Vest tops which don't cling to outer layer

Recently I read a comment on here about a particular fabric of vest that doesn't cling to the jumper/t-shirt worn over the top of it, thus flattering muffin top waistlines!
Sadly I can't find the thread or the recommendation - can anyone help?

I keep meaning to get a silk one for this purpose. Is there another cheaper fabric that's been recommended?

Would silk work? Or maybe that stuff that is used for slips, but I don't know what it's called! Someone must know, the thread I saw it mentioned on was only a few weeks ago. Please rack your brains?

i started a thread on this last year...uniqlo vests were recommended a lot- can't remember actual name of them, think they were "shapewear" ones.
i just got a M&S silky feel one in the end.

GoingSouth, did the M&S silky feel vest work as a non-clingy underlayer? And do you know what it's made of? Can't see any anything fitting your description on the website, but that's probably my rubbish search skills!

I wear the matalan vest tops daily, I like to be warm and nothing clings

Nothing special about them 95% cotton 5% elastane

will see if i can find it....(and check it actually was M&S ! )

I've got loads of cotton/elastane ones, but jumpers do cling to them on me, I know there's a particular fabric which is supposed to be less clingy. Maybe its the Heattec ones.

They are m&s tops made from a slightly silkier stretch fabric (like very thin Lycra) then the usual jersey cotton vest tops. I have them, they are in the lingerie depot. Outer fabric then doesn't stick to the silky stretch vest tops like it can do the cotton ones.

The fabrics probably the same as mine, everything but mind don't have a lace trim and go straight across.

See I want one that doesn't cling to me or the outer garment. A top-half slip. Cotton elastane wouldn't work. Nor would polyester. Or any sort of jersey.

Dulci you probably need just a silky cami top?

Dulcimena · 11/02/2017 20:00

Yes, I think you're right. M&s often have them in colours, i just want a cream/nude one though. Online is probably the way to go isn't it.

Thanks Everything, will try it out.
Dulcimena, yes, a top-half slip is exactly what I want!

Uniqlo airism vests are good, they are fitted though.

I adore my Vero Moda ones. Cost about £10 on their website. They are awesome.

Update....
I finally bought a silk CAMI from M &S, and a full slip which I have cut down to hip- length - so its quite loose around the middle. Thanks Dulcimena for the inspiration!
I tried the cool comfort vests, but even 2 sizes bigger than my normal size, they were very clingy and uncomfortable.

Oooh Delph I'd never have thought of cutting a full slip! That's genius. Which one did you get from M&S?
