We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

Fairly eclectic tastes really @Mumtobabyhavoc. A bit of this and a bit of that really. Your maths has scared me a bit! Crikey. I read a lot on beach holidays so obviously just need to do that for the next 15 years! Doom scrolling has got to stop too.

Glad everything was ok with your mum in the end.

I must give aqua fit a go @petalpower. I’m not great in indoor pools though. The smell of chlorine makes me panicky.

We watched the football at some friends last night. They have a pub in their garden. It was good fun but disappointing result obviously.

In other news DS has gotten a new job which he is chuffed about. He was a bit bored where he is and couldn’t see any progression route. New job is closer to home, working in the office four days a week and a lot more money.

Today’s list:

  • laundry
  • take a return to Waitrose and get a few bits
  • pick up a parcel
  • charity shop run
  • get passport photos done
  • apply for new passport
  • water garden and do some deadheading (we are not under a hose pipe ban apparently but haven’t been watering as often as we were but the plants really need a good soak.)
  • Read!

Have a great day all.

My aqua fit class started back today after the pool being closed for over 3 months for refurbishment. I am SO tired from the class and have just fallen asleep on the sofa! I think I will be very stiff and sore tomorrow.
In other news I had my mammogram results (all fine, phew) and had a dentist check up (all good too). We go on holiday in Friday for a week - UK self catering. It’s to a place we’ve been before and there are very few shops so we take most of our own food and drink. At the moment I have lots of lists of jobs to do before we go and food to buy and prepare both for the holiday and for DD and DS who are not coming with us. They are both busy and working so I like to leave easy food for them to reheat or cook.

Petal, good for you getting right back to the pool! It feels so good being in water. I should look into classes like that...
In case you get too busy to post before you leave on Friday, Have a lovely holiday. ☺️
Peridot, my math says you've got a book a day for 15 years. ☺️ What sort of books are you drawn to? I went through a phase of re-reading my textbooks. It sounds boring, but doing it out of curiosity was a lot more enjoyable than when I had to read them. 🤓🤷‍♀️

Wide awake here at 1:15am... 🤔

Condolences re the soccer today friends. 💐

I took my mum to emerg so missed the game. She had pain and swelling in her hand on the same side as the IV. Called clinic and was advised to go to emerg to rule out a clot. We didn't get out the door for a couple of hours as I had to get the kids ready, fed, cleaned up, dressed, pack snacks, get a few chores done while they ate, but once there we were in/out in just about an hour. Doctor had read my mum's records and was well apprised when he came in, immediately said not a clot on exam, listened so patiently while I recounted all the IV mishaps as I was worried I had done something harmful, but reassured it was an anomaly, was not concerned especially as it was already resolving on its own.
Ran my mum's IV without issue once home and made blueberry pancakes for late lunch/early dinner.
Have changed my mum's bed and folded/put away clean clothes.
It's warm here at 27c. 🌤️

Ooh. Sounds like deep breaths are needed @RunningKatie. I’m sure you will be fine.

Red card accepted @Mumtobabyhavoc. I’m so bad! 😳😂

RunningKatie · 14/07/2026 20:26

180! Mightily impressive work there @Peridot1
Hope your mum is doing better @FourSeasonsLobelia - so glad you're able to be there for a while to help out.

My TBR pile grew a bit after a visit to my mum, but I've got a few books stashed for my holiday plus one on order that is due to arrive the day after we leave. Excellent planning there.

Just done a supermarket dash whilst dc were at crafting session. Now I have a mug of tea and I'm watching the football with dc2.
I have been in a spectacularly bad mood this past few days, got my annual review at work tomorrow so really need to get over it before I do something dramatic and very daft.

Yes @Mumtobabyhavoc. 180. 😳

WinterFrogs · 14/07/2026 17:01

I was too pooped to notice there was a whole other page of posts.

👋 @Mumtobabyhavoc and @watchPhone

WinterFrogs · 14/07/2026 16:59

No uni books here either! Only got into audiobooks recently as a way to sleep but that moment seems to have passed. And every now and again it's useful if I'm struggling to focus.
I've had a peopley day today so i am very tired. Also stairs. Used slow cooker so dinner is ready and I am very grateful to my past self for getting it going this morning. Also routines so all nice to come home to.

Also grateful that my beloved is working late today as I need peace and quiet.

😴 😴

Flowers @FourSeasonsLobelia - hopefully mum gets sorted with ABs soon and it is just a blip.

Today

  • finally posted paperwork back to pension's person
  • a birthday present has been posted out
  • gone back and forth about a visit to a friend's new house. We are currently NOT going. It may change
  • now that we have been the tip at the weekend I keep finding other items that should have gone and have amassed some things to fall over by the front door.
  • i need to get my bunting mojo back as I have 3 weeks to make metres and metres of it
  • I sanded back all the wood filling I did - it now needs a repainting and we are all good to go

SoE

Peridot1 · 14/07/2026 11:43

What a worry @FourSeasonsLobelia. So good that you are there. Really hope she picks up quickly.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - no uni books here but I do have lots of books. And a Kindle. And I succumb to Amazon deals on Kindle books too often. I currently have 180 unread books in my Kindle. And a lot of actual books. So I joined a Read What You Own thread in a bid to reduce my unread pile. It hasn’t helped……

I don’t really do audible books @WinterFrogs. I did a few a few years ago when I was walking a lot but now I tend to listen to podcasts or music.

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - sounds like an exciting project. It will be hard to live through but well worth it I’m sure.

My motivation seems to have disappeared. I have done dishwasher and a load of laundry so far this morning. Going to go and do a bit of sorting in spare bedroom. And some dusting of sitting area this afternoon.

Have a great day all.

petalpower · 14/07/2026 09:48

What a worry for you and your family @FourSeasonsLobelia . Your poor
mum has really been through it. At least you’re on hand and not on the other side of the world.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 14/07/2026 07:08

Thanks. She’s been admitted and is on oxygen. We’ve taken in sandwiches and chocolate and fluffy blankets. She’s doing better with the oxygen. Taken my dad out to lunch and taken over all the cooking. Sigh. Just a waiting game to see how long it takes for tests to come back and antibiotics to kick in. But she won’t be home for a few days at best.

WinterFrogs · 14/07/2026 06:51

Mother taken to A&E about an hour ago. Just struggling to breathe. DCs and I are looking after various animals so they need not worry about that.

Oh, so exhausting and worrying.

Hope everyone is well. Thanks

Oh, no! I hope things are okay? 💐💕

Read what you own .... good gawd, if I went into my storage boxes it would be lots of uni texts and books. First year econ anyone? Maybe some psych or philosophy? No? Hmmm, fancy some political science? Can't get enough of Plato, Hobbes or Locke... 🙄😂

I'm giving myself an A+ for IV hook-up today. 😁

Sitting outside beside DCs activity. The sunshine is wonderful, I am sat with a huge hat and a bottle of water.
Today I've investigated under the kitchen sink and recycled 4 water bottles for filling up the iron. Wondering if that means we've broken 4 irons since we lived here. Impressive if we have!

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 13/07/2026 14:50

Hello all. Spent a long but productive time with the kitchen designer this morning and I think we are all set with our plan now! And very happy with it too. It will be a massive upheaval for a few weeks but we so dislike our current kitchen, we're really excited.

Now at a dermatology checkup. I noticed the hospital has got rid of a lot of receptionist staff in individual clinics and either moved patients to use the app to check in or go to a general desk at the entrance. Not sure this is a good thing.

WinterFrogs · 13/07/2026 07:43

Good choice for cooling down @RunningKatie! Round here it would be the bowling alley. We also have caves nearby which would do the trick.

It's actually very comfortable today as the wind has changed. I'm going to go for a walk in the woods in a bit with DD and her dog.

I dropped off the reading threads too @Peridot1! Contributing to more than one long running thread just feels like pressure. I also do not need the temptation to buy new books. Reading mojo waxes and wanes. I haven't enjoyed the audible narrator for the Book of Fire but she did get me started. She has a pleasant voice but she makes the dialogue of a ten year old girl a bit whiny. It must be quite hard to get the balance right so you know who's voice is who's.

Going to scurry round and do a bit of deep cleaning while the heat holds off. All the best to everyone 💐

Peridot1 · 12/07/2026 21:48

Well done on the successful IV@Mumtobabyhavoc!

@WinterFrogs - I’m currently reading a definite chick lit book at the moment. Have lost my reading mojo and dropped off the Read What You Own thread. Current book is Golden Girl by Elin Hilderbrand. I have some new kindle purchases though….. so much for reading what I own! 😂🙄

@RunningKatie - a cinema trip sounds ideal in this weather. Happy last week of school!

No gardening was done today as it was so windy. I did have a nap on the sofa though….

RunningKatie · 12/07/2026 19:36

What a glorious Sunday afternoon! We've just been to the cinema, for a cool down. Yesterday afternoon I went out for cocktails which meant by the time the football came on, I was ready for a good snooze!
Well done on the IV line @Mumtobabyhavoc - that is such good news.
Hope your mum isn't too tired @FourSeasonsLobelia and is really enjoying having you all there.
5 school days to go! One is sports day, one is trip day so just three days of uniform to iron and then we are done!
