If you are a 30-something yr old woman would you consider this skirt ridiculous?

I've attached a pic. I intend to wear it with oversized jumpers and boots - to work. Would I look awful. Size 8/10. I work in comms/marketing so we have many 'creatives' in the office but then again I don't know.

I'm wondering why you think it's inappropriate and what makes you think you might look awful in it.

To me it looks like an inoffensive mini skirt. How you might wear it sounds nice. It is short but if you've the legs...

Not sure how relevant being over 30 is.

That's very short in my view to wear to work. Fine otherwise. I'm just not sure I'd want to be worrying about accidental gusset exposure while trying to work...

Flat boots? Yes, fab!
No heels with it tho...!

Might be ok with low ankle boots and thick tights... and if you had fabulous legs

Absolutely fine imo for your setting and the way you've mentioned styling it.

I don't like it, sorry. Short, tight, red and shiny = too much going on at once imvho.

Maybe for a night out but not for work.
Unless you work in Hooters.

PollyPerky · 04/11/2016 22:34

No just no.
Not for work. Unless the model is 6ft 6 and you are 5ft so it would be longer.
If you want to go short and have the legs, fine. But not short, flame red and shiny together. IMO it's the equivalent of fishnets, cleavage and more (all at once.)

If you're slim and you've got thick tights on, go for it

justwanttoweeinpeace · 04/11/2016 22:35

Actually just buy the size that fits and include thick tights. Your size is irrelevant.

I would think anyone wearing a skirt like that for work ridiculous. Age and size is irrelevant. It looks like the sort of skirt thousands of women up and down the country wear when they're out on the pull. Although if that's the look you're going for then hey - do it!

Totally inappropriate for work imo

I think the micro-short, red, shiny, leather and tight is all a bit too much going on for wearing at work. Sorry!

I saw the skirt as orange and not red but I suppose that's not really the point.

JohnCheese It's relevant because I want to move up the chain and considering I spent my 20s basically drinking and doing heroin then being in my 30s as a sober changed woman it makes the difference.

QueenOfTheNaps Yup, flat dark tan boots.

I do have the legs for it. i.e. if I were just wearing it on a night out that would be fine. But to work I'm not sure.

Thanks for all your feedback so far.

I'd just worry about the practicality of it.
Although I love the whole mini skirt, oversized jumper, thick tights and flat boots look.

Confused

That's the kind of skirt you would see on Television X or similar.

It is awful and totally not appropriate for work.

Sorry

No I think it's inappropriate . Anyone wearing an outfit like than in my job wouldn't get promoted , most likely disciplined instead!

Depends on the culture of your workplace and what you wear it with.

Flat boots, big jumper, thick tights, 'creative' vibe = should be OK...

How does it compare to your other work outfits/other people's work outfits?

Better in a charcoal grey, I think.

I work in a similar environment and nobody would bat an eyelid at that skirt, I like the colour!

Oh and I'm in that age bracket as well.

Go for it! I think its about how you style it and if you like it then thats enough reason to.

30 yo here. No, not for work. Length is OK-ish, but shiny and red with it Confused

Tardigrade001 · 04/11/2016 23:39

Probably too short for work, and you won't see much of it under an oversized jumper. It will probably ride up when you walk, too.

Report
burnishedsilver · 04/11/2016 23:40

For work, if you have to ask, then it's a no.
