So three weeks in with a trainer and I now have a dead lift RM max of 85kg. Let's see if I can beat that before Christmas.

I am 70kg BTW

What is RM?

Report
NootNoot · 07/12/2017 12:48

Rep Max. Maximum you can lift with proper form for a single rep.

If a highly technical exercise like a powerclean will sometimes go for a 3 Rep Max & work it out that way.

I haven't tested my bench or deadlift for a while. I'm really hoping to get a body weight squat this year.

Socksey seriously impressed with the 150kg did you compete??

5'2 43 years old and 60kg

Deadlift 100kg (hate them, so never doing that again)
Squat 95kg (love them) failed the 100kg twice got stuck at the bottom :-Overhead squat 50kg
Snatch 40kg

Oh and dropping under the bar and lifting over head from bottom of a squat got a 70kg above my head, but no idea what that move is called!

Wow all your bests are amazing. I’m feeling very amateur.

I weight 75kg (down from 81 in January) and am 166cm.

I started with a brilliant PT in January who’s introducing me to strength work at a gym that has a great mix of strength and cardio (I’m still a bit of an aerobics bunny from the 80s).

My max DL so far is 75kg. I freaked out at 85kg.

But I’m doing well at the Sled (beast of a training regime). Today I pulled 300kg and pushed 230kg over a 10m track - the difference was that the trainer was not sitting in top of the weights on the sled when I was pushing.

Just bumping this, as today I achieved a PB in the deadlift: only 80kg but still ...

I'm almost 60, and weigh 74kg (I weighed 81kg when I started this strength training malarkey). My PT didn't tell me the total as he added the weights. I started with 10 reps at 40kg, and slowly worked up to 1 rep at 80kg. Just as well he didn't tell me or I would have freaked myself out.

Also had fun with overhead sandbag throws today - it's a fun exercise & particularly satisfying when the sandbag hits the floor with a loud thud.

I don’t really fit in here but I’m so pleased with myself I want to tell someone who’ll care!

This time last year I couldn’t do a single push up. Now I can leg press 120kg.

I know it’s nothing compared to ppl here but I’m seriously chuffed with myself.

I've reached a couple of PBs in the last couple of weeks, after 10 months of once a week with a PT, and Pump classes & running in between (plus Pilates & yoga & dance classes).

I can now deadlift 85kg
Squat 50kg

And last week, in my deadlift session, I did a series of warm up sets at 40 & 50kg, then 3 sets of 5 reps at 70kg.

My trainer pointed out that a couple of months ago, 70k was my PB at 1 rep. Now I can do 3 sets of 5 reps.

It's kind of magic, really!

(I'm 59, weight 70kg & am 166cm tall).

A friend sent me a clip of Dr Catherine Walters, who deadlifts 105kg at age 70 or so. Wow!

I want to be her.

Over your bodyweight, Rollerbird! Always a milestone. Well done.

Wow, that's great, Rollerbird I started at 40kg and found the stepup past 60kg the trickiest. It took me about 6 months to get a bodyweight deadlift.

I celebrated a significant birthday (makes me officially senior) by deadlifting 70kg 5 reps. The 5th one felt a bit hard & I used my back too much, so strained it, and my trainer forbade me doing any further lifting that day - v annoying as I love deadlifts. Now working on (back) squatting more than 50kg. Front squats today at 40kg.

Well done shineon
(Is senior 60 nowadays?) We've got back squats high reps in the morning. No idea on what my weight will be yet!
