That's lovely news, they always come across as a nice family.

So pleased for them. She had two miscarriages, one a late one , so to have a quick if unexpected home birth is a great result.

And so lovely that he has been named in honour of his great grandfather.

Congrats to them anyway, they seem like a very solid little unit.

It's really weird but in the reporting of Zara's new baby, her mother Princess Anne mostly gets no mention, it's all focused on what the Queen thinks.

It sounds like they didn't plan a home birth but more of a birth centre type thing. Mike has said the midwife was going to meet them at the hospital but came to the house instead. It does sound like everything went very smoothly. I'm sure they're thrilled with a boy, I think it's very clear he adores his girls but he was hoping to have a son as well not instead.

So pleased for them , they have had a pretty tough time . Great name

But some odd comments on here.

In my book, giving birth on the floor at home and then being up and outside with the baby the same afternoon is pretty impressive and indicative of her physical toughness. All the same, no need for tales of women in paddy fields / how you brought the harvest in the same afternoon.

She had a midwife. Nearly two midwives.

There's no need to "paddy field/harvest" stories as lots of women give birth at home with a midwife in the U.K. every year. It has nothing to do with "physical toughness".

I mean, it's a lovely story but that's all.

Nice to hear of a famous couple just naming their dc out loud. Not wait a week and a huge announcement /cloak and dagger secret..
Lovely name and a nice nod to their families with Philip.. And you never know she may even be a mner!?
