Is anybody else looking forward to playing Breath of the Wild on Friday? I haven't looked on youtube as I don't want to spoil it by watching someone else playing it first.
I have warmed up by playing A Link Between Worlds but finished that earlier than expected.

Ds1 and dh can't wait. I'm assuming I'm going to have to force them to school/work instead of waiting for it to be delivered.
Ds1 has been watching YouTube clips and says it looks amazing :)

Luckily I will have school hours to myself but am not sure if it will come early enough. I've had stuff from the nintendo store delivered the a day early but ordered this one from amazon as it was cheaper.

Ive got £30 in vouchers but need to see if i can justify another £20 towards it! I've been looking forward to it for about 2 years so might have to bite the bullet.

I can't wait! I love the Zelda games. My birthday is next month so I'm hoping someone will get it for me. Has anyone got the new Nintendo switch, or are you playing it on the wii u?

We're still on GameCube here. DH is a habitual spender, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the new Nintendo appear just for the new Zelda. (Secretly approving too!)

Although I have and love my Wii U I am getting a switch. I usually play off screen so will probably just use the switch as a tablet. Plus I will need to keep the Wii U out to play our old games.
I am hoping the bosses aren't too bad in this game as I am rubbish at beating them.

I have a wii u and won't be buying a switch. I hope the wii u version doesn't turn out to be rubbish!

I'm getting a switch for my birthday, hopefully. I haven't played Zelda since the Ocarina of Time on the N64. It looks so different I'm actually a bit worried I won't understand gaming any more!

I can't wait! Should have my switch and Zelda both delivered on Friday assuming Amazon doesn't muck up the delivery like they have done previous launch days Been playing older Zelda games in prep, even though this one looks very different. Really hoping the Switch does well, I'd hate to see Nintendo stop making consoles, but why on earth did they not have a Mario launch game? Madness!

Nintendo don't seem to know what they're doing... like you say why no mario game?

In my uneducated opinion the wii u didn't do very well because they didn't appear to know who they were aiming it at. If they'd made more party style games and captilized on some of the concepts in games like nintendoland where they really made the most of the handheld element then they would have taken advantage of a little gap in the market. Or games like mariomaker where the handheld was actually good for something. Its a good console for children to play on together which doesnt really exist with the ps4 or xbox where most of the games are aimed at adults.

The advertising ive seen for the switch seems to again be aimed at adults playing together but adults aren't going to meet up with their switch handhelds and play games together. They play online from their ps4/xbox! if you replace the adults in the advert with children it makes a lot more sense!

We've spent some of this morning looking at Zelda reviews and so far, they are phenomenal. Almost everyone saying it's arguably the best Zelda, if not Nintendo game ever. Desperately trying not to get my hopes too high, but can't wait! Dh is so impressed with the reviews, he's considering buying a second copy for the WiiU so we can both play at the same time...will wait and see...

Yeah, Nintendo need to decide who their consumers are. I love their party type games, Zelda, Mario and Animal Crossing games, I even know a few people thinking of buying the Switch so they can play Skyrim on the go, but their launch line up is pretty dreadful. I really hope that the console is successful so they continue to make the Nintendo exclusive titles, but I'm a bit concerned about their future if the Switch fails.

I looked at one review but stopped after the first paragraph as I thought there were spoilers. I have been looking at the scores tho and I am wondering if I'll be too excited to sleep properly.
Just got my Switch dispatch notification from Nintendo, hope Amazon doesn't let me down so I get the actual BOTW game.

I hope the Switch is successful as I can't imagine gaming within Nintendo as they are the best at being innovative.
I don't think that the PS4 and XB1 had a great line up of games at launch either.

Breath of the Wild is waiting for me at home and my Switch is being delivered tomorrow. However, it's ostensibly DS's birthday present which isn't for another week!!!

I am going to have to exercise extreme self-control ...

I got my dispatch notification too! So excited! JigglyTuff, I believe that the responsible thing, for any caring parent, is to ensure that their present actually works. You really should test it out just in case there is some kind of problem. That was my dad's excuse when he bought games for me, and I may well use that excuse when ds is a bit older and wants games for presents! I've also been avoiding reading the actual reviews, but looking at scores and their headlines. Dh has been reading though. He is a Zelda fan, but not quite as much as I am.

It wasn't our usual postie today so got it 2 hours later then expected.
What struck me was 10 minutes after the postman rung my doorbell Link was opening his eyes on a brand new console. No need to spend hours downloading the actual game or updates. This is one reason that there is no need for massive storage on it.

Gald to hear that users agree with the critics Ashvis!

Anyone else played yet? I got in about 5 hours yesterday and completely loving it. The non durable weapons is a slight nuisance, but sort of reminds me of having to take repair hammers everywhere in Witcher 3 and Oblivion, and haven't run out of weapons yet so I guess that's ok! And fits in with the survival theme. The frame rate issue on the Switch isn't ideal, but not terrible, and not an issue on the game pad. Glad I bought a pro controller though, as I find it more comfortable. Not too sure how many times I've seen the game over screen, but it's been lots! I do tend to run into situations sword/axe flailing though.

I got about 30 mins past the plateau last night but decided to restart this morning. I felt I had wasted too much stuff the first time round while getting used to the controls. Eg I wasted all my bomb arrows in the process of getting the fire arrows. Or vice versa. Also either I missed the cooking lesson or there isn't one.
I do love the opening sequence, when Link runs out of the shrine and looks across the world to Hyrule Castle.

I only use the Switch as a handheld as we have one tv which already has HDMI splitters on it. I have read you have to be careful not to scratch the screen when docking/undocking.

I picked up Nintendo Switch with Zelda yesterday for DS 5, unfortunately he doesn't know how to play it Sad and has lost interest in the console all together. I've checked at the game it self has some brilliant reviews, I think I'll have a go tonight.

I'm struggling to get into it due to lack of tutorial and it takes ages to go anywhere. Im still on the plateau though and struggling to get off it!

cooking instructions
Don't read if you want to figure out for yourself

There is no cooking lesson at all! In your inventory screen, choose to hold food with the x button, pick a couple ingredients with the a button, then throw them into a cooking pot. If you're next to a pot with a lit fire, and you're holding items there will be a prompt to press the a button to cook. There is one at the old man's camp on the plateau, and a few dotted about various places. I'm at a village where there's a cooking pot to use. I quite like cooking now I've finally discovered how to do it!

I worked it out eventually when I needed to go to the cold bit. I'm playing this with a notebook just to keep track, but I do that with most Zeldas.
