December 2020 Glossy Box disappointment

I signed up for the dec 2020 glossy, advertised as over £135 worth of goodies...

Hugely underwhelmed by a nail varnish, beauty sponge, eye mask, ponds cream and... the big hitter 15ml of Symbiosis AHA + RNA overnight rejuvenating eye serum. This allegedly retails for £102 (currently on sale at around £76)

What a disappointment

I just googled it. Was it really only 11 quid? Sounds a bit meh but probably well worth it if so!

Even better, was £8.50!

Would i have paid that for what was in the box? Maybe, was it worth £8.50? Probably was it worth £135 nowhere flipping near

Was the eye serum by Avant? That seems to be a ridiculously overpriced brand that only seems to exist to inflate the price of beauty boxes/ advent calendars.

Symbiosis

Also the cream is not ponds - its palmers and £2.63 for 100g, and I got a 30g pot!

The nail varnish has a sticky label, thats not even central (i expect some attn to detail on a 'luxury product')

I'm glad i didnt spend much, but surely this isnt legal

I used to have a beauty box subscription but cancelled it as would find I’d only use about 25% of the products in each box, so it wasn’t good value. The other products can be good for stocking fillers at Xmas. But some of it is just rubbish. I’ve learned my lesson - now I just buy what I want and don’t get lured in by the ‘discounts’ which are often calculated on every single product being at the highest sales price (when in reality many are discounted anyway, as you’ve pointed out)

What isn't legal? You spent £8.50 and got at least £24 worth of stuff. Those boxes are always a gamble but it doesn't sound like you're out of pocket, just that you expected for for your eight quid

MaliceOrgan · 09/12/2020 10:25

*more for your eight quid

what i mean, from the hype they create, how they can say this box is worth £135, and in reality you can get it for a lot less

I'm not really bothered about what I spent, i knew it would be a bit underwhelming - but there is no way its worth £135

Sounds like utter shite for people desperate to part ways with their cash!

Itshissister · 12/12/2020 21:21

I had dry shampoo instead of the sponge.

I did expect more because it was a Christmas /December box and was also underwhelmed.

Just tried the eye cream. Hopefully I will look 21 tomorrow.
