former but sometime suspect I was the latter to my children. They've turned out to be quite well rounded individuals in the main so it couldn't have been all bad 😊

Next door's builders' mess adds insult to injury doesn't it @watchPhone! I bet Spiritdoggo thinks her lovely roll in stinky muck was worth a hose down. Haven't we all done similar? ( I mean doing the things we know will have consequences, not actually rolling on dead things!) I've certainly had my moments.

Brave dd, going with school transport @mumofoneisonozempic 💕 Hope you are catching up on some sleep!

@Peridot1 you are on fire! So much achieved ( and I love the asides on village and pub life!)

I've put a wash on, and the book box is in the car boot. Baby steps here folks. I'm off for a walk in a bit as I can't go swimming because it makes my hrt patch loose. I only have one left and GP has not yet approved my request for more. Talk about being the other end of the age range! At 13 it was 'can't go swimming miss (sniff) I've got a cold and a bad ankle'. Bit too achey to go to gym today so that's out as well, but I booked a class for tomorrow.

Got to go out mid morning for a routine appointment then meeting a friend for lunch. My project for today is to clear off top of a 'chester draws' then I probably ought to settle down to some actual wfh work this afternoon. So that's my day sorted!

Have a good one everyone ☕️
