Are Hush dresses really as massive as people say?

I've loved this dress from afar for ages. Yesterday I discovered I had a big party to go to the week after getting my veins done (oh the glamour) so would need a maxi and I immediately remembered this lovely number. It has tiny gold stars!

I'm definitely a size 16 in regular clothes and last night the only size left was 16. Fate! I ordered - not cheap as I live in Ireland and it's €6 shipping and God knows how much to return.

But now this morning loads of sizes have come in and I keep reading how massive Hush dresses are on people! Noooooo!

Is this thing going to be a sparkly tent on me? Or are rumours exaggerated?

It depends on the dress, I think. I'm a 10. Ordered this in an 8 having read the comments which said there was too much fabric on top. It was too big and I ended up with it in a 6 to get the fit right. I think the comments give a good guide. Fingers crossed that yours will fit!

The reviews say "I am a 10 and had to get an 8" but a 10 would have a much smaller body type to me so it's hard to know!

If you have just had your veins done then you might still be in a full leg compression stocking. If the split is the same side as the leg you have had done then you might still see it (they are not the most attractive things Grin)

One way to stop a side split in a dress from revealing more than you wan to show, is ti buy some net or lace in a very dark colour, then sew it in as a panel . It ill give glimpses of our leg (for glamour) without showing too much.

I'm going to whip it off for the party and put it back on again after. Living dangerously! Grin I'll be a week wearing it by that stage so hopefully my veins won't explode or anything! Shock

I was going to order the 14 this morning but I thought that's insane, spending €12 on shipping and definitely having to spend € to return one of them.

Has anyone on here with a bigger dress size bought from Hush?

Finally that's a great idea. I could easily do that myself.

I am an 18 and bought a size 14 dress from Hush. I had loved it for ages and it sold out and a 14 came back into the sale so I took a chance.
It fits.

It is a very different style of dress to the one you like though.

This is the dress I bought 2 sizes down. The reviews were accurate on the sizing.

I ordered a gorgeous dress from Hush with broderie anglais on the back and sized down but it was still ridiculously wide. I didn't want to go even smaller because I am tall and it was already bordering on not long enough.I did think about altering it myself but for the money I was after a perfect fit.

Wow, doesn't sound promising. Sad AAAAAHHHH why do brands do this? They must get a vast amount of returns. Last night I literally got the last dress in stock and now this morning they've got a glut of returns.

Really have no idea whether to order another size but now I wouldn't even know what other size to order! Hmm

I'm a sturdy lass and I buy an extra small from Hush. They're massive.

As a fellow 16 (solidarity!) my take on their clothes is that the styles are very 'relaxed' so can swamp you a bit. I bought the stripy ruched dress in XL a few months ago and while it fit in the bum the top was just huge. But your dress may be just fine. I'd be concerned about the straps being a bit long (easy to shorten I'd think) which could make it all a bit revealing up top. As it is a wafty sort of frock I'd expect it to look wafty as intended. Smile
My personal issue with Hush clothes is that I have a waist and they are cut to sit on the hip of someone tiny and athletic. Without a waist they can look a bit butch on a busty bruiser like me.
Having said that I love their army jacket (which is £200ish cheaper than the Me+Em version).
Good luck! I hope it works out.

I had a baby last year and still look 4 months pregnant so that's why I loved the waftiness - 99% of maxis look maternity on me.

Bloody hell, extra small! Of course they will only exchange sizes within the UK, too. Ugh.

I'm a 14 and got some trousers in a 16 on eBay as a bargain, most shops that would be fine but they are completely unwearable even with a belt. Dresses also v generous sorry.

I'm a 14 and a small (very occasionally a medium) in Hush is plenty big enough. Mad sizing.

Has it dispatched? Can you phone and change your order?

Yes that occurred to me too, but I got a tracking number and it's in the Royal Mail system. Damn them being so prompt!

The website is very very unclear on their returns policy, i.e.how much it is. It says "please note that we do not offer a free returns service during sale". Very vague.

Do they have somewhere on their website where they equate their dress sizes to inches/cm around the bust/waist/hips? Most brands do. Unfortunately I haven't tried Hush but I get so hacked off with this issue that I now compare the sizings of everything I buy online to those of a brand or shop that I know fits me well.

Yeah, they do:www.hush-uk.com/m/customer/pages/order/sizing

and my Bust is actually bigger than their 16 bust sizes (though I'm only 36d so that's a bit wierd but whatevs) so by their sizing guide I should be an 18!

They say "Hush garments run true to size, many of our styles are quite relaxed so can feel oversized, but we would recommend choosing your true size as this is the intended look" That's not the consensus of the Internet!

Hush do come up big.

However in your circumstances if you order other sizes you could sell on via your local Facebook page or similar rather than pay the returns cost.

Yes that's true.....but I doubt I'd get my money back when you add in shipping.

I'm hoping that given its style, a thin gold belt and a stitch or two at the bust might solve most of it!

I'm a 10, occasionally a 12, and everything I have from Hush is an 8 or a Small.

Is this the hush site where sizes run so relaxed (eeekkkkkk)
