This article is behind a paywall, which is a pity.

Just wanted to acknowledge the amazing achievements of Sara Gilbert, Teresa Lambe and Catherine Green, who brought the Astra Zeneca vaccine to the world so quickly.

They'd been working on this for some time before the pandemic hit, apparently, which is why they could do it all so quickly.

And they need properly funded!

They are heroes. Their dedication and knowledge mean a lot of people that would have lost their lives to Covid are still alive today.

I recently bought and read the book Vaxxers written (ghosted) by Sarah Gilbert and Catherine Green. I recommend it as a highly readable, nail-biting and clear account of what went on to produce the vaccine.

I have just finished reading the book "Vaxxers" by Prof. Gilbert and Dr Green - really interesting.

Sounds great. Wonder if I can handle a nail-biting pandemic-related read right now ...

And yes, Rumbly - around 26,000 lives saved, I think is the current estimate. But how many more immeasurably improved? Living under lockdown, in fear, was a pretty shadowy existence.

I remember seeing an elderly couple in the supermarket not long after the vaccinations had started. I swear they were fucking waltzing round, smiling at everyone. The feeling of relief was palpable.

It’s been serialised on R4 - well worth a listen.

And Mattel have made a series of Barbie dolls to celebrate the awesomeness of women in the fight against the pandemic, including Prof Sarah Gilbert
