Beauty gift ideas please

I have a colleague who shares my love of beauty products and her birthday is coming up at the end of next month.

I want to order a gift for her so I will probably need to do it in the next couple of weeks to ensure it reaches her.

I’m not sure what to get! I’ve previously got her make up and brushes from decent brands.

I’d be grateful for ideas.

She’s into lip products but it’s tough to choose colours.

I’m tempted by the new Too Faced neutral palette but she doesn’t wear eye shadow as much.

I’m tempted to get something from Milk as it has good reviews and she might not have tried it.

Maybe Anastasia BH Brie products.

An hourglass powder.

She is going to be 23, medium-tan / asian skin and dark hair.

It doesn’t have to be a make up or skincare gift but not sure what else to buy.

Budget is about £40

And on a separate but related note are flowers a strange thing to send to an 18 year old for her birthday, with a card? I never had flowers at that age but think it might be nice as it a bit of something.

Brow not Brie Confused

If I really can’t choose some thing then I’d send her a voucher but that is not as good as getting a nice in the post (IMHO)

My DD is 18 soon and I'm looking for ideas too .
I don't think my DD would want flowers but she does like cacti . You might not want to sent a cactus unless you know they really like them though Grin

Make-Up wise I'm looking at the Espa Pomelo lip balm and the lip oil for my DD .
Traditionally I give her a box ( TKMaxx one she'll use for storage) with 'little random gifts' to match the number of years - so 18 this time )

I said to her it's all going to be online this time so I'm searching Grin

Have you got any nice local businesses you could support? Maybe a local florist, and/or a local food/wine/gift shop?

A beauty box. Lovely gift, great value, so nicely wrapped/presented. My favourites are Glossybox, Birchbox and Lookfantastic.

A diptyque candle.

Sali Hughes has written a couple of wonderful Beaty books.

A fancy face mask.

A facial roller.

Balance Me has lovely, gentle products.

I love ESPA.

The 18 year old is a family member who doesn’t live nearby. I was going to order her a card from Moonpig and they had some nice rainbow flowers. Tbh I don’t always buy her a gift but just thought it might be something nice right now.

Im probably being a bit lazy in that I wasn’t really going to go to different places for gifts. I was ordering the card. Thought the flowers were nice. But I never had flowers at that age. I feel like she’d like them though.

Some of them can be a bit hit and miss can’t they? I subscribed to Glossy and Birchbox for years. I actually have same friend a Cult Beauty box last year and that’s was good. About £30 but had a Huda palette in it amongst other things and I knew what I was getting. I would want something a bit nicer than a Glossybox for her.

A facial roller.

I had considered this. I like the idea of a few different bits like a face mask and facial roller and maybe something else.

Part of the issue is I was planning to be a bit lazy about it and get whatever it is delivered directly to her so I don’t have to wait to get it then pay to post it to her...

Thinking of brands like MAC, Nars, Laura Mercier, Milk... but not a bottomless budget.

For the 18 year old (girl) flowers just seemed a bit different to chocolates or a candle.

CT or Huda are good ideas

Not sure what to buy from CT as I haven’t tried anything. Love the lip sets suggested by PP but can’t see a colour I think works

She likes Huda but again not sure what to buy and she might have a lot of her stuff. I got her a Huda palette as part of last gift.

I think I need more specific help please!

What kind of lip colour does she tend to go for? Nudes or brights? Charlotte tilbury has a shade called pilllow talk which is really popular. It's a nice pinky nude and it ls available in three shades.

Do you know what perfume she wears? How about the matching shower gel and body lotion?

Report
SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 26/05/2020 08:07

Nudes more than brights but she is medium-tan asian skin so not sure if pillow talk would suit.

Pillow talk medium and pillow talk intense might work but they don’t appear to have those in the lipstick / lip liner sets, though I suppose I could buy them separately

I don’t know what perfume she wears

They have the lip kits in PT intense and medium so I might go for PT medium. Thanks. That’s a really good idea.

Yes, I was also looking at that shade last night and am tempted to purchase! I am of a similar skin tone and usually go for bright colours. I have the queen and walk of shame which are really nice.

I have similar skin tone too and have been tempted by them for myself but I think I’d like something less pinky for me. Reviews of PT medium day it is more browny in real life which might be better for me or for her

So I’m deliberating between the medium and intense and was looking so intensely at google images this morning I’ve needed to take a break!
