Clique - iplayer only BBC3 thriller

Is anyone watching Clique?

I found it by accident looking through iplayer. It has a slight Skins feel (younger characters, drugs, the music and style) but also has aspects of a thriller like The Replacement. I've just finished the latter and am still catching up on that thread! But am interested to hear thoughts and theories on this series. I couldn't find a thread and thought posting might persuade some of you to try it out if you hadn't heard of it!

im watching. It's very watchable, but not sure how believable it is. If it is, student life at Edinburgh Uni has changed a bit since I was there!

Also, i dont understand how many of them are working or fighting over internshios while they are still in first second yer etc - is that a thing now?

just to add: it's new - think there's an episode released every Sunday and there are currently 2 available out of 6.

Also watching it and funny you should say about Skins as I thought the same, although seems entirely removed from reality ha! Very intrigued about what's going on. I honestly wondered if the girls were being escorted out to the wealthy men or something, or is that way too obvious?

I watched part of episode one and all I could think was that the actress playing Holly bore a strong resemblance to the student photos of the woman who would become Katherine Cambridge, and wondered whether it was deliberate casting...

hi Gavel! I agree not that believable. Not sure about the internships. I haven't come across it and assumed that was a plot device, though perhaps in Business-type degrees it might exist? They don't seem to be doing much normal work!

Gripping though and makes you want to know more.

It felt a bit odd being thrown in suddenly with all these unfamiliar characters, but I suppose that is what starting at uni is like. It didn't seem like Georgia and Holly were close friends/had history until further into the episodes (with the childhood flashbacks). Also they looked so young I found it hard to believe the intern girls and power couple thought they'd be strong candidates or would let them near business contacts at the party! These are little niggles though, I liked it mostly :)

i would be disappointed if it were an escort thing. I also think Holly looks like victoria beckham!

Anyway it's quite enjoyable was going mad wondering where I'd seen the blonde girl then realised she was in peter pan Grin

shame bbc 3 is tucked away some good things are on it. like fleabag.

I guess it's not aimed at 48 year old women.

I liked the performance of that woman who played Molly in Sherlock, but not her 'structural sexism is your fault' schtik. But perhaps that's the point. It feels a bit sub Secret History, but I'd need to be slightly more convinced about why Holly and her classmates saw the intern clique as so fascinating. I suspect that when I was a first year undergraduate, I'd have thought interns were business nerds with clipboards. But if their regular fare of dressing up in bin bags, maybe it's a change!

I'm just watching the first one now. I hope Elizabeth's character is developed.

I like Holly. Can't say much else without spoilers.

I watched the first episode, thinking it would be my thing. It wasn't.

The characters were all unrealistically good looking and grunge-free for my taste. Mind you, it's a while since I've been a student. Grin.

I won't be watching any more. Much too silly.

It's a bit weird but strangely watchable.

I don't remember everyone being that gorgeous when I was at uni. Grin

And could someone please explain how an attempted suicide is able to jump from a hospital window? Hardly credible.

I'm really enjoying it and looked for a thread the other day. It reminds me of gossip girl and the writer was aiming for the high gloss effect apparently. She also wrote for Skins and was inspired by Secret History!

It reminds me of being young and nubile... not that I appreciated it at the time!

Ive just watched this and am also struck by the kate middleton lookalike.

Good so far. Definitely picked up The Secret History vibe.

Based on this thread I watched the 1st episode. Agree with the Kate/VB similarities! Slightly disturbed by seeing lovely Molly playing a harsh/mean character.

I think it has been made in an American style, with lots of beautiful rich people. Rather than being based on reality.

I'll give the second espiode a go.

I'm watching this too and enjoying it. Also thinking along the escort lines.

Liz70 I think it will turn out that Fay? was thrown from the window Sad

I was thinking of making a thread for this but thought only teens would be attracted to watching it! Some parts feel a little amateur but I definitely want to know what is going on, like why Georgia was upset the same night Faye cut herself. Is it just me or does the chaffeur seem to be sympathetic to the girls.

bionicant O.M.G So that's how we know her!! I was trying to work that out too; she has a familiar look. I feel a bit sorry that she's ended up on bbc3 Blush

I started watching this after the replacement, I liked it and also thought of the escort link after seeing the last episode (and the way the girl in the bath said to holly that she was perfect - she has that young naive look)

Spoilsport! Angry

I meant that any hospital I've been had windows that would only open about five cm max. So it would have to have been forced, or the glass smashed. Confused

This is my type of show. Looking for ward to watching episode three.

My gut feeling is, it's not attempted suicide. I also, doubt she jumped from the window. I think this is where the story is going to explain what happened.

Yup! Escort line too. I will be surprised if it turned out to be something complete different.

The Chauffeur is sympathetic. Which makes me think it's something sinister. Whatever it is, it's not good.

SPOILER don't read if you haven't watched episode 3!!

At the end where James is found dead. I'm sure it will be ruled as 'suicide' and that would be reasonable too seeing as Fay died, but I wonder if someone killed him because he told Holly too much. Jude's brother the boss man maybe?

I really struggled to make it through the first episode but then I didn't like skins either despite being the age of the characters when it came out.

Just watched episode 3. Finding it all a bit silly now. One minute she's a feckless student dossing around not handing in essays in the first term.of first year. Next she's top intern on the most important client. Doing what exactly? What's are they qualified to do? Don't internships come later on? Finding hard to suspend disbelief.

I am watching it because I like uni dramas, but it is so unrealistic. The business studies prof, no way, so unreal. I am disturbed by how much I keep thinking Holly looks like Vic Beckham...and just generally find it silly, yet I will stick with it. I don't watch any TV anymore, so maybe have literally lost the plot on what seems real, interesting, compelling etc.
