At last. Don't think I can watch the first two again but I'm in for next week.

I'm up for next week as well, but think I'll give the first 2 a miss.

You honestly couldn't make this shit up. Man, that was FUBAR.

I watched it because all my Scottish friends were talking about it on fb.

Do you reckon they put up posters looking for the biggest wasters around. It's a shame - not all folk in Kilmarnock are like that but that's the way the programme portrays - as if all that shit is normal!

There has been a bit of a backlash for the way it has portrayed the area - next week's shows it in a slightly more redeeming light. I've worked in projects in a couple of other schemes, and people like last night are not typical, but nor are they unusual.

I felt sorry for Kay's youngest child Sad

is it on down South?

Report

Kay should have had both those kids taken off her.

Her 15-year-old daughter in bed with a 20-year-old drug dealer.

Her home a doss house for criminals and alcoholics. That Lisa chick, I have to live over someone like that just now until the council moves her on (it's a homeless flat). I have zero sympathy for this bitch or others like her - she makes our life hell.

I've lived in two schemes and yes, not everyone is like that, but it's not unusual.

Highlander, I hope not! It shows Scotland in a very unflattering light. The Scotland-hating xenophobes on the election threads would have a field day (and it would probably need subtitled too!)

I can't bear (bare?? Confused) to watch it.

Report
expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 17:56

Oh, it would definitely need subtitled in the south Wink.

I have change my name to post this, beause I am a regular here on mn and totally ashamed of living here!

I live in Kilmarnock and hardly anyone here is like the people featured on "The Scheme"

I've grew up and lived on council estates all my life. Every town has junkies and schemies, but Killie has been made a total laughing stock because of this show
The producers have obviously found the worst of the worst of our town otherwise there would be no show I suppose.

Anyway, we are not all like that - since it was first shown a few months ago whenever people ask me where I am from and
I tell them Kilmarnock they snigger and say Oh yes, "Scheme Town"

There are even people who travel here from other towns to have their picture taken with the "stars" and at all the locations featured

These people should have never been on tv imo, they are vunerable, need help and not there for entertainment.

I actually know Dayna and she is a real sweetheart btw. Nothing like what she is portrayed as, v clever and underhand editing if you ask me.

I don't know anyone who's been in prison or who uses smack myself, but I don't see where it's necessarily painting the whole country in a bad light. I mean, it's like saying all people in Manchester are like those on Shameless.

You'd have to be a real numpty to assume all people in Kilmarnock are like those on this show.

I thought a lot of those folks needed locked up, personally.

I feel sorry for their neighbours.

Kay should have her youngest DD taken off her, she really can't be arsed with looking after her.

Bullet is the star of the show. He has more brains than the rest of them put together.

'I feel sorry for their neighbours.'

That was my first thought as well. We have to live over the equivalent of Lisa, the loser who was staying with that waster Kay and who got evicted for partying and arguments. Luckily, she's not a tenant, so can easily be moved on, because I honestly don't give a rat's arse what her problem is, she can't be in there without loud, thumping bass dance 'music' and her thug mates make us feel vulnerable and threatened.

Most people on housing schemes aren't like these people, but often enough have to live next to someone like this, and it can make one's life hell.

Report
TheCrackFox · 17/05/2011 19:08

Lisa should also have her son taken off her.

Report
expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:12

You're not alone, TheCrackFox.

My guess is she may have been like this downstairs neighbour - who's 4 months pregnant necking Buckie and smoking hash - in a homeless flat but who insists on partying and arguing. So they get bounced and then voila, the council no longer has a legal obligation to house them. They'll take the wee one into care, though. Hence, she was in Kay's doss house, blasting music, not even arsed to put a sheet on the bed her son sleeps in but smoking like a chimney.

FFS.

There are loads of people like that in the schemes in Edinburgh, see them every day on the bus

Report
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:16

And I am not saying everyone there is like that, of course, but IME these people aren't rarities.

Kay likes to take in the waifs and strays because it makes her look good but also detracts from the fact she is badly neglecting her own children. She is deeply unlikeable.

Report

Oh, yes, Fanjo. I used to live in Muirhouse. Never a dull moment in there.

Pilton, Royston, some parts of Granton, and that's just in the North.

Then you get places like Niddrie, Magdalene, Broomie, Wester Hailes, etc.

In fact every time I get on a particular bus I am entertained by conversations about people's drug deals, court appearances, domestics and shoplifting
