Please say yes!

I bought a beautiful quality skirt from their 35% off 35th birthday the other week but a friend said she would put it in the same category clothes wise as Fat face or White stuff noooooooo!

I like Seasalt, I have their Priory cardigan & a nice long skirt :) Their coats are fab for a rainy school run if you walk.

I would say like Boden but stripier! Agree with your friend, sorry.

That said, I have a v cool friend who works at White Stuff and she has some stuff from there which is OK. Although she estimates it's about 0.5% of their catalogue she finds acceptable. Maybe your skirt is in the acceptable 0.5% OP?

Fat face is waaay cooler than Boden or saltwater.

Saltwater is proper frumpy.

Saltwater is grumpy although I do have one of their raincoats and some bedding. Their dresses have a very frumpy cut to them

I meant frumpy not grumpy although frumpy clothes make me grumpy

Seasalt is just like FatFace and White Stuff IMO. All a bit twee.

Boden is different, does hideous prints and fun stuff, but good basics.

Seasalt is on a par with White Stuff and Joules, to my mind. I think slightly cooler than fat face which is after all cool enough for the likes of me

Just buy clothes you love! Don't get hung up on the hierarchy or 'feel' of a brand. Smile

It's not trendy or cool. But if you like it, then good show!

It's all a bit joules, white stuff, fat face. I imagine one big factory with different labels stitched in!

I think seasalt is just like White stuff but if you like the item who cares where it's from?

Well I think they are all a bit 'samey' - that said I think Seasalt are actually much better quality in terms of material and fit than FF, WS and Boden. Seasalt, Joules and Boden are aiming at the same market in my opinion - the trade mark of all three seems to be stripey tops/Breton. I have a few nice tops from seasalt and I have the kellifray Mac which I love but some of the stuff is a bit dull.

I am often puzzled by the number of items on here (S & B) linked from marks and Spencer's and Clarks which are definitely not cool either! But hey ho, don't think it matters as long as you like it and feel good in it.

Seasalt have some horrors, but the odd good thing if you look carefully. I've got a couple of nice things and IMO the simpler you go for, the nicer and less frumpy they are.

I had a white linen tunic that was good value and quality. I've got a nice chunky wool cardigan and a wool jumper dress, all from the sale.

Seasalt often look to me like they're aiming at the 'nicely dressed toddler' market.

I like their plain tops and cardigans though.

I consider Seasalt to be far too old for me (34). I would look frumpy if I wore any of it, bar maybe one of their jackets. Joules is more of an all round, suits everyone no matter what age, and more flattering cuts. FF and WS are the same, not anything like Seasalt, and you either like or you don't.

Seasalt good quality, pricey, associate it with over 50s. Joules, patchy quality, associate with posh and wannabe posh. White stuff, very patchy quality, for teachers, sizes come up massive so Good ego boost. Fat face used to be more outdoorsy, now definitely for middle aged mothers, waists are insanely big but sizing has been better lately. Boden usually good quality, need to ignore some of the prints, you are allowed to have a waist.

I am a middle aged mother and have excellent stuff from all of them except seasalt!

Seasalt is not cool or trendy, but it is good quality. I like it, they are opening a shop near-ish me later this week. If us very exciting for a frumpy country mouse like me.

There did used to be a brand called Seasalt, who were sort of "Trendy British", lots of tweed and cord and subtle colours. A bit like Boden 10 years ago before they started trying to be edgy.

In my second post I meant "There did used to be a brand called Salt Water....".

So you bought something you loved and are now rethinking it because your friend says it's not 'cool'?! Are you thirteen? If you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks?

Corialanusburt · 14/06/2016 18:47

My impressions are: Sea Salt - frumpy, Fat Face - tedious, Boden - emperor's new clothes as in if the stuff was displayed in a shop, it would look just like Hobbs and he mystique would end.

You like it, you wear it! Crazy to not wear something you like because of the label! Seasalt is aiming for the older market but they have some v nice things (love their coats). Be happy with your bargainous skirt! My favourite ever jeans were from renowned edgy fashion house Tesco, got loads of compliments on them from stylish friends!
