Thanks everyone for thoughts. Today I am prepping the house and us for leaving. Calling catteries etc. So all the right buttons can be pushed if need be.

Thanks for all good wishes for yesterday everyone. It went very well. Everyone enjoyed it. We massively over catered. Excess food has been distributed to people. The dishwasher will be busy all day. Clean up is happening slowly.

The fire pit was lit in the evening and some people stayed quite late. We will be getting rid of bottles in the recycling for weeks!

Thnaks @petalpower . She's gone downhill and has a partial lung collapse. My father called about an hour ago and said to maybe put a suitcase together and to know where my passport is and he will update me in about 3 hours.

So I am doing that. Ds1 finishes his final GCSE exam 10.30 tomorrow morning and we have flexi tickets anyway for our trip in a few weeks. DH is still working away but said he can obviously come home to sort various pets out to kennels.

I'm possibly in a bit of a state. I've called a friend who can be on standby for pet provisions as required.

How is your mum doing @FourSeasonsLobelia ? Hope she has a smooth and speedy recovery and the next couple of weeks go quickly until you can be with her.

Is today going to be the grand clean up after the bbq @Peridot1 ? Hope you’ve got plenty of help and it doesn’t take too long. Did the weather turn out ok for you? It was a bit mixed here yesterday but dry all day. When the sun was out it was lovely but the air temp with cloud felt a bit chilly.
I keep meaning to say that the food you make always sounds amazing @Mumtobabyhavoc . Has the hair colour settled down yet?
I don’t know whether the rest of you are the same as me but I have quite clear images in my head of what you are all like! (Maybe that’s a bit weird…..)
Anyway, since we’ve been back home I’ve ticked off quite a few little niggly jobs and caught up with all the usual home admin. This morning I need to put a wood preservative on a big wooden planter that DH re-built yesterday - huge amounts of bad language and general cross-ness by him as it was a bigger job than expected. This afternoon we’re going to an open orchestra rehearsal at a really lovely concert hall about half an hour from here which should be good. Then home for a family dinner as both adult DC are here and also DD’s boyfriend.

Bad enough with the five year old here - response to what did you do at school today is 'don't know' or 'nothing'. Can't be coherent until snacks have been delivered 😆 I know the feeling.

I am on the patio, all by myself, scrolling on here with Steely Dan in my ears 🎧 ( thanks MN thread) to drown out the sound of next door kids arguing.

We've been tile shopping, no decisions made obviously, just much chat.
This week I've got a bonus day off work, cannot wait but the mum guilt has kicked in as dc1 has mocks so I feel I need to be here for them getting home. Still, I'm going out soon after they go to school to maximise my time to get jobs done and drink coffee

We had a lot of parties like your bbq when i was growing up. They were fun when someone else was doing the work. My mother was an excellent hostess and we had the biggest garden so their club parties happened at ours. In hindsight they were pretty wild ( I was a child if the 60s/70s so you can imagine!!)

About to tackle the kitchen and utility room. And move my car. And check the list DH and I did last night.

We have friends arriving at 11 to set up the rented tables and chairs. Also have some borrowed folding tables to set up for food and drinks etc. Once that is all done I will make the Coronation Chicken and Greek Salad I am doing and start setting everying out ready for 4pm start. See you all on the other side!

@WinterFrogs - I am definitely planning on just enjoying the rest and calm next week!

Home now and its catching up with last night's match and cooking another curry - chicken tikka this time.

I have been helping DDs with errands this morning. They have a bit of pressure in their lives currently so trying to help out a bit. But avoided the sweetshop. Missed my routines this morning as shot up and out of bed after posting earlier. So got home to dishes, unmade bed etc. So had shower and started the day again.

Washing on, mopped floor and plan to get groceries in after a bit of menu planning with what we have already. Have avoided work emails but going to have to look at some point. Anything urgent people usually phone me. Not having work emails on phone is a big, better late than never, win for the MH.

Better get back to it as trying to get done before Dh gets back and he finishes early on Fridays.

Coming out of lurking to say I'll join the sun dance for @Peridot1! I'm sure it will all go wonderfully.

Been running around all week, various house things, on site day yesterday, work thing in London tonight, getting house tidy for kitchen designer person coming this afternoon (hurrah!), some PTA work, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else. Luckily H's work busyness has eased off for a while so he's taken over laundry duties - I am appreciative even if sometimes I would do things differently.

Hoping to do a quick pharmacy & charity shop drop off before lunch today.

Yesterday we put pictures up in the hallway, I sorted the display units (needs. It of a rejig), washed towels, did lists, ordered a rug for the hallway, put new cushions on the new sofas and tidied the hallway.

Today I’m going to Costco with my neighbour to get stuff for bbq, tidying, and lots of random stuff I think. It will be a bit of a bitty day.
