Have you got a picture of what you mean?

TotemIcePole · 09/12/2017 08:35

I want legwarmers Xmas Sad

dudsville · 09/12/2017 08:41

Grr, I just tried but have never mastered a pic or link on here. It's a sock that's slouchy or rouched in the space between an ankle boot and the bottom hem of the rolled up trousers. I want this to be dark, and cotton or wool, but all I can find is acrylic or leg warmer sizes, and yes Totem I have been tempted by those!

Ah.... Well I think I know want you mean. Mens socks may be your answer! Unless you have an amazing budget/know a knitter.

Try the Women's Everyday Socks in bamboo from Seasalt. They're quite long and dark and soft, organic fabric. But striped not plain. Would that do?

furryhat · 09/12/2017 08:56

I want some too! Can't find any anywhere

dudsville · 09/12/2017 16:05

Ooh, ideas, thanks! Off to google!

Hm. I'm looking for something like at the sock shop ribbed boot sock, but dark grey, green, blue, black, marl or plain.

Furryhat, I'm now considering ankle warmers. There are short ones on amazon.

I’m also looking for socks like this! I got some last year from eBay, nice plain dark colours in 100% wool. But I can’t find them this year. I got some men’s ones but find them too big even though I have fairly big feet. I’ve had luck in the past buying boys socks. I don’t know why women’s socks all have to be patterned!

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 09/12/2017 21:52

I have these ones, they're lovely.

Corrymoor gentletops

arousingcheer · 10/12/2017 06:17

Lol, was just about to recommend the Corrymore ones. I bought them in the hunter green to go with chino-ish trousers and now I want a pair to match every pair of trousers I own. They're the perfect length and fold or slouch beautifully without the elasticky bit getting in the way.

Have also seen some nice cashmere ones at TK Maxx.

dudsville · 10/12/2017 08:24

i like those corrymoor. I'm a size 6, do i just get the smallest?

I love companies like this, Rubbish and Arousing, thanks for the recommendation. It's so hard to find the small and independent companies making great products because internet searches are set up to send us to the big retailers. There should be a thread for companies like this. I'm ordering 7 pairs in small!

Got a pack of these from H&M:

arousingcheer · 10/12/2017 15:06

Wow, 7 pairs! I hope you like them, they're lovely and silky and cozy. Dh said 'Aren't they itchy?' but they're not scratchy or bulky like you might imagine mohair to be. Love mine.

mercurymaze · 10/12/2017 15:12

tk maxx do calvin klein slouchy socks like \link{https://www.johnlewis.com/calvin-klein-roll-top-crew-ankle-socks-grey-black/p3291739\this} if that's what you mean?

fill yer boots!

Mary888 · 10/12/2017 15:23

Wool socks are my everything :)

arousingcheer · 10/12/2017 15:44

exWifebeginsat40 have you had a look at shooting socks? Most over-the-knee socks are barely cuffable but they are extra-long.

Sadly as soon as I had enough long socks I had to retire the very boots I bought them for so am now on the hunt for long boots.

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 11/12/2017 13:52

Small size should be fine.

They're so soft, you'll love them. Mine are burgundy - I need more pairs!

I know what you mean about not knowing about these small companies. I found Corrymoor because of a recommendation on here, which is the way I come across all these interesting places to buy new things Smile

dudsville · 15/12/2017 08:23

They arrived yesterday. They are wonderful. I wish they had a darker grey but I'm otherwise really pleased and feel good having bought from a small British supplier who is producing a wonderful product.
