Rotating hair brush!

Hi everyone,

I keep hearing about the babyliss big hair & I've been wanting myself a rotating hair brush for ages

Do you recommend it? Is it easy to use for "beginners"? Does your hair get stuck in it?

If you don't recommend the big hair, what do you recommend instead?

My hair is shoulder length.

I was irrationally incredibly upset not to get chosen to test the Babyliss big hair, when Mumsnetters got the chance a few years ago. I still maintain they only chose testers who'd had the older model!!

Anyway, I did buy one and I LOVE it.

I had the old model and was lucky enough to test the new one for MN. They are excellent for shoulder length hair. Work in sections on hair that is already about 70% dry and you end up with bouncy, glossy locks that look professionally blow dried. I'm not very good at styling hair and IG transforms my fine, slightly frizzy into a polished, stylish head of hair.

I bought one last year and my hair game has been on point since. I'm a complete novice when it comes to styling my own hair and I found this easy to use.
If it helps I have kinky curly hair naturally and this is a great tool to smooth out the curls and tame the frizz.

It really has been a game changer for me. I don't use it every single time I wash my hair but for work or going out it's brilliant. It's made me much more confident that I can achieve stylish looking hair at home and quickly. My hair used to be glossier and nicer when I was in my 20s but as I've got older it's developed rebellious kinks and curls and it can lack shine. This really knocks it into shape.

I didn't like it. It kept grabbing my hair and knotting it and it really hurt if I didn't stop the dryer quickly before it yanked my hair tightly. Didn't like the finish either. Too soft and floppy. I have lots of hair but fine.

I find it really easy to use and followed several YouTube clips to find the best way.

Personally I wait until my hair is almost dry before using it.

The longer I spend with it, the better the results, but inevitably day to day I end up running it through for just 5 minutes and it's still great.

I haven't found that it pulls or twists, unless I use too much hair in that section.

It's a finishing tool rather than a drier. It's ok but my hair looks ok for half an hour then drops. I won't be replacing it. I also noticed a lot of hair breakage around my hair line. I have really thick hair. If you're dextrous enough to use a round brush and a hairdryer I think you'll be disappointed.

Mine is under the bed gathering dust. No matter how much hair I used in small sections, it still grabbed other bits of hair and knotted them. Had to cut knots out and it ripped hair out.

It is amazing, the best hair product I have ever brought, look at a few you tube videos to get the technique right, it is really easy, dry hair initially to about 80% dry and then use the big hair,I have thick hair, and it would not be possible for me to hold a hairbrush and dryer, so this product is brilliant for me. I am not great with hairstyles but even I can use it.

I absolutely adore mine. I have lots of very fine hair and it works a treat. Doesn't get knotted and looks like a pro blow dry. Loads of comments about how fab my hair is looking g since I started using it.

You can use it on wet hair but I tend to dry mine in a microfibre towel first so it's not dripping and I love it.

I bought mine on Saturday from a hairdresser recommendation and it is amazing. I have fine hair that does nothing I ever want it to until now! I'm amazed :)

I think I had the older model, it was purple. Anyweay, the brush has stopped rotating which is annoying and pointless!

I have one, tried it a couple of times and it didn’t do much so gave up. I ought to go watch some youtube clips and try again really, it’s just gathering dust.

Does it work on dry hair if I wet it a little first? I need something I can use without having to shower first.

I’m on my third BH. I bought one when it first came out and have replaced it twice (they burn out after a couple of years IME). Clearly I loved it or I wouldn’t have carried in using it let alone replaced it. I also have the basic Dyson, a Parlux and the Dyson AirWrap. I leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of the perfect bouncy blow dry for my thick, shoulder length hair!

Recently I bought a product that has left all the other dryers gathering dust on my dressing table. It’s the Revlon Pro Collection one step dryer and volumiser. It gives the volume, movement and lift of the Big Hair plus the shine and smoothness of a Dyson. I also had occasional problems with my hair getting caught and tangled in the Big Hair but that doesn’t happen with this. It is also gentler on the hair, eliminating the stretching and subsequent frizz that can happen with the BH. It’s slightly slower than the Dyson but it’s worth it for the results.

I see I’m not the first to recommend the Revlon! This seems to be something that was launched without much hype but is catching on by word of mouth.

I spent ages trying to decide between the big hair and the revlon one step. I got the one step and it is brilliant! I have very curly hair and if I wanted to straighten it I would have to blow dry it and then go over it with the straighteners. It took at least 90 minutes and would often kink up before the end of the day. With the one step it takes me 30-40 minutes to get a perfect blow dry that lasts. My day 2 hair is still straight and bouncy, although a little flatter, even after walking the dogs in this damp weather.
