why do jeans have to be so flipping low rise?

I'm only 11 weeks post cs and every pair I've tried seem to end up sitting on my scar and they're killing me. For anyone who hasn't had a cs, lets just say it's pretty low, you'd have to be pretty brazen to wear a bikini that would show your scar for example. So why on earth do jeans have to sit so low? I don't want ones that are under my armpits, but neither do I want ones that graze my bikini line.

Any thoughts? I'm still desperately trying to lose weight so I need a size 18 and cheap because I do not intend staying that size for long!!!!

I don't know the answer but I will watch with interest - I hate lowrise jeans because they give me the most unflatteting muffin top, and when I sit down my tops ride up at the back leaving a really attractive fleshy flab gap. Would love to find nice jeans that don't do this.

duckyfuzz · 17/03/2010 21:56

gap curvy is the answer

TimothyTigerTuppennyTail · 17/03/2010 21:57

Littlewoods.

I've got the muffin top issue too, but that plays second fiddle to the cs scar irritation right now... I'm just wearing lots of loose tops to hide the saddlebags!

Saves on the costings when manufacturing. Shorter rises mean more panels can be cut from the fabrics.

chopstheduck · 18/03/2010 06:33

go to new look, all different types and cheap enough. I have two pairs from there, and they def come well above my cs scar.

Not really sure where you are finding jeans that low rising!

Are you very tall? I'm 5 11 and the only place I cna buy jeans that really are properly waist high (as in 1" below belly button) is long tall sally, but they are too exp for temporary jeans.

Enchilada81 · 18/03/2010 07:23

I hate low-rise jeans. Can't be doing with my flabby podge hanging out, complete with whiter than white skin and stretch marks!

I find Next and Asda quite good for jeans.

I'm also tall (5ft 10in)

diddl · 18/03/2010 08:24

So far the only skinny jeans that I like are low rise-but they don´t like me!
The legs fit well& are slimming-it´s the overhang that´s the problem!

Well, I guess they won´t be in fashion much longer, so I might as well just let it pass me by!

Ceebee74 · 18/03/2010 08:27

New Look Hula jeans are a godsend!! I bought a pair when I was about 10 weeks post-cs and they fit round your waist and hold your tummy in - they are not the 'trendiest' jeans in the world but they are bootcut, look ok and only cost £12 (iirc) I lived in mine for months!!!

Birdistheword · 18/03/2010 08:31

Try Red Herring in Debenhams, they are cheap and are higher than low-rise without being too high if you see what i mean.

here

I love then because they totally get rid of my post-baby muffin top.

Birdistheword · 18/03/2010 08:32

Oh, my link doesn't work, there is a red herring section on the website though.

bellissima · 18/03/2010 09:08

Hmm - agree, plus I find that, as jeans don't go 'in' for the waist they end up just sliding down your bum anyway as the fabric stretches. Bought some new Sevens recently and they claimed to have low, middle and high rise - frankly I couldn't see much difference - 'high rise' about half a centimetre higher.

florenceuk · 18/03/2010 14:42

Boden are pretty high rise and I'm sure they go up to an 18. I always find Gap jeans too low and/or they stretch too much. However, their trousers are higher cut (I have a pair of their "modern flare") and may be more comfortable for you as they are of softish cotton. There were loads in the sale this week.

Chandon · 18/03/2010 14:51

Gap Curvy

or

Gap long and Lean

I wear both. They fit well.

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 18/03/2010 14:55

I have gap curvy and am 5'7 and a size 18 and they are too low for me and the crotch sits too low also. I am constantly pulling them up. I want the sexy boot ones from gap but according to gap the only sizes they have anywhere are sizes 4 and 6. They sell out of their one size 18 and 2 size 16's in minutes.

thedollshouse · 18/03/2010 14:57

I hated low rise jeans even when I was slim, you are forever pulling them up and they played havoc with my finger nails.

aquavit · 18/03/2010 15:15

Gap (curvy or long and lean) are too low on me.

I have recently discovered the brilliance of M&S indigo collection jeans - love the bootcut and the slim leg - they are pretty cheap (about £20), they come in a massive range of sizes and lengths, they are high enough on the waist, and they don't have stretch so no bagging at the knee.

bobs · 18/03/2010 15:30

I have been wearing M&S Per Una Roma jeans - high waist boot cut. About £25 without belt. Very comfy. However I've got skinny legs and hips with flabby belly so will defo look at the Red Herring skinny jeans.
I usually end up with a pair that once they're comfy on the waist, I can pull straight down my legs without undoing them -you should see me when I run
NYDJ - not your daughter's jeans are good - really expensive jeans from America - I bought a pair on Ebay for about £20, normally about £80. However I sold them on as too stretchy, but would be good post baby/CS - make sure you get at least one size smaller as big fit
