If the TRAs can use the murder of South American trans sex workers to bolster their "more at risk" statistics then it's legitimate for us to use all femicide stats.

This reported today is horrific - I despair sometimes about the Male off the species I really do 😡

Yes Diane

I read a report from Brazil which was horrifying. Will go look it up

littlbrowndog · 06/03/2020 09:07

In Brazil, four girls under 13 are raped every hour and every two minutes police receive a report of violence against women.

Those are just two of the findings from a new study released Tuesday by non-governmental organization Brazilian Forum of Public Security, which found that violence against women and girls is worsening in the country.
Brazil which is home to over 200 million people is already among the most dangerous places on earth to be female.

The report found that femicides when a woman is murdered for being a woman increased by 4% last year on the previous year, even as the national homicide rate fell 10.8%. In 88% of those cases, the perpetrator was the woman's partner or former partner.
Over 263,000 women suffered serious injuries at the hands of their partner, according to the study, which was based on governmental data.

Not looked into who The Atlantic Council are but this piece looks at Mexico before doing a global comparison.

Interesting comments on data collection.

The #WarOnWomen continues unabated.

Femicide in Afghanistan rose 49% in 2015, at least 241 women were killed. Nearly half were victims of honor killings who were tortured, burned and mutilated before being brutally murdered

UN GLOBAL STUDY ON HOMICIDE - Gender-related killing of women and girls

thanks for the additional links, that UN document makes for depressing reading - but a valuable source of data.

Interesting that they talk about the need to collects accurate data in the conclusion section

Standardized data on gender-related killings of women and girls remain patchy and of insufficient quality to enable the monitoring of trends and understanding the scale of the problem. Implementation of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) enables countries to develop a standardized and sustainable way of recording the gender-based dimension of all offences and facilitates the measurement of violence against women and girls. Among its many features, the ICCS classification defines a standard framework for recording the gender characteristics of victims and perpetrators in
relation to all crimes, including homicide. It can therefore add value to collected data, allowing for a more thorough, in-depth analysis, as well as a comparable system of data collection across countries for gender- related killings of women and girls

All highly depressing.

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2020 08:15

Yeah Diane if we don’t know the sex of the people killing women then how can we use any data collected

In some countries already the criminal can decide what sex they are and under what sex their crime will be recorded as

It happens in Scotland already
