Loveliest place in the U.K.?

There have been a couple of threads recently about places that you want to get out of as quickly as possible - Newport, Stevenage, etc!
It got me thinking, which towns do live up to expectations? Where is the perfect U.K.-topia?

Where do you mean by "the Staithes" op? Brancaster and Burnham Overy? Or do you mean the Burnhams in general?

It's interesting because I live in N Norfolk and have done since I was little (but moved away for my teens and twenties) and am now pretty much unmoved by most of Norfolk. I yearn to live in Scotland. I wonder if the places I think are stunning in Scotland are inhabited by people desperate to live in Norfolk.

Is the difference living in a place versus visiting a place when on holiday? Somebody mentioned Wells for example. I grew up a stone's throw from Wells and we had a beach hut there. We still go there regularly to sea swim. It's really not the place it was and has some real issues. Not sure you'd pick up on any of this as a tourist though.

The Isle of Skye is my happy place, and the drive up through Glen Coe to get there is simply stunning.

I really enjoy where we live now (near the sea ‘up north’) but I’m not sure we’ll stay here long term.

There’s loads of lovely places in the UK - I think I could quite happily live in any of the below places

Formby
York
Edinburgh
Clitheroe
Tynemouth
Whitely Bay

Keswick, it’s not the prettiest of towns, but I feel so at home there.

Parts of Dorset, I think it’s the flints.

the Isle of Man, it’s like the U.K. in miniature, rolling hills, seascapes, incredible cliffs and beaches, and high moorland and mountains.

I do love the Cotswolds but my heart lies with a tiny village on the Essex/Suffolk border called Dedham. I lived there for about 5 years when I was a child but still have so many lovely memories of it. I don't get to visit as much as I would like but did manage a weekend away with friends there last year for the Jubilee weekend. Our friends also fell in love with Dedham and Flatford Mill and we are hoping to have a weekend away again this year.

@HariKris my in-laws live there, so I'm lucky enough to visit a few times a year. Even the little town of Market Harborough, not far from there is pleasant and quaint. I love going for coffee there

Funny, I used to live just outside of Tenby and would not be a hurry to move back to Pembs. Maybe living there is very different to a holiday.

But the best place of all will remain a secret. A small valley a mile in length, with a market town on a hill, running down to the sea. Everywhere in the UK is yours, but not this place.

sounds like somewhere I know which I agree is lovely.

for me I love Cambridge for a small city.
Keswick for a town
brockenhurst for a village

Actually, pretty much everywhere. Yes there are some not-so-nice places, but the vast majority of our country is stunning. My favourite places are North Norfolk, the Wye Valley, Shropshire Hills and North Yorkshire (Dales and Moors). Also, Kent/East Sussex was amazing, I wasn't expecting it.

Where I live

loads going on, much cheaper than ilkley or Harrogate, feels like a lovely village but train lines to Leeds and Manchester and a stones throw from the gorgeous yorkshire dales.
its a world heritage site and has the biggest Hockney collection/wonderful mill/art gallery

Ooh, I’m dropping DD back to Leeds Uni soon and staying for a bit and was about to do a list of where I’d like to visit. This sounds perfect.

Anywhere with mountains! I grew up in Snowdonia and it’s beautiful, I miss living there so much!… But I have lived in the Lakes District for 10yrs now and that is so beautiful too.
