Loveliest place in the U.K.?

There have been a couple of threads recently about places that you want to get out of as quickly as possible - Newport, Stevenage, etc!
It got me thinking, which towns do live up to expectations? Where is the perfect U.K.-topia?

I've just googled Saltaire, it looks fabulous and is a Unesco site I believe. Would love to go and see it. I love the architecture of towns like these. For rural stunning scenery Northumberland ( across the moor from Alnwick to Rothbury for example ) is stunning, especially if you take a drive there on a summer's evening at the golden hour.

MN in danger of bigging some places up.
I mean Saltaire is nice in comparison to some parts of Bradford, you can definitely spend an hour or two wandering round, visit the Hockney gallery etc but one of the loveliest places in the UK, no.
And I say that as someone who grew up 20 mins away and worked in neighbouring shipley for a few years.

Newcastle is great! Lots of diversity, culture, close to stunning coastline and countryside, affordable, friendly people, great places to eat...

I'm another vote for beautiful Northumberland.

l life in a place which is often described on MN as the bit of Sussex you should avoid but actually it’s lovely. We are sandwiched between the sea and South Downs and whilst I’d like to move to Isle of Wight, this will do for now.

I like knutsford. Gorgeous restaurants, interior shops and clothes boutiques. It's small and only 2 streets. It's next to Tatton Park and Manchester airport. It's snobby and pretentious and footballery aswell but let's ignore that bit! The surrounding countryside isn't anything exciting but it's a nice little village. I wont live there though, as its burglar central.

Knutsford's a town, not a village. It's not 'near Tatton Park', Tatton Park's near Knutsford. And the surrounding countryside may not be 'anything exciting' - it's not the Lake District or Snowdonia - but rural Cheshire is simply gorgeous and only rivalled by Shropshire.

Unfortunately the town's been taken over by twats over the last 50 years. It used to be something special.

Glencoe is beautiful, no matter how many times I drive along the A82 through Glencoe it still takes my breath away.

For beaches the Moray Coast is fantastic

I think Cornwall takes some beating for sheer stunning beauty . St Ives, Port Issac, Mousehole , most of the coastline and The Lizard has a special atmosphere .Timeless.
I also love Snowdonia and many of the coastal villages and towns in Wales . Happy place probably Borth as we had a caravan there for 10 years .
Love going over the Menai Bridge to Anglesey . Beaumaris is so pretty and the view from a cottage we stayed on at Penmon point will always stay in my memory .could see to the great Orme.
I love most coastal places and I haven’t visited enough of them in the Uk . Haven’t explored Scotland yet at all. Live in a landlocked city and am desperate to move nearer the coast .
