Help me to dry out unsightly hormonal chin line spots...!

Using only what I have in the house
I have... bicarb of soda
Essential oils of peppermint, clary sage and ylang ylang
white and cider vinegar

I have a roll on thingy that frees ingrown hairs that sometimes helps and dries them out (this isn't ingrown hair, I don't have hairy chin) but it's not touching it and it's way too drying / stings. Tried squeezing and just made them inflamed and painful
(and yes, it's PMS time)

and, why the hell have I only started getting these since entered my 40s, having been always spot free? I know chin zits relate to hormones though
Also have suspected endiometriosis though have no idea if this affects skin

they are along the jawline. why do other zits tend to pop satisfyingly and jaw ones don't budge?

Do all mumsnetters have the same menstruation cycle, like nuns in a nunnery? I am sporting a very similar hormonal spot on my chin for the same reason and shall be watching this thread with interest.

ha. chin ones as in under lower lip, are one thing.. they tend to be small, pimply and behave well in terms of poppage and clearing up. the jawline ones.. angry red painful buggers.. when i squeeze they just get nastier

I think you get flooded with hormones in your 40s. Sort of last chance fertility saloon or something. Might be making that up though.

i'm definitively infertile and always have been :-( so it's all really annoying and pointless. Probably my karma for being smug i'd got into my 40s without any grey hair (still have none) and never had a proper zit.

Go to the doctor. I have had a spotty chin (I'm 45) for the last two months. I get rid of one and another bigger one replaces it. I tried everything and nothing worked. I got Zineryt from my GP on Friday and it started to work more or less instantly. I am now spot free!

doc wants to see me three weeks after next period anyway to see how i got on with taking codeine on it (on top of the tons of Immodium for the severe diarrhoea i get..ie a packet a day.. have posted on this before.. hence thinking it's endo.....it was a MNetter who brought that to my attention actually) so i will mention this too. Embarrassing having zits at this age when never had them but they are painful and feel really deep

Ow, I've had a spotty chin for about 2 years. I found cutting out dairy (hate this as I love cheese), tomato based foods and red wine really helps. One weekend I made tomato soup and my spots were awful the following week!!

I also use hibiscrub (from boots) which helps if you massage it in and let it soak for a couple of minutes. I wash it off and then just a little moisturiser.

They look a lot better than they used too. I now have a smallish red rash rather than huge massive blister spots I used to get. I avoided doctors as everything I read said it could be the hair follicles getting infected, which hibiscrub would sort, or an allergic reaction (thus removing tomato as there is an ingredient which is key in red foods to causing a chin rash). Cutting out dairy helps lower the hormones in your body too. I am reluctant to take tablets/cream if it's diet related.

I'm 44 in march. I will mention Zineryt. I do have sensitive skin though so have to be very careful (can't even use most moisturisers)

but then again 'they' say oh but you need calcium when older.. blah blah.. natural yogurt great for under active thyroid (which i have) etc.. how do you really know what is best. I know i should cut down on dairy and the diet coke and see what happens . i did a non dairy detox years ago and was hell, but after 5 weeks never felt better

Agree with Mr Pickles- cut out dairy. Face spots went when I did that. After a few months of no dairy, I can now have a little bit (e.g. small cappuccino every second day) without them coming back.

If you've got any Germolene in the house, the anaesthetic in it will stop the spots feeling all throbby/itchy.

I feel the dairy pain. I originally cut it out as thought milk was giving my ibs symptoms. Turns out when the doctors changed me from microgynon to rigvideon contraceptive to save money, it irritated my stomach and caused ibs symptoms for around 8months. Then I realised that my cutting out milk and lowering my cheese intake (was sooooo hard), my spots were much better. Changed pill but not gone back to dairy.

Watching with bated breath, the irony if spots mixed in with wrinkles is too much! Incidentally all too much I'm also infertile, have under active thyroid, and have just been diagnosed with adenomyosis, have they looked at that for you?

cutting out dairy will make me unbearable to live with. I'll be climbing the wall. it was hard enough on the detox , and after a few weeks was at least allowed goats cheese and goats or sheeps yogurt (i didnt have that yogurt as hate it) it will be a proper cold turkey for me!
no germolene here
might dab a bit of bicarb soda on it
that's ok, thanks Alphonso . However it's just annoying getting all the crap fertile bods get as there's no plus points!

there would be i guess. a 'slight' chance IBS could work if I got the endo dealt with ..but. also thyroid and pituitary issues.. and we can't afford IBS... DP is possibly infertile so i'd have to consider donor..all that.. and he doesn't really want kids...he's older than me... when i was younger i was just with the wrong men so couldn't look into it as they really didnt want kids... also my thyroid was undiagnosed then so I'm actually more healthier now.. i just think.... sigh.. accept it.. not meant to be.. and will be 44 next year...

I started getting monster chin spots in my forties. The only thing that helps me is completely cutting out gluten. I don't get them at all if I stay right away from it.
