eBay says my ugg boots are fake!

About 5 years ago I bought some ugg boots online. I only ended up wearing them about 3 times and decided they didn't really suit me.

I've recently been putting some bits on eBay and had been intending to list the uggs for a long time and finally did. They were only on there for about 10 hours (already had 1 bid) and then were removed by eBay. I spoke to them to ask why and they said in their opinion they are fake. They said in order to list them I'd need them certified by someone who works at an outlet that sells them.

I cannot remember the detail from when I bought them as its a while ago now but I know for sure I would have made sure they were genuine as I know how many fakes are around. I kept the certificate they came with and included it in a photo in my listing too. I'm pretty sure I would have checked I was on the genuine ugg website when ordering.

They seem to fit with all of the real vs fake checks that I have done online. Has anyone got any advice on how to go about selling? I'm not sure how much a person in a shop would be wanting to help me to authenticate them to be honest and I'm really annoyed as I was hopeful they would do well and instead they have just been removed!

Have they got a tag inside each boot?

Report
IfeelFloopy · 06/02/2017 17:13

Yes. I photographed the label inside the right boot for the listing which says made in China. It's only since researching the difference between real and fake that I found of the left boot has the special label inside that it is supposed to have

They removed my Uggs too but I sent them extremely sharp responses via live chat and they said if I added more photos (I'd put 3 up) they'd be ok.

Oh I didn't even realise they had live chat, I spoke to someone on the phone. I had about 10 really clear pictures of them in the listing so I don't think adding more would help. Just so frustrating as I think they look good and I'm sure I bought genuine boots unless I'm horribly wrong.

I feel like maybe it looks like I tried too hard with the listing or something as there seem to be plenty of uggs on there and lots look fake or crappy.

Sorry, but they do look fake to me too from those photos.
I could confirm if i saw a better pic of the lining, but i can see where they are coming from on this one im afraid.

Really? I'm baffled. Like I said I know I would have made sure to look for 'the' correct website to order from. I would know not to order from just anywhere claiming that they are ugg Australia and all the real vs fake pics to me have backed up that mine are real, or so I thought. Can I ask what makes them look fake to you? I'll try and take a couple of picture of the lining to show

Can you show us the soles? I have a few pairs of genuine Uggs and the soles are very distinctive. Did you get a hard with a hologram on it? All my Uggs (bought from official outlets like Schuh) have had these.

The lining looks like faux sheepskin. However, until i see a pic i am unable to confirm.

I included a pic of the soles in the listing. The doesnt show in the pic but I can see from here that underneath the word 'ugg' the word Australia has been worn off.

I have a hologram on the label on the left boot. But other than that none on the certificates that came with them.

Hi, from what i can see on the pics provided that is faux sheepskin. The real sheepskin is a very diffferent look to that and isnt shiny either. Sorry, but i believe you haeve been duped into buying fakes.

Sorry, another adding to the fake chorus. They look like very obvious fakes to me, that's definitely not sheepskin inside

Fuzzypeggy · 06/02/2017 20:19

The sheepskin inside does look a bit artificial, like shiny polyester or something but I'm not sure if that's just the camera flash

Well, that's annoying and embarrassing haha. I so wish I could remember the website address where I ordered them. I definitely remember wanting to make sure I got them from the right place.

Thanks for looking and giving your opinions

Sorry, they look fake to me too. I have a couple of pairs and the sheepskin I side isn't all fluffy like on your photo. Also, if you look at the stitching around the top of the boots its pretty messy.

Fuzzypeggy · 06/02/2017 20:22

I've just looked at some boots on the ugg website and the lining looks fluffier and less shiny and separated. The lining in yours looks almost combed with separated fibres whereas they should be more like cotton wool. Not sure if I'm describing that well! Sorry ☹️

How did 'Australia' wear off after 3 wears?

Report
Floofborksnootandboop · 06/02/2017 20:25

Can you contact UGG and ask them if they are real or not?

Report
Teacupinastorm · 06/02/2017 20:25

The stitching on top of the boots doesn't look quite right, like it's not finished correctly. Also the sheepskin doesn't look real.
Easily done - so many fake ugg sites these days.
Also surprised at eBay, there's loads of very obvious fakes on there!

The bottoms of yours look the same as mine and DDs, but I have a pair of 6 year old very well used Uggs and the word Australia is still very much there on the sole.

I agree that the lining looks off in that photo. It is shiney and doesn't look like that without the flash but understand what you're all saying with regard to that.

I don't know how the indent of Australia would have worn off that fast but you can see that they are not heavily used so I'm not being deceitful about it. I obviously wouldn't sell them on as known fakes.

Can't you do a search of your emails? When I bought something from Ugg Australia they sent me about ten emails.

AllStartedWithABigBang · 06/02/2017 20:42

These have had heavy wear over last 3 years now so the condition isn't great Blush but these are 100% real. You can see the difference on the soles.
