My boy did very well on James Wellbeloved. It's probably mid way between your price limits but Pets at Home often have offers and you can get some good deals for big sacks on Amazon.

Burns dog food is approximately £27 for 7kg and is at the cheeper end of the better foods.

You could feed chappie complete but id not recommend it for a growing pup.

Avoid pedigree chum and bakers - doggie mc donalds!

Most decent dog food will be fairly pricy but if you shop around you'll get it on offer somewhere or other. We feed Wainwrights as it's grain/additive free. We have a puppy and two cats (obviously the cats get the cat version!) and they all do really well on it.

It's pretty much always on offer either in Pets at Home or online at Zooplus. We buy whenever it's on offer and it probably costs us £40 a month for all three animals for kibble. We then buy the occasional box of wet (they get it once a week or so) and treats/chews on top of that too.

You could look at allaboutdogfood.co.uk to compare costs and quality.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 07/08/2018 10:48

I would second www.AllAboutDogFood.co.uk

The thing with dog food is that higher quality stuff tends to be more nutritionally dense, so you have to feed less of it. This is why the website works out cost per day for each dog based on weight; a food that is cheaper per kg can end up costing a similar amount to a better quality food.

Doggo1 · 07/08/2018 10:53

Ah that makes sense.

I will have a look. thankyou

James well beloved, burns and pets at home Ava are probably the best in the budget ranges but will be a little more than £20 per 10kg - I think only doggy junk food (with all sorts of bad additives) like bakers is that cheap and not only are they not great for growing pups but can cause negative behaviours like hyperactivity.

SlothMama · 07/08/2018 13:46

www.AllAboutDogFood.co.uk is a great site to use

olivetor7 · 07/08/2018 14:29

You need to work the cost out per day. I feed a 70% meat kibble and but compared to other foods he is only feed a small amount. So it works out to be far cheaper than a poorer quality food because one bag can last twice as long. Most of the poorer foods have a load of crap included to bulk it out.
