Fucks sake exactly my response too.
teawamutu we must be twins - was me posted Maya Angelou on the other thread.
But seriously, this is getting to be horrific.

Oh FFS. I have single handedly kept amazon going the last few months. Still, local shops will benefit.
When will this bloody end?

WhatAWonderfulDay · 27/06/2020 11:33

Oh go on... (I thought I should display a bit more vocabulary than fuxake -which was my first thought too)

Ah shit, I love Amazon. This will actually be a hard boycott, but I will do it.

WendyHoused · 27/06/2020 11:40

Bugger, that’s going to be inconvenient.

I'd broken my 5 year boycott of Amazon over lockdown so at least I've got something to focus on to secure my conviction not to buy there.

So nice of them to give money that should be given to HMRC on charity that actively harms children. Rather weird that Mermaids have now teamed up with two of the biggest tax evaders.

Oh crap! Damn.....

Also how the fuck when there are so many brilliant charities to support do huge organisations keep throwing money & support at fucking mermaids?? A corporate partnership with the likes of amazon would usually take years to establish & a dedicated team of ppl

Mermaids is tiny with a suspiciously small board and yet.....

Shite. Amazon Prime cancellation overdue anyway.

I tend to use Amazon as a really good catalogue, then find the goods elsewhere.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 27/06/2020 11:57

God, but cancelling Prime is like navigating the Crystal Maze. Got there eventually, and there was a handy link to let them know exactly why.

LouHotel · 27/06/2020 11:58

@Kit19 this is my thinking, Mermaids branding is sparkly and fun but I expect large corporations to have the knowledge to see through that and do there due diligence.

ABananaAndAPear · 27/06/2020 11:58

Oh no.
This is going to be hard for me to boycott. Have a basket of stuff I planned to buy next week. How annoying.

Snorkers · 27/06/2020 12:33

Gutted. I spend thousands with Amazon each year. Just cancelled my longstanding prime membership and won't be buying anything else there. Hugely inconvenient, but perhaps best all round. Local shops need all our support right now.

What is wrong with these people.....

Report
TheChampagneGalop · 27/06/2020 13:34

I do wonder how they manage to team up with these large corporations like Amazon and Starbucks.

TwoTribes · 27/06/2020 13:38

I've been weaning myself off Amazon anyway due to the way they treat their staff and avoid paying their taxes. Not to mention the massive carbon footprint. Have been switching to small independent shops instead and it's been fine. This will just reinforce my views of Amazon and help me avoid them.

Fuuuuuck. I buy loads from amazon 🙁

Arsebiscuits.

It's so weird, there are so many amazing charities out there doing all sorts of wonderful things. And yet, everyone wants to go for the one that sets children on a path of surgery and untested drugs on healthy bodies? I don't get it!

Report
cassellflaw · 27/06/2020 13:58

Just cancelled now.

Have asked them if they with be taking responsibity to help the children detransition.

Report
Bluebooby · 27/06/2020 13:58

I try to limit using them anyway because I think they treat workers badly and are terrible for the environment. I do use them to send presents to friends overseas because I haven't found another option that's affordable for me, especially for sending to the US. Any ideas for alternatives?

Bluebooby · 27/06/2020 13:59

I'm trying to think of another grassroots charity that's got so much support from big business... Can't think of one. Odd that.

I started a chat to give feedback. Halfway through my message it cut out and I was asked if I'd like a call Hmm

Would that be the same Amazon that was forced to remove this 'Daddy's little s*' t shirt for kids from sale last November only after a social media backlash?

TBF, these type of ads are bot-generated and churned out by the hundreds - that's how stuff printed with photos of Auschwitz got put on Amazon last year. The sheer quantity, and the speed at which they're posted, is such that it's hard to catch them.
