Tried the haircut and it looked awful, so I thought fuck it and shaved all my hair off.

Why?! Why did I do that?

I'm really pale and now have sticky up ginger hair.

I look like an egg with marmelade on top Sad

  1. The mumsnet haircut is wrong. At best it looks like something from 1994.

  1. How can you have sticky uppy hair if you shaved your head?? Confused

  1. Don't fret. I had a bleaching disaster in January and shaved mine all off (Sinead O'Connor style) and now I have a lovely below ear length bob. It WILL grow back!

Wine Wine Wine for you.

What's the mumsnet haircut?! Hmm

Can you buy a cool wig until it grows. Alternatively why not buy very chunky earings for an arty look. At least it saves time on brushing and washing hair and you can colour it with funky colours Grin

Bit of a departure though - crap haircut...I know...I'll shave my head!! Shock Grin

It'll grow back. Eventually.

bubbles You scrape all your hair into a ponytail at the front of your head then cut straight across the end of the ponytail. Then snip into it too to soften the ends a bit. There's a video somewhere...

Definitely no photo!!

I had the largest guard on the flippers, so my hair is all stood up. Tried mousse and hairspray to flatten it but no luck.

I had ginger roots after years of dying it dark brown. I thought a guick haircut would help it grow quicker. Then that messed up and I thought I could start from scratch.

Uh, I blame those inspirational 'you only live once' photos all over pinterest ffs.

What?! That's the mumsnet haircut?! I had a woman do this to me once, I wonder if she was a MNer... It looked ridiculous.

I can't stop laughing. And crying, which is ruining the heavy eyeliner I have applied to counteract how masculine I look Shock

Well to be fair you do only live once, and now you have a hilarious addition to your life story. One day you'll look back on this and laugh Wink. probably not today though

I did this. Not the mn haircut but I once tried to cut my own hair, got frustrated with it when it went wrong and shaved the lot off. I was 17 at the time though...

I still have my wigs somewhere if you want them? At least now the weather is getting colder you can wear a hat all the time .

'I had a woman do this to me once'

What woman?! Surely not a professional hairdresser?

I really really cannot stop laughing. I just went outside for a cig, I've got fur lining in the hood of my parka, felt interesting... So many new sensations! Quite enjoying giving myself a head rub Grin

But I cannot enjoy it because I look like David Bowie!! Heeeelp

I'm 20, does this mean I can pull it off?! I do look ridiculous though. What product could I use to make it more sleek?

Jub Yep, in a salon and everything. It was the last time I went there. The next person to cut my hair wondered what on earth I had done so it...

Go to hairdresser and get it rescued cut into a proper pixie crop, possibly coloured as well if you hate the colour and I'm sure it'll look fine.

I used to use hard wax on my v short pixie cut - Tigi bedhead was good.

Rub a bit onto your palm and warm between your hands before rubbing into fuzz hair and stylishly ruffle.

It won't be long before it grows into a v short pixie - but you will need to get it professionally cut when it gets there Grin

"The mumsnet haircut is wrong. At best it looks like something from 1994"

Well, that's not a very nice thing to say Shock Grin. 1994, good grief, what an insult.

Actually I took the plunge and did the haircut on myself at the weekend, and was expecting disaster, but it looks really great. A pretty good layered cut. perhaps it helps that I've got very thick hair which was all one length before, so the layering has really perked it up. And I pulled the hair to the crown of the head, not right at the front - that way you take less length off, and my shortest layers are still shoulder length.

About 20 years ago I saw the MN haircut being done on Richard and Judy, well before it became the MN haircut. And it wasn't a good idea then either.

20 years ago = 1994 ergo I was right Grin Grin

Thanks for the explanation.. I've seen it done on TV a few years ago. Fair play to whoever has the courage to trust that method! Confused
