Changing rooms and quarantining clothes any shop workers ?

Does anyone know if clothes are still being quarantined after trying on ? I tried a dress on yesterday and wish I'd bought but it was the only one in my size and may be still in quarantine? :( as I want to go back and buy asap.

Depends on the shop. At the store my son works at they do not quarantine the clothes they steam them, and last week I tried on something at a local independent store and the saleswoman just returned it to the rail afterwards.

Oh that's useful thanks.

I haven't seen any shops that have their changing rooms open. I didn't realise some did.

In my store the changing rooms are closed. Any clothing or footwear that is tried on has to be quarantined for 72 hours before it can go back on display.

SoLongFurlough · 30/08/2020 09:27

Yes it will probably be quarantined but if you go back and explain I’m sure they will give you the item if they still have it

nitgel · 30/08/2020 09:49

Yes I wondered if I could ask that so long.

If all their quarantine stock for that day is kept in one box or bag then I doubt they’ll let you get anything out as there’s a potential cross contamination as it’s all been touching.
Some of the rules we’ve had to follow are very strict, even if the average customer thinks it’s silly.

Another instance of the rules not always being adhered to. Although I find the whole concept of changing rooms not being open when public loos are (surely give customers the choice - go in at your own risk, but still quarantine clothes not purchased). But re shoes. You can go into Primark and try on shoes to your hearts content and just pop them back. No quarantining there. Go into a shoe shop and it’s quarantining all the way!! 😜

Which shop was it? Some adhere to stricter rules than others!
Have you looked to see if you can order it online?

gubbbbbddaaaa · 30/08/2020 13:16

Just go back and ask them .. they will no doubt let you have it or tell you when you can collect it after keeping it on hold .

It's bonkers, although apparently Fat Face staff told me quarantine has been reduced to 48 hrs due to lack of scientific evidence. Bravissimo has changing rooms open, and they quarantine anything tried on for 72 hrs. They also have odd rules. So every changing room is fully enclosed, but they have only open every other one. Why? Because they don't have time to clean them, nothing to do with SD. Also, how on earth will a changing room get contaminated, when toilets aren't being cleaned in-between every user? There are so many disconnected rules and the interpretation of each.

Baaaahhhhh · 30/08/2020 13:24

Bravissimo have also taken out their chairs, so you can't sit down..... however fine to sit down in a cafe, restaurant, bar. Are all the chairs being cleaned after each user, you bet they aren't.

MimosaFields · 30/08/2020 21:50

Changing rooms are closed but you can buy something, go to a public toilet to try it on and bring it back 10 minutes later. So in reality, the only advantage is that the shops don't need to clean the changing rooms.

As for your dress, I think it will depend on the size of the shop. In larger department stores, clothes are probably taken to a different area to be steamed

SavoyCabbage · 30/08/2020 22:05

I bought a bra online from M&S then took it back to the shop because it didn't fit. I went upstairs to get a different size and the lady I'd returned it to came up and put the one I'd returned back.
