DMBL40 had a pic on her blog the other day wearing it and she looked OK. Would look like a dressing gown on me.

I have a conversation with myself in my head where I imagine that I'm telling someone that they don't suit something but in reality I only say if I'm asked directly.

I swear she must earn commission from M&S - she's never done with posting about them

Maybe try something subtle? 'Just noticed you trying that on. My mum got one and says the shape went really weird when she washed it. She had to bring it back.' Might put her off - and if she's your age or younger, then the 'my Mum' might do the job as well Grin.

It's never happened to me, though, and I'm sure in practice I wouldn't say anything!

I wouldn't say anything and would think it quite rude. It's an opinion and a subjective one at that. She/He might think it looks great, and if she/he feels great in it and is happy then fair enough Smile

I don't say anything.
The other day I saw someone in M&S queuing to pay for bras in size 40B. There's no way she was a 40 back. It was hard not to tell her to go and try some 32E or something like that instead!

Ewwwwww, to pick that up in the first place, it's terrible.

Gone perhaps she was buying them for someone else?

I remember a really sweet elderly man wandering around Matalan with a scrap of paper. His wife was moving to a care home and needed some new underwear and he was struggling finding the sizes. I helped him find what he needed, steered him away from impracticals and he was lovely. Told me all about his wife and got teary (as did I!)

I sometimes feel like telling bloggers 'No don't do it!!'. For example Poppy's style has just spent about £800 on a pair of really blingy boots that look like something the Golden Girls would wear to Vegas! However I don't as I realise not everyone likes the same things as me!

Well exactly Dexter. Its noone else's place to say and i certainly would not unless they asked my honest opinion. I suppose thats why we have individual changing rooms shudders at the thought of communal ones
The cardigan isnt my taste but i have seen far worse.

Cardigan is horrible. Bum Lady looks okay in it, but she's about 17 feet tall. Her blog is increasingly full of list after list of stuff from M&S yet she rarely seems to actually wear anything from there.

I could never be a blogger, and am wearing dp's jumper plus PJ bottoms as I type, but some of them seem to wear v unflattering things indeed - and clearly have more money than sense, as my grandad used to say.

I wouldn't say anything in a shop, but I do comment if I think somebody looks nice when trying something on.

Shakey - that's a lovely story. I had similar in Clarks once - lovely old man was looking for size 2 shoes for his wife.

I would leave them to make choices for themselves. Always edifying to see women judge and bitch about other women for what they choose to wear Hmm.

I always tell people if it is lovely. otherwise say nothing.

But I did once tell someone not to buy a cardigan. He was an american trying an aran cardigan in an Irish shop. An aran cardigan that could only be worn by a woman ...and even then ...

Anyway I waited for the assistant to say "actually that is more a woman's cardigan" and when she didn't told him myself. Act of human charity.

Doesmybum - promotes m&s and then wears an acne cardigan - hmmmm.

I tell strangers when something looks good but don't comment if it is bad.

I did tell mil she needed a new bra when she was trying on clothes in hobbs in our annual shopping trip last year.

How many of us have just looked at those boots? They are hideous, but no more hideous than lots of the other shoes/boots/bloody awful trainers on there.

I went shopping today. I think Reiss is really good at the moment and it isn't a shop I used to go into.

I just can't cope with topshop/zara any more in RL - too busy and jumble sale like.

Those boots are £££ hideous. But I still like Poppy - she is keeping the economy going
