Does anyone actually USE body lotion.

Judging by the big bag of out of date products I've chucked out tonight I obviously don't.

A couple of years ago I decided to cut down on the chemicals I put on my skin...so as these weren't natural...I just never used them

Not a lover of larding stuff on me after a bath.

I make my own face cream which is natural so would just use that.

So...are you like me..or do you use it?

Nope never ever. I just put a squirt of hand cream on before bed and that's it. I always re-gift any body lotions I receive Wink

Erm, no

TBH, I don't need it.
I use face-neck cream, handcream, footcream.
Legs if I'm doing a fake tan.
But my belly, arms, back, bum are ok without.
I use a moisturising shower gel though.

Yes! Every day for 35 years. I do it so religiously I couldn't even tell you whether I actually need to Grin

Yes, me, every day after my shower.

Me, after every bath or shower. I would be a shrivelled crisp without it.

yes particularly in the summer, on my arms and legs

I use it on my legs and arms in the summer, but not every day.

I too have a massive stockpile of unopened bottles of it.

I've never finished a whole bottle. I'll get one as part of a gift, use it a couple of times and then I can't be bothered so it just gets left in the cupboard for months/years until I eventually throw it out.

Meh. Your first word says it all.
I use it every single day. My skin feels and looks fabulous.

Report
freshprincess · 26/03/2016 23:57

Every day. I have lots of dry skin on my legs and they get horrible and itchy if I don't.
And handcream, I use gallons of the stuff.
Prefer body butter to lotion though.

Twice a day.

Only when I can be bothered, which is rarely. I don't like feeling like a greased potato and the scent interferes with my perfume. There is never a good time to apply it either, if I do it right before bed it makes my sheets gross and before getting dressed it makes my clothes stick to me

The fact I've got a stack of dusty body shop body butters on my dressing table probably answers your question...

I love the idea of doing it, but like a previous poster, I can never work out the best time!

Yes, but I only started about a year ago when I read (on MN) that certain ingredients in lotion could calm the effects of Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin), my arms & legs are now much smoother.

No. Have tons of those bottles that you always get as part of gift sets. Every so often I give it a go but after two days I forget.

Report
imwithspud · 27/03/2016 00:21

I agree about the feeling sticky/greasy. Not sure if it's because I use too much of what, but that's probably another reason why I 'forget' after a day or two.

Just seems like so much faff. It doesn't seem to benefit my skin in any way what so ever. Glad it works for some people though.

Every morning after a shower, then usually again before bed. I think it's just about routine - my mum always did so I started in my teens.

It is becoming a necessity. I made it all the way to the age of 40 without needing it at all. Post-second baby aging (grey hair, dry skin) made me experiment with it occasionally. Now perimenopause seems to be mean that my skin is downright crispy and body lotion makes it feel much more comfortable.
However, I am very fussy about what feels nice. I can't stand highly scented or sticky.

No way. It's too cold.

I swim nearly every day and have dry skin too so I really need to use it. It makes a big difference to the look and feel of my skin, especially on the arms and legs. But for those of us who do use it, what's the best way to put it in your back?? (There always seems to be a few bits I just can't reach) please don't say get your DH to do it -- he wouldn't be welcome in the ladies changing room at the pool!

I like doing the Nivea one in the shower. Gets it all over and done with.

Yes I use the one that matches my perfumes in a set, but not every day probably a few times a week. My skin isn't dry except a bit on my hands which I put Vaseline on before bed.

Only on my feet. I get weird hot feet at night and body lotion on my feet cools them enough for me to sleep.

Yes, every day. Mum did it for me when I was little and I just carried on. I have soft skin, people remark on it.

Report
Eminybob · 27/03/2016 03:31

No. I always feel like I should but then forget.
I too have a stack of body butters from various gifts over the years. I actually decided to use some the other day, so gave them all a sniff to see which one I wanted but they all smelt a bit musty and stale so I didn't bother. Wondering to myself now why I haven't binned them Hmm
